I grew up with Evin, she is not an elitest she is actually a very giving, caring and down to earth person. I think what she said is being misunderstood.

It's really, really said that this girl does not have a clue. What she says should not be a reflection on Bill and his wife; I think they tried to raise her in the right way. She's just snooty all by herself. Bill is still a role model and I respect him. His daughter is really clueless. She looks like the rest of us doesn't she? Has she looked in the mirror? She's black and she can't change that!!!!

i read this site everyday and i dont ever comment but her comments were wrong on so many levels. she says that she grew up priviledged but not around african americans, i resent her hinting that black and priviledged are opposites. she speaks of her father's contributions to the "neighborhood", but she doesnt speak of hers. are they nonexistent?

Also about her speaking like a white woman? Is she serrious? Does she equate speaking black with hiphop? If you are a black woman, how can u speak any way but black. My impression is that she is thinking she speaks like a white woman because we as black people are buffoons. I am disappointed in her, and deeply disappointed in her father for raising such a snooty, clueless daughter. I will never look at Cosby show the same.

Privileged people sell clothes? I guess all that education really made a difference....not! Camille and Bill should have taught their daughter to have some class and grace. She sounds snotty and snooty.

I am confussed because that means she can not relate to her own family because her mother and father didn't come from privilege. And alot of her relatives are not. But I guess she can relate to people taking drugs cause at one point her oldest sister was very addicted. LOL

Wait...dissecting her comment more, it's kinda rubbing me the wrong way now. I hope she doesn't equate herself with being white and that she doesn't equate blackness with being wrong. Because now that's what it's sounding like.

For some reason, her comment didn't rub me the wrong way - and I get rubbed the wrong way EASILY. I think she was just telling it how it is. If you're born and raised upper-class, you're accustomed to certain things and associating with certain people and mainly relate to those things and those people. It sounds to me that she's struggling with her blackness and wanting to assert herself as her own person.

And also when she said "people like me" - I don't necessarily think she met white people. I think she meant privileged people in general.

So while what she said may have been kinda "WTF?" - I sorta can understand where she is coming from. I don't really agree, though, I personally believe in having a diverse group of friends but yeah. And if you're African American, or a minority in general, it's SO important to know where you came from and not just forget your fellow people of color and their ongoing struggle just because *you* made it - or your daddy made it.

Reading her comments over, I truly wonder what the context of her comment was.
