Rapper Remy Ma a.k.a Reminisce Smith has been sentenced to eight years in prison for shooting her friend over $3,000.Many are devastated by the judges ruling as this would mean that Remy’s seven-year-old son wil be without a mother for eight vital years of his life

Remy Ma, the Grammy-nominated rapper whose real name is Remy Smith, was sentenced Tuesday to eight years in prison for shooting a woman outside a Chelsea nightclub last summer. The 26-year-old rapper said the shooting was an accident, and her lawyer said they will appeal the conviction. Smith could have faced up to 25 years behind bars.
“The judge I think, relatively speaking, was lenient,” said Ivan Fisher, Smith’s attorney. “We of course were hoping for the five-year sentence, the least she could give, basically on account of the impact Remy’s incarceration is going to have on her son, Jason.”
“I was upset because it was an injustice. Remy is totally innocent. Some people will do and say anything for money,” said Papoose, a Brooklyn rapper and Smith’s fiancé, who was taken out of the courtroom by security after an outburst following the sentencing.Yesterday, Smith intended to marry Papoose at Rikers Island.
However, according to published reports, when guards searched Papoose, they found a small handcuff key. He is now reportedly banned from the jail until November.
Tuesday, Papoose called the incident ridiculous, saying the key was just a part of a key chain, and he’d brought it on visits to the prison in the past.

That is crazy ! Even thouqh you have to live with the choices you make, she’s qoinq to be locked up until her son is around 15 years old! That is a lonq time for mother and son to be apart, I just hope someone steps up to the plate and takes care of him ! Papoose isn’t stupid, That’s ridiculus to think that he would try to break her out of jail!
Its a shame our kids have to suffer for our ridiculous decisions…. In my opinion I think that was a selfish move on her part, because when someone carries a child and give birth the decsions you make in life don’t only affect you but the innocent babay that depends on you for everything;(
thats what happens when u shoot someone and then try to intimidate witnesses. she is gettin what she deserves, unfortunately her son is not. but then again, maybe his nana can do a better job.
i hope the child is def taken care of.. but it time for her to learn how to act like an adult and not like a child.. shooting her bestfriend wow… come on ‘Ma..
I hope Remy’s relatives look after her cute son instead of being shipped to a foster home while serving her time in prison.
