ZIGGY MARLEY AND FAMILY
Ziggy Marley and family attended the 1st Annual T.J. Martell Family Day held at The Los Angeles Zoo on March 29, 2009 in Los Angeles, California. Ziggy is pictured with his wife Orly and their children three-year-old daughter Judah and baby Gideon,2.
Ziggy is set to release a children’s album in May and he says his two youngest inspired him to make the album: “Growing up music was an important part of my childhood,” Marley says. “I see it being just as important in my children and all children’s growth and development. Music helps children to grow with open minds and open hearts and this is my message. This record represents my daily family life and is inspired by my three-year-old daughter Judah and baby Gideon. It was a joy to make and opened up new avenues in my creativity. Family Time is for all families and especially the world family.”
In all, Ziggy has five children.

Boy are americans stupid. First off the Rastafarian movement is NOT ABOUT BLACK LOVE! Have you ever listened to Bob Marleys music? Which about unity and one love (duh one of his own songs). And in case you didn’t know Bob Marley’s father was white. Therefore Ziggy has white in him.

@ Tina, I am not American. I’m Grenadian but I asked that question because the Rastafarians I meet are all for black love and going back to their roots and stuff (think Marcus Garvey). Although Bob Marley is linked to Rastafarianism there is more to the movement than HIM, so I ent know why de hell u getting on so, who pull u tail?
exactly the movement was before bob marley was even born..but i love born and we know he’s biracial.. he recognized he was biracial but choose to identify as a black african…..ex: black survival…he even spoke in interviews saying “the white man”….but whatever he was raised by a black woman so of course dats how he grew to see himself a mixed man,who was black conscious…and no people i am not american born Jamaican!

1) as a jamaican i can tell you that rastafarianism was created decades before bob marley was born. also, its creation was ALL about resistance to the white colonizers/former enslavers, and ALL about connecting with our african roots. i find it shocking that a real rasta is married to a white woman.
2) yes, she is white. jewish.
3) bob marley has a white father, but bob was raised by his black mother. bob referred to himself as a black man. in his songs he even insulted white people at times. don’t you know who he means when he says “chase those crazy baldheads outta town”? no,not all people without locks. he meant the white colonizers, enslavers and missionaries. hevolutionary music. he sang so many songs about black liberation.
if you are not from jamaica, please educate yourself before making statements about aspects of our history. if yuh from yard an’ yuh no know bout rasta, learn yuh history! of course the majority of jamaicans are not rasta, but it was something created in our country. all jamaicans should know about the background.
Some of these comments make me laugh!!! First of all Rastafari was created way before Bob Marley was alive, and it is about black empowerment and a belief about the return to Africa. Second Ziggy’s wife is Israeli(jew not arab) which does not surprise me since the rastafari religion is a mixture of Judaism and Christianity. Thirdly, Bob Marley’s father was a white Englishman and if you do the research the Marley name has origins from the Jews in Syria. And lastly thousands of Jamaicans have jewish blood you can check out the history easily on the web, jamaica has an abundance of Levy’s, Goldings, Stern’s, Goldsmiths, Matalon’s, Cohen’s etc…
He has five chldren and I wonder why I am always seeing him with these two? The Marleys are known to have kids from many different races, however the women who they marry are white, indian etc. I love Damian’s music but I heard he is disrespectful to black women. This is what I don’t understand how can u love African culture, traditions but not women of African descent???

Yes, Rastafarianism initially was a movement for BLACK AWARENESS, BLACK INITY, BLACK LOVE and BLACK LIBERATION! Rastararianism is not BOB MARLEY! This movement mobilized way before Bob accepted the rasta consciousness which happened in his early 20’s…
Check up on Leonard Howell…the FIRST RASTA! his philosophy was to confront colonialism and expose the wretched conditions of black people created by slave history. He encouraged black awareness of self! Marcus Garvey furthered this movement with the notion to go back to AFRICA.
Rastafarianism was about Black empowerment! but that did not mean to “hate” white folks. No, it was to destroy colonialism or any oppressor that perpetuated slavery or the demise of black consciousness. Rasta’s speak of love and understanding and that was the route that Bob Marley took with his music although he was very outspoken about black inity as well as his feelings towards white superiority! Not just white folks, but WHITE SUPREMACY! Yes his father was white… BUT HE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH HIS UPBRINGING!!! I always find it interesting that there is such a focus on the fact that his father was white. The man did not want to be in his life, so please stop talking about his white father as if he was really a FATHER!!
As a black Haitian who Embrace rastafariansim, i think its a beautiful thing that this movement has grown as much as it has… Its a global movement! people of all nationalities and races have accepted this lifestyle because they understand that at the root of it its about disseminating BABYLON! POWER STRUCTURE! INJUSTICE! NOTIONS OF RACE! and embracing THE HUMAN RACE AS ONE!

… I find it interesting that the Marley brothers seem to only choose “white” women as the mother of their children(if indeed its a fact). it is not that they perhaps date women of all races, but they seem to systematically keep the black sista out of the picture… and its a group effort! LOL…This is a pattern that says something about what they think is beautiful and what they really think about Black Beauty.. Especially if its true of what is said about ziggy disrespecting black women. How can you preach love about it but dismiss it??? But hey… to each his own right? remember they were not raised with the type of struggle and the era of black consciousness that their father grew up in… but even he loved the taste of Babylonian women when they became easily available to him.
