Disney's next animated film will have an African-american princess. Disney is way ahead of Angelina. Hasbro used to sell a Barbie sub-line with three African-american characters, each with different facial features and skin tones. They didn't sell very well. What has been said above is true - Angelina's adopted daughter is going to have a hard time dealing with the fact that she doesn't look like her mother, father or siblings... kind of cruel, when you think about it. Ah, well, Zahara will be wealthy for no other reason than being picked out of a crowd.

I was really astonished by this article... unfortunately in a bad way... ok... i understand wanting to help children no matter the race and totaly agree with it but the "can't find barbie with curly hair" is just as ridiculous as it gets... well from where i live my grandmother told me the only toys they had were made by themselves so living in the rural zone the toys were made out of corn with buttons as eyes and wrapped up in old cloth :) and it would be called a baby doll (well there were plastic toys too but they were as expensive as one or two months salary)... now really would it be that hard just to take a barbie or whatever doll remove the hair... keep some hair from the child's haircut and glue it to the dolls head? Then you would have the PERFECT hair for the barbie doll :) exactly like your daughters... and your daughter would have a unique doll , if you made it right and it looks good you would feel good because of your acomplishment (so put heart in what you do). And last but not least your child would have a barbie doll which could be the envy of the other childern (if this is what you desire) well what other kid could say they got a barbie that matches their hair? :) also you could comb it any way you want and if the hair got destroyed in the process you can always get a replacement. (sorry for my english... it's not my first language) best of wishes to all :) and try not to fight over silly matters unless you enjoy to argue and blame somebody else for everything that happens to you.

Issues about black princesses and curly headed barbies are the least of that childs worries. She is growing up in a house were NO ONE looks like her. The boys are the same, then you got her own biological kids...poor Z is on the outskirts. I am not a fan or promotor of Jolie and I give her NO credit. Why? How many African American children suffer here everyday? Plenty! All she is doing is collecting children and it's sick. I understand wanting to help others..especially children..but I'm not a believer in this womans hyped up sainthood. How about helping those children born addidcted to drugs, or the older kids that no one wants to adopt? The HIV babies, handicapped...the list goes on...

Í applaud Angie´s comments....I´m white and have a daughter with my African (Cameroon) fiance over here in Germany....now...in Germany it´s even harder finding black puppets than in the States...but it´s still managable.....

to the hair issue again...I applaud everyone who stays away from hair with all those strong chemicals...I´ve seen it with my man´s hair even...friend´s of mine.......my daughter Kandice´s hair is usually naturally....I comb it...from time to time I braid it as well...I don´t know why...but her hair is the way it is...I comb it daily....but don´t want to teach her that anything was wrong with it, by straightenin it and stuff like that....If she likes to do so later when she is older....fine....I won´t start it tho

I agree, but she sounds as if she just learned that. That this has just happened. Not being able to find a doll with your hair...that's life for a black girl growing up 24/7.
I guess people have only just begun to realize how hard it is to be a black kid, especially a black little girl.

Zahara's hair does not need a hot comb! If she has typical Ethiopian hair, she will be able to use a little oil and mousee to keep curls, until she decides what she wants to do with her hair. And who told you white chicks can't care for black hair? My momma did fine with ours!

@Krisskross Can you really be angry with her for not noticing? Angelina is a completely different person now than she was before. She was probably the typical self-absorbed white american actress who was not even concerned with life outside America (and i believe that this is what even she herself has said). Now she is far more aware and involved, and yes, because she now has a black daughter she is now noticing. I commend her for doing what she is doing with zaharah and undoubtedly Pax and Maddox. When white ppl don't notice, we complain, when they do, we still gonna complain?? I don't think thats a good attitude. I think we have all seen those situations where ppl adopt outside their race and make no effort to educate the kids on their culture/history. At least she is aware and making an effort.
