Do you think it’s too early in the stage for Kelis to be out with her newborn?

The diaper bag could have been a gift from one of her friends or family members given to her at a baby shower. We don’t know. She looks pretty down to Earth and happy! a baby shower

It should be okay for her to be out and about with her baby. Babies are immune to some diseases prior to their immunizations because they have antibodies given to them from their mothers. However, I would be cautious of exposing him to large crowds of people to prevent him from getting some community acquired disease such as flu/cold/pneumonia prior to him building up his own immune system.

I remember a former co-worker of mine bringing her new born baby to work after a week of having her. It was a her second baby so I guess she wasn’t all fanatic and germ cautious as she probably was with her first child. I believe Kelis knows whats best for her child and I can’t imagine her wanting to sit in the house or any other house for the propose six weeks.

YOU PEOPLE ARE IDIOT’S A NEWBORN NEEDS TO BE SEEN AT 2-3 AFTER BIRTH ANYWAY, AND I DO NOT KNOW OF ANY DOC’S THAT STILL DO HOUSE CALLS. EVEN IF SHE WAS SHOPPPING OR JUST GETTING SOME AIR WHO ARE YOU TO JUDGE?

Awwwww She looks so happy! Since its summer, i think she and the baby should be ok as long as people dont get too close. Some people are just not homebodies and cant sit still and she seems like the type. Im wishing her all the best

She needs more time to heal if she was really in labor for three days. The average woman is not out nine days after giving birth if she had a difficult labor.

I don’t see anything wrong with it, woman are not required to stay in the house anymore after giving birth, the day I left the hospital with my baby, we were in the grocery store shopping.

Well, Kelis looks happier than she has in weeks…. Wonder why they started custody/child support battles before the child was born. Stressing her. Didn’t she look stressed up til she gave birth? Now she looks so happy-go-lucky! I guess that’s the miracle of having children.

I feel you I thought you were susposed to stay home until 6 weeks. That way your baby has his shots. I am due any day now and I don’t plan on going any where for 6 weeks.

No I dont think so. Babies leave out the hospital in a day of two, and they have to go to the doctor. So they are going to be exposed to the air anyway. I think fresh air is good, as long as u dont over do it. Kelis looks good and it looks like that big ol belly is gone already. keep doing what u do kelis. Your blue hair is fine with me also. If thats what floats your boat.

I know its a new day and age and the young people today are doing things differenlty, but i am old school to my heart.I was raised in the South and women would not be out and about until six weeks after birth. I believe it is proper to give yourself an appropriate time to heal and get rested, as well as not expose your little one so readily to outside elements that he or she may not yet be strong enough to fight off.

AuntyVi, were right here >>><<<. I’m old school as well. After having a baby, you are still open and need to heal. Why would anyone want to be ripping and running the streets right after giving birth? There will be plenty of time for that. The baby doesn’t go to the doctor until 6 weeks. One needs time to bond with their baby. To each her own. No harm, no foul. It’s up to the individual woman and what she feels is right for her and her baby.

I am not old school but a mother of two. I had two c-section and it took me 6 weeks to heal. If her body is ready to run the streets more power too her as long as the baby is cover-up and she do not let everbody and their momma breath all over the baby he should be fine. She still can have a set back and be right back in the hospital.

I agree. What about women in Third World countries, such as on the continent of Asia, where women literally give birth while working in rice paddies? They drop the baby, wrap it up in a cloth, sling it on their backs and keep working.

Probably , even in poorer, rural states in the U.S. women don’t all have the luxury of sitting around bonding with their newborns as they would like.

With as much money that Kelis just got awarded for spousal support and her baby, she does not have to get out to work for survival.

But exercising could only be healthy for her. She is an entertainer and just like women like Angelina Jolie after having a baby, she has to get back into shape.

Plus, she’s single again (separated) and needs to keep herself marketable for more than one reason.

I come from a old school family too. They dont play that!!You dont come out until 6 weeks.I had a past because my daughter was in NICU for 11 weeks.I had a c-section and I had her @ 27 weeks. Rest heal bond with your baby and family.

I do believe its too early for the little guy to be out especially with such an immature immune system, Im a NICU/Pediatric RN and you’d be surprised how many newborns we admit with STAPH infections.
Mother’s antibodies cant protect them from that!

I wish peeps would get out of that time warp. Baby can come out as soon as mommy comes out. The dayum baby is 9 days old, jeez. I agree that Kelis does looks refreshed and happy with her little man. Can’t wait to see booboo, know he is just to handsome. 2009, not 1928, talkin bout to early to bring a baby out, lawdy, gimme a break.

No one said the woman committed a crime. Some people think it’s too early – some don’t. To each her own. Each parent has to make that decision. It ain’t my kid so whatever. It has nothing to do with what year it is. Sheesh, some people.

@Brooks, I believe it. Thanks for educating.

I would not bring mine out only because of babies being more susceptible to swine flu and other viruses that are out. If it was for a Dr. appointment ok, but just to be walking the dirty streets on NYC no way no how.

PS, Kelis why u had to go and get the same stroller I have, copy cat…

6 weeks closed up at home? That’s insanely ridiculous. For us single parents who don’t have the luxury of hiring somebody to run errands, we do what we have to do. I had a Well Baby appointment the very next day and wasn’t supposed to be driving with a c-section, but how the heck else was I supposed to get to the appointment?

In Kelis’ case, she doesn’t technically have an excuse since she has a full time nurse/nanny but she may have “cabin fever” or just feels lonely. I know that as a single parent being home with a newborn myself 24 hours a day can wear on one a bit, especially when post partum hits… Let her have her day out.

If it becomes a habit, then maybe it needs to be as big of an issue as everyone is making it.

At least she not posing with the baby or letting people touch him.

Why the hell would I wanna spend six weeks locked up in a house? As long as the mother feels fine and the baby is fine I say come on out, breathe in some fresh air.

    - i think its too soon. At least too soon to be all out and shopping. Six weeks sounds waaaaaaayyyyy to long though

-also i think all that money she’s getting out of Nas is outrageous as far as child support goes. She’s a pop star too. She acting like she can’t provide for him at all. Maybe buy things that are still cute but cost as much as the average parent would spend. These people get famous and then act like the can’t shop like the average human being anymore. ‘I’m “accustom” to spending $80000 a month so I should get a ridiculous amount of child support to sustain it.” Is it me? Maybe I’M buggin

COULD SOMEONE CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG. I THOUGHT THE OLD WAY WAS THE BEST WAY. A MOTHER IS SUPPOSED TO KEEP HER CHILD IN FOR 6 WEEKS, NOT ALLOWED TO HAVE SEX FOR 6 WEEKS, AND MANY OTHER THINGS A NEW MOM IS NOT SUPPOSED TO DO FOR 6 WEEKS. I THINK PEOPLE SHOULD STICK TO THE OLD SCHOOL WAY OF CARING FOR THEMSELVES BEFORE AND AFTER THEY HAVE A BABY. CHEERIOS. LUV YA.
