When asked by BlackVoices.com, “As the father of two biracial boys, what does Barack Obama’s presidency mean to you and your family?”

Seal, father of sons Johan and Henry, was quoted as saying:

It’s an impossible question to answer in shorthand, but while it is great that Barack Obama has been accepted as a mixed-race president, that’s not what’s important. What is important is that he is a fantastic role model for my children and for children (and adults for that matter) around the world-(Blackvoices, April, 23, 2009)

Amen, Seal! Thank you for not relegating Obama to just a race or color. He’s should be an inspiration for all, and that has nothing to do with his being biracial.

Seal is very intelligent and I agree with him. seal is also a good role model himself, good dad and good husband. This family is proof that a blended family works just as well as any other perhaps even better.

I know this is about black and biracial children, but it’s sad that Leni isn’t mentioned in this article as Seal’s daughter. They made it very clear that Seal was her daddy and the whole point of his speech here is that color doesn’t matter and Obama is a role model for everyone out there, not only black people.

Barack Obama is not an inspiration to all

Jesus Christ is an inspiration to all!

Obama has done nothing significantly positive (or negative) yet so lets for him to do something until he is worthy of our praise

wow. interesting (but good) point Suitepuma… I think his status and role may be an aspiration for some but an inspiration to few.

As a black woman, I was glad to see Obama elected president, too. But, most important to me are his actions, and, frankly, I haven’t been too happy so far. I like him, but not his policies. I am willing to give him time, though. But, in terms of role models, some people are acting like blacks haven’t had many positive role models who have attained high status when, in fact, we have many.
