MUSICIAN WYCLEF JEAN:MY DAUGHTER ANGELINA HAS GREAT POTENTIAL

Submitted by blackcelebritykids on May 15, 2008 at 3:33 pm 21 Comments

Musician and producer Wyclef Jean sees great potential for his daughter Angelina Claudinelle, who Wyclef and wife Claudinette adopted from Haiti in March 2005:

My wife Claudinette, and I have had Angelina, who is Haitian and Guyanese, since she was about 3 days old,so I see her as ours. On our first night together,we just lay there gazing at our daughter, playing with her.It was really emotional. You always hear tales about how being a parent will change you,but it’s not until the child comes that you start to trip out.Growing up with West Indian parents was tough love for me. I got whupped. But the way my father raised me actually made me stronger. However,I’ve decided that with my daughter,if there’s something that i don’t agree with,I’ll just sit her down and we’ll talk. I’m so excited about watching her grow into the woman she’ll become. I can already see that she has such potential and a great heart.”

  • lilkunta says:

    Angelina is beautiful.

Wyclef being a Haitian Im very surprised he is calling himself “west indian”. Ive never heard this from a Haitiain. I heard Trinidadians say this, bc they are of Indian descent.

    • Leo says:

The term ‘West Indian’ doesn’t have anything to do with being Indian or Indian descent. It’s a name that was applied to the Caribbean region ever since Columbus got here by accident and thought he reached India. The later European powers used ‘East Indies’ to refer to their holdings in India/Asia and ‘West Indies’ in reference to their Caribbean colonies.

Ok, school’s over. Turning my brain off now. :D

  • neenee says:

    WHAT!!
I THOUGHT SHE WAS HIS BIOLOGICAL DAUGHTER SHE LOOKS JUST LIKE HIM…
WHEN GOD MADE THIS UNION HE HAD A SMERK ON HIS FACE,

  • Jacqui says:

She is so beautiful! See black men & black women make beautiful children. Some of y’all get so hung up on having a child that is mixed, you forget your roots! No disrespect to anyone who is mixed, you can’t help who you fall in love with, but some folks choose to ignore black love thinking the grass is greener on the other side.

  • kaysha says:

  • lady E says:

SHES PRETTY SHE LOOKS LIKE HER DAD EVENTHOUGH SHE IS ADOPTED THEYY SAY IF YOU KEEP A CHILD LONG ENOUGH AND TAKE CARE OF HER THEY START TO LOOK LIKE YOU

  • stephanie says:

    ok
    1. both wyclef and his daughter are hatian descent they bound to look alike
    2. i m so happy for them
im not against white people adopting black kids ( but look in the media and personally there are shows of a white family that aopted a black kid and know he founds himself and not being black enough )
my descent is haitan , and my parents adopted my brother sergio , shaylin , and me , stephanie ,sandra and steven ( i know i all s ) i didnt know they was adopted , but it blended
    1. since they was orphans they extended family became easy
    2. there wasnt a cultural background block ( white people dont take consideration when adopting somewone forom a diffrent race it diffrent skin litreally ,hair everything , when white opel prem their hair it goes curly and when black people do it , it goes straight and mangaging black hair is diffult )
3.they didnt know ( im sorry to sound racist but in a young age they can tell short stroy i was in the library a white woman adopted a black girl the girl was naturally graviated to me and she kept following me she uforuntely called me mom and kept thinking that because i live in predominatley white town )
4.raisng a child difrent ethnicity is hard ,because at the end of the day unfounelty with the money you spent and time you waited
if you have a black firend which is ideal but also the black child can relate to them .( i knew someone and she asked to live wit her “aunt” and wanted her to be her mother , and the woman stopped being freinds with the black woman but to the child , she knew her as mom .
    so think carefully
but to ALL MY HAITANS LETS KEEP ADOPTING WE DOIN THE RIGHT THING , MY MOTHER SAYS EVERYTIME YOU ADOPT ONE FROM YOUR OWN DESCENT YOU SAVING A RACE THNIK BOUT IT

AND IM MARRIED ,HE JAMACIAN AND WE DIDIDNT KNOW WHAT TO CHOOSE WE RESEARCHED WE DECIDED TO ADOPT ST. LUCIANS SINCE IT WAS A FRENCH/ENGLISH COLONY GOINGG BACK AND FORTH AND OUR KIDS ARE GLUENT IN ENGLISH ,PATIOS ,FRENCH AND ESPECIALLY CREOLE

I THINK IT BRIDGES BOTH OUR NATIONALITES !!!
