Friday, Oct 24 , 2008 10:28:pm by blackcelebritykids FILED UNDER News

VIA DBTECHNO:
A major health scare has taken place at the Normandy High School in St. Louis, Missouri as it is believed that 50 students at the school were exposed to HIV.A plan is already in motion to try and get these 50 Missouri high school students tested for HIV.

The students are believed to have been exposed to HIV at the Normandy High School after a positive test came back a week ago.Authorities have not stated who the positive test came from, teacher or student.

They fear though the HIV could have been spread via sexual activity, tattoos, or drugs.

So far officials are not sure how many of the 1,300 students will volunteer to be tested. All tests, however, will be performed in secrecy with parts of the school gymnasium being split in six stations where only health officials and students are allowed.

THESE SITUATIONS ARE SO AWFUL AND TO THINK SOME PEOPLE DO NOT AGREE WITH SEXUAL EDUCATION. TRUE ENOUGH NO ONE WANTS TO FACE THE FACT THEIR KID IS HAVING SEX ( NO MATTER HOW MUCH WE TRY TO PROTECT) BUT I WHETHER KNOW THAT THEN THAT THEIR LIFE IS COMPLETELY LIMITED DUE TO A DISEASE OR PREGNANCT

But Felicia, sex ed has been around for ages. I really believe teens know about birth control and such. Birth control is accessible at our local drug stores, but nothing’s (including abstinence, which is the only sure way of protection) is going to work if kids don’t practice what they know. This is truly a very tragic story. Hopefully parents will take the responsibility of talking to their children about sex. If they unable to, at least have another caring adult do so. School can only teach so much.

Teri, I agree with you. Once the kids are taught it’s up to them to do the right thing. It’s sad that so many are still naive enough to think it’s okay and that it won’t happen to them. Even sadder is that there are adults who still are not practicing safe sex.

I hope most of them get tested. And I hope they contain it.

Terri, you’d be surprised at how little teens (and adults for that matter) really know. I don’t think that most pay attention in sex ed or maybe the parents didn’t talk to them. I’m in college right now and we had a discusiion about protection when an AIDS victim came to speak. I can’t tell you how many of my peers (boys and girls) didn’t know to leave space at the tip of a condom. Some even believed that two HIV positive people could have sex unprotected and that would be ok.

@Blue>>>Unbelievable. We have so much information via television, Internet, magazines, etc. and people still don’t have a clue. It’s very difficult for my mind to wrap about that. Like Mimosa said, there are teens and adults who believe they are invincible. SMH.
