Rev Run and Justine Simmons say that adoption is a “beautiful thing.” The Simmons adopted 10-month-old Miley Simmons whose real name was changed from Emily, about a year ago,and almost a year after their baby girl Victoria Anne died from birth complications.Prior to having Victoria Anne,Justine,42, had toiled with the idea of adoption;Rev run,on the other hand, hadn’t. Rev had wanted to have a baby the natural way:

“I thought it was just that easy.’Ok ,you want a baby?Let’s have one,’” [Rev] says.”I believe that my mind wasn’t in adoption mode at that time.God re-arranged my mind…Now it’s the most beautiful thing in the world.”

Justine would like to adopt another girl again, this time a two year old:

“There are other women out there who can’t have babies and they keep trying. They get so caught up with ‘I gotta have my own,’”she states,”I forget sometimes that Miley is adopted. If people knew that they would get that feeling from adoption,i think more [couples] would adopt and not go through the heartache of trying and miscarrying.”

Besides Miley,the Simmons have five other children:Vanessa,25, Angela,21,Jojo,18, Diggy,13, and Russy,11.

The Simmons have a new book on parenting called “Take back Your Family:A  Challenge to America’s Parents, which hits bookshelves on August 5th.
