Yes, she over reacted. The name looks like she picked letters out of a hat and put them together. How do you even pronounce that?!

It looks like you pronounce it “Ick-Id” Which is about the same as Ickitt, so yeah she overreacted.

Sincerely hope that the baby’s name is in recognition of M.I.A’s Sri Lankan roots. If not, then it’s just plain daft.

She’s not American, so maybe the name is native to Sri Lanka.

Maybe the name’s Sri Lankan and that’s why she reacted like that. It’s true how would you pronounce that name.

I’m sure the baby name holds major significance or some sort of religious meaning. M.I.A may have overreacted because the name is personal to her.

I don’t think she overreacted, she’s right, he’s a baby-he don’t need press. And I’m glad MIA is on here, because she’s a person of color (and I personally like the various browns and Black unity) and in case that doesn’t fly with everyone, the baby’s father is half Black. I don’t know about the origin of the name though.

Not big on the name but I’ve seen pics of the baby and he is very cute. Maybe he’ll go by the nickname of Ed or something. A lot of guys I know usually go by their middle name because they hate their first name….it happens.
