HOW NBA PLAYER BRANDON ROY PROPOSED TO HIS BABY MAMA

Submitted by blackcelebritykids on August 19, 2008 at 4:00 pm 5 Comments

NBA player Brandon Roy of the Portland Trail Blazers has revealed how he asked his longtime girlfriend and mother of his child, Tiana Bardwell, to marry him. The proposal happened on June 16 at Roy’s home in Renton, Wash., and of course, Bardwell said yes.

As told by Tiana Baldwell …Tiana recalls the story while holding a hand to her chest, the scenario still dear to her:

He came back from working out and told me he wanted to take me to look at rings so he could get an idea of what I liked,” Bardwell said. “But he said he wanted to take a nap first. After he woke up, he said he wanted to eat before we left, and so he went downstairs.

“Then he sent me a text, and said to look in his drawer in his closet. He said ‘If you find something, you can have it’.”

Bardwell was confused.

“I sent a text back saying ‘What are you talking about? What drawer?’”

She discovered the correct drawer and started digging.

“I’m pulling out all these Portland jerseys and then at the bottom there was a box,” Bardwell said. “And I got all emotional.”

At that time, Roy walked in the room with their 16-month-old son, Brandon Jr. (whom they call BJ).

“He got on a knee while holding BJ, and he said ‘BJ wants to know if you will marry his daddy?’ ”

Brandon, who is a bit bashful, has said that his proposal wasn’t planned.”[he] just kind of free-styled.” The couple plan to wed in August of 2009.
