elisetan

Two-year-old Elise Tan is the youngest member to ever be inducted into Mensa, a society for geniuses. With an IQ of 156, Elise Tan is an exceptional child. Mensa normally tests children over ten years old but Elise was made an exception based on a standardized test.

Elise, who was born  in London in December 2006 and has heritage in England, Malaysia, China, Nigeria and Sierra Leone, uttered her first word at just five months and took her first steps at eight-and-a-half months. Today Elise can name 35 capital cities, identify the three types of triangle, spell her name aloud, read the words “Mommy” and “Daddy” and recite the alphabet.

Elise’s mom says she noticed her toddler’s intelligence early on.

“She just says things and you have no idea where she got it from. I don’t set out to teach her loads of stuff, she just enjoys learning and picks things up. She’s always on the go, she never stops.”

Elise’s father adds, “We don’t want to make her have to dumb down and stop learning just to fit in. But she’s still my baby. I just want her to be happy and enjoy herself.”

    WOW!! That’s amazing!
She may grow up to find the cure for HIV/AIDS or cancer.
    Thats inspiring :)

  • Blue says:

I love hearing stories like this. I bet we’ll be hearing alot more about her in the future.

  • Naija Gal says:

    She is so cheeky! :o)
Anyway, continued blessings towards her gift and may it grow in Jesus’s name, amen!!!

  • Blue says:

Now that I look at that little girl again, she looks way older than 2. My guess would have been 4. What’s in the water these days lol?

  • Kiki says:

I should have my daughter tested as well. She is 4 and can read anything, she does fractions, multiplication and knows all U.S. states and their capitals. I don’t know where she gets it from. Some people just have this gift of learning.

  • Suitepuma says:

Wow.. this child is pretty and smart!

What a future ahead of this young child!

  • proud mother says:

Well I should have my twins tested. They are also two and know all their letters - upper and lower - can count to 30 and can spell and sound out three letter words like cat, bat, map, jet. Very cute and intelligent girl!

  • NADINE says:

    thanks for posting this.

  • Kiki says:

Proud Mother, that is how my daughter started out. At 4, she now tests at a 3rd grade level. You twins are smart indeed.

  • Tina says:

That’s really not that spectacular for a two year old. The only reason why people think children of that age can’t do those things is because of age which is stupid. If you teach them they will learn the earlier the better. Some people don’t even teach their children how to read and recite the alphabet until they are 5.

    • msfletch says:

I agree. Most “parents” depend on the teachers to teach their children basic stuff that should be taught at home. My mom said I was reading newspapers at the age of 4 (and to this day I still love to read). To all the mothers on here that are talking about their babies, I commend you for taking time out to teach your children that knowledge. My kids are very smart for their age as well. My kids have been in a preschool since the age of 3.

I agree, my daughters both started walking @ 9 months and and knew their alphabets @ around 18 months. children today are learning to read b4 they can talk, I think that we allow society to set limits on what a child can learn, the human brain is an awesome thing! No, I don’t think it is that extraordinary what she is doing It’s just that she have parents that realized she love to learn and they are making sure she is surrounded my the things that she need to excel. I think if we all did that we would be living in a world of genius children :)

Good luck with that, I just hope that when she is older she don’t feel like learning is a burden or a job.

  • Lisette says:

    That’s a big 2 year old!

  • miamore73 says:

You can’t teach her to talk at 5 months. The girl is smart. I do know that most children can be taught at early ages but talking. Most kids do things like talking and walking when they are ready.

My son started walking at 9 months and was talking extremely clear at 1. I always thought this was because he had an older sister he wanted to keep up with. Also, we never ever baby talk our babies.

    • Leo says:

Ugh, I hate baby talk. It’s not cute to hear supposedly mature people deliberately speaking gibberish to impressionable child.

Then they wonder why the child can’t string a sentence together later on.

  • krazychika says:

wow this is great, she’s so cute

  • SUZ(*Ti Amo*) says:

That is wonderful. She’s going to do something amazing when she’s older. Oh yeah she is beautiful.

  • UCHE says:

    NIGERIA represented…its Naija…
