KELIS FILES FOR DIVORCE FROM NAS; WANTS JOINT CUSTODY OF UNBORN CHILD
Singer Kelis has reportedly filed for divorce from her husband of nearly six years, rapper Nas. The singer who is seven months pregnant with the couple’s first child wants spousal and child support, as well as joint custody of their unborn child. As told by Vibe.com:
One of hip hop’s most talked about married couples have split. VIBE has confirmed that Nas and Kelis are headed for a divorce. “I can confirm that she has filed for divorce,” a spokesperson for Kelis told VIBE. “We request the media to respect her privacy during this very difficult time.” At around 3:45pm PST, high-powered attorney Laura Wasser (who has also represented Britney Spears, Angelina Jolie, and Stevie Wonder) filed a divorce petition today on behalf of Kelis, citing irreconciable differences. The bombshell comes amid recent reports that the acclaimed rhymer and influential R&B vixen were expecting their first child together—a son. Kelis is currently seven months pregnant.
The couple married Jan. 8, 2005, in Atlanta after a two-year engagement. Kelis is due to have the baby on 7/21/2009. Nas already has a 15-yea-old daughter from a previous relationship.

Dang, I’m so sick of seeing black couples having children and breaking up. I’m not about staying in it for the children, but man it just makes me said to see it!
These people are unbelievable. They couldn’t figure this out before they made a baby?
That goes to show that a baby DOES NOT fix a relationship! I wish them the best because it can and will only get more complicated from here.

That’s jacked how they go this long no kids and now splitting! Don’t know the details but I’m saying.
Well, I was shocked as hell about this, never saw it comin. Well a baby won’t fix a relationship, and it annoys me when people say “im sick of black couple breaking up” , or how upset someone is because black people are never married with kids.
Like marriage is a sham anyway, it’s just there to make us think we are doing something “right”. Image is not everything.
I’m a hhhuuuuggggeeee Nas fan and if I can be honest I really didnt think that this would work and I am really surprised that it lasted this long. I was happy to see him in love and happy but sometimes it doesnt work out no matter what you do. I’m not sure of the details but I have heard a couple of reasons for the split like Kelis being conniving and Nas cheating but who knows the thruth but them and God. Hope it doesnt get ugly.
It’s a shame too. I saw the both of them perform together at SOB’s in Manhattan and they seem tight like no one would ever break them. She said in a article she would be out if something wrong went down in they’re relationship. But thats what happens not all things come to a good end.

Perhaps a baby was the “deal breaker”. To go 8 years (2 of them dating) without a child and then to file for divorce during the preganancy is odd! Perhaps it’s not his child. There are many “perhaps” and “what if’s”. It’s best to end the relationship now then to teach children that dysfunctional relationships are okay. NOT!
I wish them the best and I wish Kelis a healthy pregnancy and delivery. Hopefully hip hops royal couple can patch things up and be ONE happy family in time for II.

Now were are all the people out there that was talking about marriage before children??????????? Here you have a couple that were married for 5yrs then come the child, but still in all things are not what it’s cracked up to be. So now what’s your theory for this one????????????????
