MALIA AND SASHA OBAMA’S EASTER SURPRISE: A DOG NAMED BO
The First Family attended Easter Sunday service at St. John’s Church across from the White House on Sunday; Malia and Sasha Obama are pictured leaving the church.
In other first daughters news, Malia and Sasha have a new dog named BO. The six-month-old Portuguese water dog is a gift from Senator Ted Kennedy and his wife. See more pictures of Bo and the First Family

Bo is an interesting name for a puppy. Perhaps they chose that name because it is their fathers initials =) Another male in the house!! (Assuming it’s a boy dog)
What a thoughtful gift from Senator Kennedy!
*ModelChic*…I would have never thought of that about their dads initials but perhaps thats it…even though Bo is a common name for a dog…
they annoucned the reason why they named it that on the news today… It’s after there grandpa who passed on their moms side his nickname was Bo
I read that Bo was named after Michelle’s father (nickname) but ModelChic I like your theory better.
Yep, you’re right! The Washington Post says the first daughters chose the name Bo for the puppy because first lady Michelle’s father was nicknamed Diddley. The name for the dog is a reference to the legendary bluesman Bo Diddley, who also passed away.
I wish I could have seen the looks on their faces. They have wanted a dog for so long and what a cutie Bo is!
Cute dog and congrats to the kids.
that’s funny dog named BO thats’ Obama’s initials!! Glad to see them happy!
