Singer Kelis is pictured just a few days ago(July 18th) before giving birth to her baby boy Knight Jones on July 22nd.
Meanwhile, a judge has ordered Kelis’ estranged husband, rapper Nas, to pay the singer $55,000/month in combined spousal and child support. In addition, Nas must pay the mortgage on the couple’s L.A residence, Kelis’ lawyer’s fees of $35,000, as well as various expenses related to their newborn.
Based off this picture alone, I truly believe that child needed some money!!

I hate that on here women love to judge other women, so what Nas didnt do nothing in the relationship??? If they were still together, he would of been paying more than that and would of had no problem!!! Get off her back! Obviously he had enough finances for the judge to order that payment each month PLUS she is married to the man! Its not like she is some groupie!!! the point should still be what is reasonable for her and the child. he should support his child at a reasonable (read: not luxurious!) level till that child reaches adulthood, but kelis is an adult and she should be shaping her own life. she wasn’t raised in a time when a woman’s only choice was being a homemaker, solely dependent on a ma. and their marriage didn’t last so long that she should believe she can sit back, do nothing and live off his money.
they are no longer together, so she needs to move on with her life, and take responsibility for it.
while the baby is very young she should have enough to live in a ‘moderate’ lifestyle (i.e. kiss ‘louis’ goodbye!) and care full-time for her child. but by the time school time rolls around for little knight, she should have ‘plan b’ up and running.

When Shaunie was asking for major paper from Shaq, no one was batting an eyelid, kim porter, Misa hylton brim and Kimora???? Whats really the difference??? Russel, two by Kimora, Diddy has two by Kim Porter and Kelis only have one… 55000 for one child is insane unless that includes alimony also. I doubt Nas makes as much money as Shaq, Russel Simmons, or Diddy.

kelis IS his wife. i think she should get limited alimony based on a - realistic - average of his income during that period and the actual length of their marriage. period.

Exactly!!! Realistic to them!!! Nas is NOT your baby’s daddy and earns more than most, so the judge would not give him more than he can handle!!
Unless, you know their finances or you are part of their legal team I dont see how this situation would effect you. Its not like its coming out of your pockets. Nas knows the deal and so does Kelis. He even went on tape to say the same thing! All anyone should care about is if the baby is being fed and clothed which I’m sure he will be.

i think that rules for child support are outragous, take from a women who was married and because i made more money than then him i was order to pay 12,000 a month to the man, did i receive any child support no and we have three children

because their marriage will be OVER. partners share in the wealth when they are together. once the marriage is over, you evaluate and split the assets gained during that time. after that it’s HIS money.
his obligation will be primarily to his child, not to her.

Kelis is almost up there in the league of a Beyonce. She’s only 29 years old (30 next month) and she has accomplished quite a lot in less than a decade.
If you go to wiki or other search engines, you’ll learn she’s been nominated for Grammys, sold millions of records, etc.
She’s entering the next phase of her life which is being a Mommy and her estranged hubby should want the best for his child whether he is still with his wife or not.
Nas and Kelis just doing it the all American way when you have $$$. She has a good attorney negotiating with his attorney , obviously, and she was smart enough to even charge her accrued legal expenses to Knight’s Dad.
Kelis seems to understand the old addage… living well is the best revenge! Nas will be paying for her gym regimen, spas and any other beauty tx she may need to radiate as a beautiful new mommy and pop star.

Well anyone who has ever been pregnant knows that in the last few weeks pregnant you really don’t have everything together. What’s better than that is that you don’t care what anyone else thinks or feels about how you look. Kelis is definitely making a statement.
First off nobody is judging at all… I am a single mother of 2 boys in the Air Force i did not take my HUSBAND for child support and if he did then they would be raping his pockets. if my kids could survive with none 55,000 for one child is too much like seriously. she need to record a album or something because they was all good until she gets pregnant and then she divorces him? and she was dead wrong for not lettin Nas in that room to see the birth of his first son. Good for her! Unfortunately, mortgages and car notes don’t disappear just because you file for divorce. She had the same bills that she had while she was married, and her spouse should have been supporting her. Instead of showing up drunk to the hospital, he should have been taking care of her prental and delivery fees.
