We moved 2009 to a prodominatley white community and school. My children are “picked on everyday. 3/26/09 My 14 yr old was picked up by his hands and feet and was told he would be hung.Now, he fears for his life.

And about the comment “the country their forefathers built” I found that funny as well, but that is what the schools history classes spout to your childen and mine as well as theirs. I heard of a story in Georgia where a black history teacher got in trouble for putting President Obama on her classroom wall- and she was teaching her students about current events (and if anyone on the forum knows more about this story, let me know because I want to know the outcome)! The truth here is the people who feel as if their whole world is now turned upside down should just suck it up and get on with trying to better their lives instead of focusing on hatred.

Don’t live in fear, change is a hard thing for some people to swallow, but it is not like racism is new…it is just a little more blatant right now. I have just moved away from Georgia and was born and raised in Arkansas-the threat that someone might harm you or your children for being of color is always there, but you learn to keep your eyes and ears open to notice any insane happenings that may occur, that being said I am glad about President Obama being in the White House. Those people who choose to believe that the world only belongs to them will need to get a grip on reality at some point and realize that their narrow-minded thinking will only be their downfall in the end.

Are you kiddding me ,his sucess is such a blessing to us all. Time or change all the way. Can u imagine compared to all of the obama supporters what an uproar there would have been if he did not win.All of the celebrities ,socialites ,politicians ,ect that annonced that they supported him.o.k LadyOne less people are pissed THIS WAY dont u think?I for one am more than rejoiced that are country can finally better itself and have a bright future.I am sure a lot more people are happy that he one to.but i also can see where your coming from but i dont think you should be fearful or that the fear is necessary.

Although people must remember that it’s not all white people before we start making generalisations. let’s not get all, ‘we are the supreme race and ‘my president is black so there…’ ( i know of ppl whp’ve said that smh)
Forefathers… yeah i was SMH too, Potok and ‘his large white subset’ need to go back to school, cos i know the damn history and I’m not even American. You cnt change everyone’s attitudes which is sad but if there’s any discrimination going on… thats where you have to act. people shouldnt be suffering in silence. If there’s one thing black ppl know how to do, its to stand together when there’s injustice/discrimnation against our people.

Why is it that a Black Man can create a tiny piece called a filament (electric light – Lewis Latimer) that allows people to see in the dark…But can’t be seen fit to lead a country to the true light?

Why is it that a Black Man can create an instrument (clock – Benjamin Banneker) that all people use to tell time…But people don’t think it is time for him to run a country?

Why is it that a Black Man can design a place for the high authorities to meet in and a place for the president to live in (The Capital and the White House designed by Phillip Reid (a slave ) and Pierre L’Enfant)…But not good enough to lead these meetings or live in it himself?

Why is it that a Black Man was brilliant enough to do the first open heart surgery (Dr. Daniel Hale Williams) and show the world how to get and preserve plasma (Dr. Charles Drew)…But not good enough to put a program in place where everyone can afford this surgery?
Why is it that a Black Man was creative enough to design an instrument (traffic light – Garrett Morgan) to bring multiple people (traffic) to a halt… But not seen creative enough to design a plan to bring all this unnecessary and worthless fighting between countries?

Why is it that a Black Man could create the soles (shoes – Jan Matzeliger) that people walk on every day…But not seen good enough to fill the shoes of a bad president?

Why is it that a Black Man was smart enough and brave enough to teach himself (Fredrick Douglas and Thomas Fuller – both slaves) and others how to read, write and/or calculate math….But not seen smart enough and bold enough to calculate a platform to be President to a country that sure needs another first by us?

My Brother and Sisters, let us not forget our past, which led us to our present and can definitely be the backbone to our future. We were good enough, smart enough, creative enough, and bold enough then, we are good enough, smart enough, creative, NOW!! my beautiful black strong, men!!! i love you and stand by your black women!!! and black women do the same!! if we stand together no other race in this world can hold a candle to our strength, talent and beauty!!!
