In 1982 I was living in Australia and visited/stayed with a girlfriend who had moved back to LA. Another mutual girlfriend from Australia was also in LA. Stevie came over twice to visit our mutual girlfriend -- and played the stand-up piano in the livingroom! He was as sweet as sugar. Charming. Low key. A bigger surprise: Our mutual girlfriend was pregnant* by Stevie. More than anything else, what saddened me is that she was so cute and he'd never be able to see her. I'll only let on that she was a dancer in Australia but was originally from an island off of Africa. Alas, I've lost touch with both friends. *Do the math.
