Her Daughter received one of the scholarships that the other Children have been fighting for all their lives. She is doing the Ultra Scholar so to speak. With all that is happening now down in the Turks & Caicos Islands, she will be back in a LA College real soon. As for LisaRaye, that’s a story of another Color.

MINA=No one is FULL “Black” if they are an African American and their relatives have been here since slavery.

Now if your grandparents or your parents are straight from the African continent, mainly the Western half then sure they could be Full African.

    Flag this

  • SUZ August 19, 2008 at 4:06 am

Dre=The Eastern Africans bit don’t count. They are near the Middle Easterners, and Asians. So they are racially mixed. And like I said above to MINA, if you’re an African American and have had relatives here since slavery time, your genes aren’t FULL African. There is atleast some European or Native American genes in the lineage.

I agree with Suz I have even said as much in a few of my other post. I am a tawny color and my nose is pointy. People tell me all the time I have a white person’s nose. Whatever that means.

It is the reason there are so many color variations in people skin tones. Just because your parents are both black doesn’t mean that they can’t have some other heritage back down in the family tree.

It’s funny. My two older kids are both darker than my husband and I and the to little ones are lighter than he and I.

    LoveLyla,

Are you implying that Lisa’s daughter is heavy because she only got material love from her mom? She may have been sexually violated or any number of other reasons beside the fact that her mom showered her with material things instead of love and attention.

  • Mina August 19, 2008 at 6:05 pm

@ SUZ. I understand that nobody is “full” black, but at the same time, an African American with two black parents and black grandparents are NOT going to go around claiming to be mixed. If that were the case ALL African Americans would claim to be mixed instead of simply calling themselves African American. If the MAJORITY of someone is of black descent, than I’m going to call them black. The point I was trying to make is that just because someone has a staight nose, long hair etc.. does not mean that they are DIRECTLY mixed.

  • Suz August 19, 2008 at 6:38 pm

Now I get what you’re saying with the directly mixed part.

Back to what I said about East Africans not counting. They do count as a person from the African Continent,BUT They are mixed.

Everyone here who has commented (at least as far as I could stand to read the incorrect information posted) needs to go do some research on two subjects History and Biology.
    1. Ethiopia the cradle of civilization pre-dates Arab civilization.
    2. All hair is chemically the same, it is what’s happening in the hair follicle which will determine if hair is straight or curly and to what extent. Curly hair follicles also secrete less oil hence curly hair tends to be drier and why people with super straight hair tend to get oily fast and some wash their hair daily.

    3. Australian Aborigines have straight and ‘mixed’ looking hair and I’m talking full blooded Aborigine and they do not have straight noses.

    4. So called Black can make so-called white because white is the presence of a defective gene which causes a deficiency of melanin. White cannot make black. Melanin is a chemical that has to do with so many of our functions and all people have it and need it to survive.

    5. Black people come in all shades, shapes and sizes, some without having mixed with Anglo or Arian because nature and God is random like that. So making all these blanket statements like they are fact is wrong.

Like I said go do some research, read and stop regurgitating false beliefs and information; get some facts and just use some common sense.

Also, I cannot judge Lisa Raye. I like her as an actress and I thought wow it’s nice she found her prince, but we have all gone through bad experiences, it’s called life.

Her daughter is beautiful, she is not sloppy, she is a big girl, it may be that it’s hereditary and skipped Lisa; maybe she has a hormone imbalance or thyroid. Or maybe she is perfectly healthy. Maybe she eats well, but doesn’t like to workout? It could be anything. Does it matter? Why does it matter? She might be fitter than a lot of skinny people I know. As long as she is not morbidly obese. In my culture she is a healthy girl and pretty. This obsession with women being slim to stick is a new one and truthfully that girl might have better luck finding a good man than her mother has.

Also, that connection that I see between mother and daughter is not one of a neglected, unloved child. There seems to be a bond between them that usually is created in the formative years that cannot be broken. My ten year old and I are like that and I am a hard working divorced mother who wants my child to have the best of everything. We don’t know what sacrifices Lisa made before she made it and if she thinks a boarding school is the best option for her to give her child a higher starting out point in the world that is her prerogative. My aunt went to boarding school (which she loved) when my grandparents went to make a better life and when she graduated she went to them; she did not want to live where they moved to so my parents who were newly married with their newborn (me) became her guardians. I sometimes wish I had gone away earlier than college. I think my aunt is more resilient and more resourceful than me in some ways.

If that child has to go into therapy because her mom tried to do her best to give her the best or better than she had, then she better stand in line and take a number. My daughter, may very well blame me for stuff. I blame my mom for stuff but I know she did what she thought was best. Everybody blames the mother.

If the child worked for and is deserving of the scholarship and earned it then so be it. It would be nice if she could afford it to give it to a needier person, but who are we to judge. We don’t know all the details and what I don’t know I don’t form opinions about. We don’t know Lisa Raye’s financial situation, looks can be deceiving and it looks like she won’t be getting much or anything from her husband.

Stop judging others so harshly and taking pleasure in others misfortune, but most importantly get some facts, do some real research, (not wiki)before you spout wrong information.
