Do you think it’s too early in the stage for Kelis to be out with her newborn?

He’s nine days already? Wasn’t the birth yesterday? I beg ya’ll not to nail Kelis to the Cross for what looks like a very expensive diaper bag lmao off @ BCK calling it “unique”

  • Caratime2 says:

aha, so this is what the $44,000/month are for?!?!?

    • Anonymous says:

The diaper bag could have been a gift from one of her friends or family members given to her at a baby shower. We don’t know. She looks pretty down to Earth and happy! a baby shower

  • Kiki says:

I Guyana (not Ghana) where I come from 9 days is when you allow your child to be seen in public and ppl can actually come to visit there is also a huge celebration on that day for the child’s birth

  • KEEYSHA.J says:

NICE PICS IT WAS SO NICE OUT SO I DONT BLAME HER PLUS SHE WENT TO A GRACE JONES SHOW LASTNIGHT ACCORDING TO HER TWITT.
AS FOR KNIGHT HE LOOKS LIGHT LIKE BOTH PARENTS SO HE LOOKS A LIL CUTE FROM THE LIL GLIMPSE OF HIM ANYWAY CANT FULLY WAIT TO SEE HIM I KNOW HES GOING TO BE CUTE AND SOMETHIN ELSE LOL.

  • wow...publicity 101! says:

Kelis is whack and she is seeking attention! I hope she enjoys the 55k and 24 hr nanny…because it will not last forever! Kelis is suck an attention seeker…no one would pay her any mind if she was not married to Nas or had his son! No respect for this woman!

  • hanaboo says:

aww she looks good, and no, its not to early i was out in town shopping when my daughter was 4/5 days old, as long as you feel good, the baby sleeps through evrything at that age anyway an most shops have places where u can feed babys now anyway

  • melmel says:

Kelis didnt waste anytime getting out and about!

  • Lisa says:

It should be okay for her to be out and about with her baby. Babies are immune to some diseases prior to their immunizations because they have antibodies given to them from their mothers. However, I would be cautious of exposing him to large crowds of people to prevent him from getting some community acquired disease such as flu/cold/pneumonia prior to him building up his own immune system.

  • KEEYSHA.J says:

AND YEAH ITS EARLY BUT PEOPLE DO THAT NOWADAYS WELL THE PEOPLE I KNOW DO.

  • Jas says:

I remember a former co-worker of mine bringing her new born baby to work after a week of having her. It was a her second baby so I guess she wasn’t all fanatic and germ cautious as she probably was with her first child. I believe Kelis knows whats best for her child and I can’t imagine her wanting to sit in the house or any other house for the propose six weeks.

  • DJM says:

YOU PEOPLE ARE IDIOT’S A NEWBORN NEEDS TO BE SEEN AT 2-3 AFTER BIRTH ANYWAY, AND I DO NOT KNOW OF ANY DOC’S THAT STILL DO HOUSE CALLS. EVEN IF SHE WAS SHOPPPING OR JUST GETTING SOME AIR WHO ARE YOU TO JUDGE?

  • Alicia says:

Awwwww She looks so happy! Since its summer, i think she and the baby should be ok as long as people dont get too close. Some people are just not homebodies and cant sit still and she seems like the type. Im wishing her all the best

  • Leisalle says:

hey kiki glad to see a fellow guyanese out there. maybe im just old school but i do think 9 days is early to have him out. i wont feel comfortable with my newborn baby out in the public eyes. i would think maybe more of 4wks/ month before i have him out. thats just me.

  • memasniece says:

cant wait to see a good pic of him, i know he’s a cutie…

  • InnocentCorruption203 says:

Can’t wait for the upclose picture of the baby and I’m glad they are both healthy and happy.

  • Big Blue says:

She needs more time to heal if she was really in labor for three days. The average woman is not out nine days after giving birth if she had a difficult labor.

  • DivaStar says:

I don’t see anything wrong with it, woman are not required to stay in the house anymore after giving birth, the day I left the hospital with my baby, we were in the grocery store shopping.

  • yo says:

This pic is actually, like, 3 days after the birth.

  • Kiki says:

“He’s looks light like both parents so he looks a lil cute?” I have never read something so ignorant!

  • Alyssa says:

Well, Kelis looks happier than she has in weeks…. Wonder why they started custody/child support battles before the child was born. Stressing her. Didn’t she look stressed up til she gave birth? Now she looks so happy-go-lucky! I guess that’s the miracle of having children.

  • Joy says:

What happened to stayin in the house for 6weeks?

  • onnum2 says:

No I dont think so. Babies leave out the hospital in a day of two, and they have to go to the doctor. So they are going to be exposed to the air anyway. I think fresh air is good, as long as u dont over do it. Kelis looks good and it looks like that big ol belly is gone already. keep doing what u do kelis. Your blue hair is fine with me also. If thats what floats your boat.

  • AuntyVi says:

I know its a new day and age and the young people today are doing things differenlty, but i am old school to my heart.I was raised in the South and women would not be out and about until six weeks after birth. I believe it is proper to give yourself an appropriate time to heal and get rested, as well as not expose your little one so readily to outside elements that he or she may not yet be strong enough to fight off.

    • Joy says:

That is what my mamma said to my sister. THe ladies at my church.
So that is what I know too, even tho I don’t have any kids.

    • Teri says:

AuntyVi, were right here >>><<<. I’m old school as well. After having a baby, you are still open and need to heal. Why would anyone want to be ripping and running the streets right after giving birth? There will be plenty of time for that. The baby doesn’t go to the doctor until 6 weeks. One needs time to bond with their baby. To each her own. No harm, no foul. It’s up to the individual woman and what she feels is right for her and her baby.

    • ce says:

I am not old school but a mother of two. I had two c-section and it took me 6 weeks to heal. If her body is ready to run the streets more power too her as long as the baby is cover-up and she do not let everbody and their momma breath all over the baby he should be fine. She still can have a set back and be right back in the hospital.

      • Anonymous says:

I agree. What about women in Third World countries, such as on the continent of Asia, where women literally give birth while working in rice paddies? They drop the baby, wrap it up in a cloth, sling it on their backs and keep working.

Probably , even in poorer, rural states in the U.S. women don’t all have the luxury of sitting around bonding with their newborns as they would like.

With as much money that Kelis just got awarded for spousal support and her baby, she does not have to get out to work for survival.

But exercising could only be healthy for her. She is an entertainer and just like women like Angelina Jolie after having a baby, she has to get back into shape.

Plus, she’s single again (separated) and needs to keep herself marketable for more than one reason.

    • Ms'girl says:

I come from a old school family too. They dont play that!!You dont come out until 6 weeks.I had a past because my daughter was in NICU for 11 weeks.I had a c-section and I had her @ 27 weeks. Rest heal bond with your baby and family.

  • BROOKS says:

I do believe its too early for the little guy to be out especially with such an immature immune system, Im a NICU/Pediatric RN and you’d be surprised how many newborns we admit with STAPH infections.
Mother’s antibodies cant protect them from that!

  • missjohnson says:

um isn’t it kind of early kelis?? i’m sorry but i believe 6 weeks after giving birth is when mothers should be out but hey it’s her body and baby congrats…

  • luvvieboo says:

I wish peeps would get out of that time warp. Baby can come out as soon as mommy comes out. The dayum baby is 9 days old, jeez. I agree that Kelis does looks refreshed and happy with her little man. Can’t wait to see booboo, know he is just to handsome. 2009, not 1928, talkin bout to early to bring a baby out, lawdy, gimme a break.

    • Teri says:

No one said the woman committed a crime. Some people think it’s too early - some don’t. To each her own. Each parent has to make that decision. It ain’t my kid so whatever. It has nothing to do with what year it is. Sheesh, some people.

@Brooks, I believe it. Thanks for educating.

  • DEE says:

I would not bring mine out only because of babies being more susceptible to swine flu and other viruses that are out. If it was for a Dr. appointment ok, but just to be walking the dirty streets on NYC no way no how.

PS, Kelis why u had to go and get the same stroller I have, copy cat…

  • JaysSweetShugah says:

55k!!! Lucky sumthing. Geez sum people don’t get that much in a yr.

  • Sabrina says:

6 weeks closed up at home? That’s insanely ridiculous. For us single parents who don’t have the luxury of hiring somebody to run errands, we do what we have to do. I had a Well Baby appointment the very next day and wasn’t supposed to be driving with a c-section, but how the heck else was I supposed to get to the appointment?

In Kelis’ case, she doesn’t technically have an excuse since she has a full time nurse/nanny but she may have “cabin fever” or just feels lonely. I know that as a single parent being home with a newborn myself 24 hours a day can wear on one a bit, especially when post partum hits… Let her have her day out.

If it becomes a habit, then maybe it needs to be as big of an issue as everyone is making it.

At least she not posing with the baby or letting people touch him.

  • romie says:

Why the hell would I wanna spend six weeks locked up in a house? As long as the mother feels fine and the baby is fine I say come on out, breathe in some fresh air.

  • Natahlee says:

awww look at kelis and her new paycheck…opps i mean son lol cant wait to see him close up

  • Zogie says:

Lol! To the old school folks.. My respects to you…. Now I don’t ever Remember hearing you gotta stay inside for 6wks… that had to be prior to the 80’s. They used to say the baby had to stay inside that long. But….. now the hospital doesn’t even wanna keep you longer then 1 day. Sun = Vitamin D. Can we all be in agreement that Vitamins are essential to both mother and child?… ( shaking my head.. Up and down… y-e-s we can.)
    Now the bag… its ugly..
The Hair… Its FINISHED! I don’t like it, Kelis is ever changing.. She will do something else in her own time.. To the people who say she wants attention… first.. Did she send us pics of her? Does she have to stay in the house when there has been rain here in N.Y.C like a rainforest? Nooooo…

  • shesh1nes says:

    - i think its too soon. At least too soon to be all out and shopping. Six weeks sounds waaaaaaayyyyy to long though

-also i think all that money she’s getting out of Nas is outrageous as far as child support goes. She’s a pop star too. She acting like she can’t provide for him at all. Maybe buy things that are still cute but cost as much as the average parent would spend. These people get famous and then act like the can’t shop like the average human being anymore. ‘I’m “accustom” to spending $80000 a month so I should get a ridiculous amount of child support to sustain it.” Is it me? Maybe I’M buggin

  • Jesica says:

That’s the new poppy sequin coach bag….it’s 600
