To iamthking... the reason that we specifically state a strong black family, is if we are honest..is a bit of a defensive mechanism. Defensive because we are often bombarded by only the negatives of black families. For example, most black families are led by single moms. Not to say that this does not occur in other ethnic groups. Therefore when we (as black people) see a full family represented, long marriage tenure... we acknowledge the "strength" of the family (parents) in keeping their families intact. I hope that this sheds some insights for you. To Zee, take a little time to breathe, and then provide responses that will help us understand each other a little better, rather than the antagonistic position that you have assumed in your response to iamtheking Hi:

I think Barack Obama said something about rebuilding black families and I agree. There isa difference between wanting to see positive families and continuing segregation. Nowadays there are black and asian kids adopted into white families and blacks married to other races.
