KEKE PALMER REACTS TO BCK READERS (ABOUT THOSE COMMENTS)
Teen star Keke Palmer has reacted to comments about the purple leather dress she wore to the Kids Choice Awards. Although BCK readers’ comments weren’t the worst(thank goodness for BCK comments’ rules), she did cite Blackcelebkids.com as one of the blogs she wanted to address:
…I was going to ignore comments, but I decided that I should speak. Yesterday on the blogs[Blackcelebkids.com was listed first] below several people left comments saying that my purple leather dress that I wore to KCA’s was” too short”, or that I was ” inappropriately dressed” for the KCA’s.
Again, at first I was going to ignore their comments because I know haters are going to be haters, but a lot of people wrote comments that were totally incorrect like :
” she is 14 and too young to wear that dress”
” they are turning her into a slut , where are her parents”
” she is way too dressed up for Kid’s Choice”I feel I need to address some of these untrue statements, first of all I am not 14, or 11 like I was when I played Akeelah 4 years ago.
Secondly, I will be 16 years old and I wore a mini dress nothing was showing my breasts were covered, my thighs were covered ,when I bent over you could not see my panties or anything like that, it was a perfectly cut mini dress, and my parents are great parents they liked the dress and saw nothing wrong with it. As you can see from the picture below with Emma Roberts, her dress is the same length and we are teenagers what do you want us to wear? Both of us made Vogue’s Look -of- the Day, hey that’s not shabby!
Lastly, I have to wear heavy make up when taking a ton of pictures because if I don’t my skin will photograph with blemishes and then people will write, ” she looks bad, she should wear make up”, so you see I cannot win for losing!
I just want to set the record straight, I know everyone will not like everything I wear, but a lot of thought goes behind every single outfit, trust me before I put it on Larry and Sharon Palmer have approved it ! So, please to all of my fans when you see me wear something that’s young, hip, and might show my legs off a little bit don’t freak out , I appreciate all comments the good ones and especially the bad ones , because that means you are paying attention! So please keep watching I promise I will never disappoint……..thanks to all the fans for your continued support, I love you guys!

Awww! I know she’s miffed but I think this is cute. Keke, it’s rough being a teen but just stay positive. Even those of us who think your dress was a bit short are not, at ALL, haters. One day when you are fully grown and your perspective changes, you’ll see that the opposite is true!

Ugh People kill me..What is wrong with her dress. She’s beautiful young, you dont hear about her partying and drinking. People always have to find something to say negative when they should really be raising their own child. Keep doing you Keke. If you have haters you doing the darn thing. @ KeKe Don’t pay much attention to us, we are no different from the magazines, the TV and the Enquire Magazine. Everybody will not like you and what you where. And when you are a grown woman, you will have to make some choices that everyone will not agree with but you. Keep doing you and staying a role model for little dark skin girls out there and other races, Shine while it’s your time, make your money and thank GOD for your parents. and Thank GOD for the great blessings your have. It’s your life. But we will have somehting to say if we don’t agree with what you are wearing, your hair, We can do that. But don’t listen to everything or take it to heart. We are see things different. And I would disagree that everybody is not a hater if they post a negative comment. I love Akeelah, she’s quite the actress and very well spoken. Unfortunately I disagree with her on this point though. That dress is too short. It’s cute, but short…too short. Just a little longer Keke and you’ve got it! We do love you.

I love Keke! She is intelligent, beautiful, a trendsetter, and VERY TALENTED! She makes me so proud! Keep doing positive things, and your dress was FAB! Let your haters be your motivators. Also, to her parents, KUDOS for raising such a well adjusted, intelligent youg lady.

I still think she looked too grown up. That’s coming from a mother’s perspective BUT if her parents are ok with it then… Everyone will not agree on how I raise my daughter but I have to use my own judgment to raise her how I see fit. Keep doing you Keke just realize everyone won’t always agree with everything you do.
I was one of the ones who wrote that she looked nice but too grown. I still think that she looked to0 grown and I’m not hating on her. I just thought she looked 21 not 15 but that’s just my opinion.
I think she looked beautiful. I see teens in my city that wear alot less as everyday clothing. I saw a girl last month, out at night in a sweatshirt, some booty shorts and uggs…she couldnt have been more than 13 or 14.
Woo some people just like fussing. What of the parents blah blah. If she dressed like Lil Kim then you could say that. Like her wearing that is going to corrupt your children’s mind. I thought it was cute and she pulled it off even though it looked more Grammy worthy than Kids Choice. Eveyone is always in jeans for that thing.

Even my 12 year old said it was too tight it’s what we’re willing to accept in this day and age, not that it’s better because it’s not as bad as lil Kim!! Her (Kim) worse doesn’t make this (Keke) any better. And I know kids who got permission to have sex in jr high so that doesn’t always pull weight either.
But I think the point in her getting older should be noted because there is the tendancy to want to keep them little girls. I still look at Keisha Knight, Raven Brandy etc all the stars that started young I still see their youth so feel her on that but my argument concerning the clothes goes for grown and young alike, so that doesn’t change, celeb everday folk or otherwise.
Doesn’t make a person a hater, one thing to call someone out of their name another to have an opposing opinion and with age comes maturity which should entitle a person to that rather it changes your mind on how you dresses or not.

good that she spoke out. sometimes i think celebrities do go overboard in certain areas. but this young lady looks wonderful, and i have never seen her in the press/on tv where she has not been mannerly and ladylike.

Too short is too short. The dress does not pass the finger tip test. I’m petite like Keke and I know that when I sit down, a dress that short is going to look like a shirt.
And as for her “I will be 16″ comment - ummm who told her that 16 was grown?! It’s not. And as for Vogue’s Look of the day that just totally proved everyone’s point. Vogue is a magazine for adults. If it is something their editors would wear, then it is definitely too grown for Keke. Vanity Fair put a half naked teenager (Miley Cyrus) in their magazine so the approval of these magazines is suspect at best.
Keke said herself that she tries not to make herself look sexy in recent reports, so it was a little bit shocking to see her in a minidress.
Honestly, Keke is a role model and we would hate to see her fall prey to the temptations that have led other Disney stars astray. Concern is not hate!

I’d just like to add a bit. Keke - as I am sure you know, there will always be people with something to say. Some will truly be hating and some think they are looking out for you. Clearly you’ve got people in your life to do that (like your parents. :D) so don’t worry about what other people have to say.
I think you look stunning, but I also think it’s too adult. That being said my opinion and $2 will get you a ride on the Metro in NY.

I hope like Michelle Obama said to the young girls in England, And EDUCATION. A new star is born everyday and these kids are to grown in the world period.
