Presidential Democratic Nominee Senator Barack Obama gave his acceptance speech yesterday(August 28,2008)and has become the first African -American to be nominated for presidency. On the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr’s  ”I have a dream speech”, Barack Obama brought more than 75,000 supporters to their feet  with an acceptance speech equally as moving as that of King’s. There to celebrate the momentous event were  Barack’s daughters Malia,10, and Sasha,7,his wife Michelle Obama and his Vice-Presidential Nominee Joe Biden, along with Biden’s family. Here is an excerpt from Obama’s 2008 acceptance speech:

Four years ago, I stood before you and told you my story — of the brief union between a young man from Kenya and a young woman from Kansas who weren’t well-off or well-known but shared a belief that in America, their son could achieve whatever he put his mind to.It is that promise that has always set this country apart — that through hard work and sacrifice, each of us can pursue our individual dreams but still come together as one American family, to ensure that the next generation can pursue their dreams as well.”~Presidential Nominee Barack Obama
