Hey, whatever! I don’t personally agree with a lot of people’s personal choices, but as an artist Ms. Badu is off the charts and has my respect in that arena. obviously she is able to handle her business and do what she needs to make a life for her kids so it is probably best to leave that alone. Most of us just want to know what’s happening in theses people’s lives and when it doesn’t conform to out morals and our thinking we then feel inclined to make judgement calls on others’ charater and moral values. Again I feel like people make their own choices and wheter we like it or not that is just life. Ms. Badu is still one of the sexiest and soulful black women that I have followed in many years. I love her style, her artistry. We would all be fools to believe that with her lyrics and style that she would be mainstream, like many brothers out there I wish she were mine, so do be trying act all silly and say that if it were you you wouldn’t be the same. Let some of those handsome rich fly guys pass through and give you a chance and I bet many of ya’ll would be maxin on kids too! Erykah is still sexy, soulful and genuine, lets keep loving her, she’s cool!

I really respect and admire your work as a musician 1st of all. 2nd of all I can truely relate from where your coming from with I myself having 3 children wit 3 different father’s and am now married to a wonderful black king with a child wit him as well who cares for my other children as if they came from his own loins. I agree & support you with taken a stand your taking in protecting yourself and your children it just goes to show how foolish people can be and most likely they are in the same situation in there own personal lives with either having a child(ren)with someone that there not with or have been pregnant by different men and chose to have an abortion instead of giving life(this isn’t a put down cuz I understand that too) but in the same manner that people try to put other people down is quite silly and they need to take a long deep look @ themselves because “THE POT CAN’T CALL THE KETTLE BLACK” if you know what I mean…. I am middle class, always have been and if marriage is really what you say it is Not Buying It, then way are there children from 2 parents homes doing the same thing. You are not in her class, not to put this in a rude way but you aren’t. I am not either but you are seeing this from a different level. You see problems and she can’t see those because they aren’t on her level. They aren’t on mine either, yes I see them for lower classes but as long as I have love and I am caring and I can support a baby and I am ready for one, it doesn’t matter if I am married. That is ideology from a different era of people and it is holding our nation back. Don’t group everyone together that way, every family is different, they all have there own problems. A support system is all you can give, and if the baby turns to a dark side you really can’t change that. You can teach the way you want them to go but you can’t make them go.

Miss BADU: Your outrage put tears in my eyes and released my soul that connects with yours. If I could write a book I would name “What difference does it make” I have 2 sons 15 years apart one married both make from love from 2 men who will always love me and whom I will always love.I am a college educated women who was blessed who never asked for a dime from anyone for them and whom was offered nothing but dollars from the dad’s. I had a high risk preg. moved in with my mom to make sure my baby made it to me….it is amazing the amount of people had something to ask/say about my biggest accomplishment. I keep it short, When they wonder what why or whom you decide to pro create with and why I waited so long my answer is my son was born from immaculate conception…what are you asking to be Joseph? Until /unless your plan is to raise a child that clearly is not yours than there should be no ques asked from someone who really understand how important my role is and how much I love my boys.
I am so glad I read your posting, my confirmation of my greatness as a mother is in my oldest child happiness, intelligence and heart my babies smile is what I thought was all I needed..as the tears continually stream down my face, all I can say is thank you, I must have needed just a little more.

I think that Ms.B is on she is smart. You all have no problem listening to her music. But then you want to judge her walk. We all have a path to walk and most are not easy. So worry about yourself and what you are doing. Stop talking about black America and start talking about who you are. You can go to the best colleges in this country and still have not one drop of self awareness. Keep talking about others and how they live and you will never find who you are. Strengthen your hearts and minds and stop tearing down each other. This world is tough and beats us down enough. Start uplifting yourselves then you can uplift the people. hey i just came across this i applaud Ms.Badu for standing up for herself and not letting her so call fans insult her, who are we to judge clearly people these days dont have no common sense. I say have all the babies you want with as many baby fathers as you would like what ever makes you happy. as long as you are taking care of them and raising them to be a good person through out there life what does it matter how many kids she has you negative people really need to take a hard look in the mirror and ask yourself what can you do to shake that hating syndrome.

I think Ms. Badu is a fine role model, with plenty of self worth, and (calm yourself for a novel idea) maybe she doesn’t want to be a wife!!!
Morals and values should co-exist with intelligence. Think about the big picture, and what really brings people happiness. I know a piece of paper from the govt. won’t make me as happy as the blessing of my own womb. Who is anyone to judge what is “acceptable”? ~I think I’d rather leave that up to my cat than any one person.

I have NEVER responded to a blogg in my life. I heard about this on our local radio station in Atlanta GA. I hope you read this.

I was shocked about your response to Bill Cosby’s statement about un-wed mothers. He was not speaking to you personally, he was specking about the state of the African American family in general. He was speaking about how we, as adults make decisions that effect the children and the spiritual fiber that eventually effects and shapes our society as a whole. FEELING JUDGED, I KNOW YOU WERE SPEAKING OUT OF HURT. As a mother, I know you want to do what is best for your children. Speaking from the children’s point of view, as a mother, you would want your children to have a family with the same LOVING, PROVIDING and PROTECTIVE FATHER, that loves, honor, respects, and cherishes their mother in the same household, teaching them to love honor and respect themselves and others.

YOU CAN NOT TELL ME , YOU DO NOT WISH THAT FOR YOUR CHILDREN YOU CHOOSE TO BRING INTO THIS HARSH AND UNFORGIVING WORD!!!!!!

Honey, I do fell your pain. We all make chooses we may not be proud of, but we grow and learn and try to do better at making right choices for our children.

I to, am a un-wed mother of 4 beautiful children, they all have the same father that I was married to for 15yrs before he left us.

The damage to our children because of his choices will forever leave a scare. It is up to me as their mother to do my best when allowing any man to have the GREATEST PLEASURE of becoming part of my children’s life. My children are a gift to this world, and I will not share them with just anybody. He will have to be a very SPECIAL MAN, and he is, I THANK GOD EVERYDAY, that, that men found me. It was a year in a half before he even meet my children. He is a man that respects me and my children and understands his role and influence in their life. My children are blessed to have 2 loving men in their life, one of which is their biological father, the other is the man that loves, honors, respects, and cherishes, me, their mother. And NO!! ARE NOT MARRIED BY LAW, NOR WILL WE. WE ARE BOUND BY OUR SPIRIT.

I pray for you and your children much happiness and peace.
