MERCY AND DAVID’S FUN DAY AT TULERIES GARDEN
David,3, and Mercy ,4,the children of singer Madonna, enjoyed an afternoon at The Tuileries Gardens, in Paris France on July 10, 2009. Lourdes and Rocco(not pictured), Madonna’s two other children, were also in attendance.
After spending a few hours at Tuleries Gardens, the duo met up with their mom and boarded an airplane out of Paris.

Mercy is adorable! Her and David seem to taken well to each other, They will probably be really close too
, and her hair is FINE. She’s 3 yrs old, she shouldn’t be worried about hair she is a toddler they get messy, and out of place.I’m sure Madonna is more worried about her adjustment, and health then her hair.

Am from South Africa and i am happy to see celebrities like my Madonna taking interest in what is happening in countries like Malawi by adopting disadvantaged kids.
However not all African countries are in need of rescue i believe here in South Africa we are a very civilized and developed country.
the people of SA are trying their bets to care for their little ones.
So Americans must just travell and be exposed to the other side of Africa that is the side were the majorities have university degree and live in nice mansions and drive nice cars and help out the community.

I agree! I believe we(Americans) are only shown the negative images of Africa. I once got my hair braided by an African lady and she really enlighten me about their culture. It was an eye opening experience.
On a different note……I think Rocco and Lourdes should also be shown on this site(i know they are not black) with their new bro and sis. I would love to see them all together.

These children are beautiful and regardless of what negativity Madonna may endure I think what she is doing for these two children is wonderful. More of us should do the same.

I think Lourdes is with Madonna, just not in some pictures. I’m so ashamed of some of my earlier comments concerning the kids. They are adorable and very lucky kids. Some of seem to think that black kids should be with black parents. A kid should be with anyone that love them, regardless of what the race or gender.

These pictures are so heartwarming. I am truly happy that these children are doing well and are close. I really don’t care about the hair as long as the children are healthy and happy and I think they really are.
BCK picked really great pictures. There was also a picture of Lourdes playing with David on a boat ride that was adorable. I think a picture of all four children together would be nice.

I’m glad that Madonna adopted another child from David’s homeland. I think that will help keep their culture alive. Otherwise, I think it would be tough growing up the only dark skinned child in a white family.

MPHO, that is not a respectful way to speak of your fellow Africans. I hope this is just a language barrier. Otherwise it sounds like you are just as brainwashed about the continent as westerners are. There are mansions, university degrees, and nice cars in all African countries, not just South Africa. And yes even people in Malawi are trying to care for their little ones and help their community.
I personally feel that Madonna could do a lot more for Malawi’s orphans by actually putting money into “Raising Malawi”, her charitable organization there, or building schools there, or adopting 20 kids like Oprah did in South Africa, but letting them stay in their country and subsidize their education and well-being. Cherry-picking cute kids and getting photographed with them all over the world in tricked out designer duds does not not a saint make in my book…and let’s not talk about all the manuevering around the law in order to adopt the kids.

Madonna is already building schools and orphanages though her organization. She also sponsors many orphans. Her organization provides scholarships so older children can pursue medical and legal degrees. It’s great if children can remain in their country if they do have a support system, but is also great to have a family instead of living in an orphanage. As bright and wonderful as an orphanage can be made, it’s still an orphanage where hundreds of children will reside with a few adults to care for them. I don’t necessarily think she should be expected to donate and not consider bringing one of those children into her home. I fully support inter-country adoption, but I do think effort should be put into preventing the orphan situation rather than trying to remedy it after it gets to overwhelming numbers, as it has in Malawi which is the second poorest country in the world.
Laws are there to serve a purpose. In this case, to address the needs of and protect the children of Malawi from possible predators, but the laws are not serving that purpose. Instead they are preventing children from getting adopted in the first place and not really doing anything to examine the prospective parent. There were once laws in the US preventing women from voting, or people of different races from marrying, once they no longer addressed the needs of the population, they were changed. The same should be done with the adoption residency laws in Malawi.
She’s an extremely famous woman and the press will always follow her and her children, adopted or not, they’ve done so for decades so I don’t see how that will change.

The law in question which was skirted for Madonna in both instances is a law that states that foreigners who want to adopt must live in the country for 18 months. On both occasions this law was waived. Why? because of her fame and fortune and her new kabbalah center in the country.
Furthermore as a recent divorcee who just moved her family across the world and adopted a child just two years ago, she is not necessarily the best candidate for adoption here in the U.S. I know the rules here and when families are in such a state of flux, they are not deemed “ready” for adoption The only reason she was able to adopt was due to her fame and fortune. Same goes for Angelina Jolie who adopted Maddox in a roundabout way when Cambodia had ended foreign adoptions to the U.S. I have nothing against inter-country or inter-racial adoptions, just would prefer that everyone play by the same rules.
Another issue is that African children are the current flavor of the month. And there is this “she/he would have died without me” mentality that goes along with it. As an African, I am offended by this. Some years back it was Chinese girls. Who will be next? Furthermore I am troubled by the fact that menbers of Mercy’s biological family were against the adoption.
Truth is we will never know what the real story is. All we can do is watch their lives unfold, hopefully for the best. And wait for the tell-all “My Life with______” that will surely come.

I’m from Malawi and I have to say that I am personally happy for Mercy and David. Madonna’s doing a great thing because you cannot imagine what their lives would be like had she not adopted them. The two of them look so happy together. The fact that she’s doing a lot for under-privileged kids there with her charity work is fantastic and is important in keeping Mercy and David in touch with their roots back home. They need to have an appreciation and awareness of where they come from so that in future they continue their mother’s work by helping their fellow Malawians.

Those kids are so well loved and you can tell. If she is traveling around the world on tour right now I can imagine that it is difficult to find someone to braid Mercy’s hair. Not every where you go do people know how to do African hair and do you really want all of those people in her hair anyways. It is funny how people can get side tracked by the little things. Let support Madonna in her charity work and see this as an amazing opportunity for two children that can potentially bring so much back to their home country with the education and experience that they will recieve.
