This is a filed photo of Sasha,Malia, and Michelle Obama earlier this month

First Lady Michelle Obama took her daughters Malia,10, and Sasha,8, to see their role model, singer Beyonce, in concert last night(June 24th).  The first family sans the president, along with some friends and White House staff members, sat among thousands of fans who packed the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. to see their favorite R&B singer

The Obamas are no doubt big fans of the Crazy In Love singer.  According to  Beyonce Knowles,  “[Michelle Obama] told me she was very happy that her girls have someone like me to look up to,” Beyonce said  of Sasha and Malia in a Vogue interview in January. “And I’m like, ‘Oh, my God.’ You have to feel fortunate to be one of the people whom parents don’t mind their children looking up to. The older I get, the more I think about the amount of influence I have on these young girls, and it’s scary sometimes. But I also understand how lucky I am to have that.”

President Barack Obama did not accompany the trio to the concert as he was busy talking about
Healthcare to the rest of the World.

I love the Obamas because they make sure their girls are so well-rounded. They are exposed to all kinds of music.

Dang it! I should have went to the concert in D.C. instead of B-more. Maybe I would have caught a glimpse of the Obama girls. I heard on the radio that they got so many screams and cheers that people thought Beyonce was in the audience lol.

Still, some things were not at all appropriate for a child at this concert (I’d rate some of it PG-13). I’m sure they enjoyed seeing their mom and dad on screan during the “At Last” performance though.

    Adore them!

  • Sami says:

Hope they’ll embrace their culture and have good morals….

  • Stephanie says:

I’m surprised. Don’t get me wrong: Beyonce is talented, but I don’t know if I would want my baby girls looking up to her at such a young age. Just my opinion.

  • And Were Off says:

Im pretty sure with Michelle Obama being a very very intelligent woman and mother she doesn’t expect Beyonce to change her show for her precious beautiful daughters. Im sure she realize they aren’t going to be looking at a show performed by Ke Ke Palmer, the Jonas Brothers, Hannah Montana or Raven Symone..Come on. Beyonce is a grown woman who is dang near 30 I would hope she’d sing songs that are pleasing to her adult audience. I get that her audience ranges from 1 to 99 but her creativity is not based upon any certain demographic expect that of an adult male or woman

Who knows, they may not have even stayed the whole show….and whats more could you imagine the pressure on Beyonce to be conscience of the President of US’s wife and children in the audience.

those girls have two wonderful role models at home - their own mother and father. they don’t need to try to “look up to” beyonce for anything!

You’re right, they don’t “need” to. But, I certainly don’t have a problem with my young son looking to other successful black males for inspiration, in addition to his father. It’s okay for kids to look up to other people in addition their parents.

  • jasmine says:

plz get a life n leave beyonce alone they never said they didnt have role models @ home they have role models @ home n more like beyonce..giv her a break plz

  • Aisha says:

Maybe if the girls were a little older. I think they are too young for a Beyonce concert, with her costumes, moves, and lyrics.

  • Nappykat says:

The First Children and the First Lady are BLACK.
    BLACK gotdernit!

I am so proud of that.
That is the coolest thing going on in the world right now.
    Eat your heart out.

  • Nappykat says:

    I love the Obama girls.
    Stay nappy, black, and beautiful.
    I love you.

  • Nappykat says:

Taking in a B concert does not mean they are looking up to her. It means they are taking in entertainment. ENTERTAINMENT. I don’t see Beyonce being these kids role models. They have great role models at home that they look up too and plenty of family. Beyonce is ENTERTAINMENT and entertainment only. So get your drawls out of derriere. I’m sure B don’t mean nothing to these girls but ENTERTAINMENT.

    bye yall.

    stay nappy, black, and beautiful.

  • KEEYSHA.J says:

    THATS SO NICE.

  • Miss Char says:

You are right, it is what the girls see at home or on an everyday basis that will influence their up bringing the most. They are so fortunate to have the role models they have.
