Rapper Coolio a.k.a Artis Leon Ivey has a new reality television show which premieres on Oxygen network tonight. The father of four will star in the reality show “Coolio’s Rules” with his four children Artisha 20, Brandi 20, Artis 18, and Jackie, 15. So what is rule number one?

“Rule No. 1: If you don’t work, you don’t eat,” Coolio told the Daily News. “And if you don’t clean up, than you can’t eat up.”

The show follows Coolio as he tries to balance his career as a musician, his catering business (yes, he’s a cook), looking for love, and being a single parent raising his four kids, Artisha 20, Brandi 20, Artis 18, and Jackie, 15.
“

I’m just trying to approach things from a different way,” he said. “I’m trying to have a fresh perspective on dealing with kids because kids today have to deal with so much more than what I had to deal with when I was their age.”

The rapper said he’s been approached on several occasions to do a reality show, but it wasn’t until his kids were old enough and comfortable with the idea that he seriously considered the opportunity.

“I came home and said, ‘Listen, people are talking to me about doing a reality show with you guys. Do you want to do it?’” said Coolio. “They were like, ‘Shaka Zulu, Daddy! Let’s do it!’”

In addition to getting to see what the rapper’s life is like on a day-to-day basis - he’s filmed promoting his latest album and whipping up recipes in his fancy kitchen - audiences also get to see what the life of a celebrity’s offspring is like, including Artisha and Brandi’s first dates, buying their first cars, throwing their first unauthorized house party and Artis’ first time in the studio.

“I would prefer for him to be a Harvard graduate and go on to win a Nobel Peace Prize, but I don’t think that’s going to happen,” said Coolio of his son. “He’s a chip off the old block.”
