Smile, how cute, look at little Sasha talking her sister’s ear off. They look like they have a great bond. It is so nice to see them as they are littel girls who so happen to be living an extraordinary life right now but without a care in the world. I look forward to seeing and hearing good things about them. Smile

What~ no comments about their hair?

Cee Cee-
Nope, not needed. There hair looks beautiful and healthy. Many blk women should take note from Michelle and let there daughters be proud of their heritage instead od burning the sh*t out of it. That is why Malia and Sasha hair is down there back.

I for one am thrilled they’re not all permed-up from the neck-up, but I have to say..there’s nothing wrong with actually braiding their hair in preparation for the first day of school.
I understand they must be very very busy, but having their hair looking so fuzzy is unnecessary. All you need is some grease and a brush. Or better yet, take out the braids and give them some afro puffs..just something to make it look as if someone groomed them before they went out the door.
*braces* for the shots fired in my direction for daring to critcize our Prez & first lady.

Girls looks great- nice to see their naturalness. And, they did have their hair “straightened” during the Inaguaral, interestingly enough.
Face it – the majority of us Blacks still prefer the European standard of beauty. *sigh*

I, for one, love how NORMAL and NATURAL LOOKING these girls look—from the hair down to the clothes! Anyone who’s a Mama knows that there simply aren’t enough hours in a day, whether you’re a stay at home mom or First Lady of the USA. My child is biracial and i cant tell you how many times i’ve put a hat on her head while we were out running errands. I’d rather make sure she has eaten than how straight the parts are in her hair.
I can especially appreciate how grounded the Obama family is in general. They maybe millionaires but that doesn’t affect where they shop or what they buy.
SIDE NOTE: I so feel your comment Cee Cee

@ Mel……. I’m actually glad they look like NORMAL kids. their parents keep them age appropriate (hair and clothes) and I love it. Where in any book does it say that you have to live up to any standards regarding how your hair looks? Any other picture we’ve seen of them their hair is very nice. You get one picture and and here we go with the WHACK hair comments again. I do my daughters braids once a week. They may be fresh on Monday but by Thursday (depending on her activities for the week) they look just like that…So simple to make such a STUPID comment. Show us a picture of your kids hair on a daily basis so we can judge them.

Actually I disagree Ugogirl…aside from the inauguration or interviews, usually Malia’s hair ALWAYS looks ungroomed.
Seriously, I’m not saying their hair needs to be straightened (in fact I wish I never straightened my own), but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with combing a child’s hair more regularly.
