10-year-old Reginae Carter, the daughter of rapper Lil Wayne and reality star Antonia “Toya Carter, recently sat down with Sister2Sister magazine to talk about her famous father among topics of school and music. Want to know how life is for this daddy’s little girl? Read on…
On having fun with dad
Reginae says that Lil Wayne is a “very good dad” whom she sees in the summer every other week and whenever she is on break from school. Reginae admits to having a lot of “fun” whenever she is on the road with her dad. Out of all the places that she and her dad have traveled to, she likes Minnesota the best because “it has the biggest mall”. Though her dad “spoils” her with gifts-one of Reginae’s favorite gifts is a necklace from Amsterdam-, Reginae admits that time spent with her dad isn’t all fun. There is always that mundane task of doing math homework! Luckily for Reginae, Lil Wayne helps her with her math projects.
“He’ll help me with my projects. And either he helps me when I call him on the phone, or it’s my tutor.”
So has Lil Wayne ever had to discipline his daughter?
“No. He just tells me for right and wrong. He don’t holler at me or nothing; he just tells me for right and wrong.”

On Music:
Music clearly runs in this young star’s blood, but Reginae Carter is not at all sure that she would like to work in the music industry when she “grows up”.
“I want to be a lot of things. I want to be a singer, a pediatrician–’cause I like to work with babies.”
At the moment, Reginae is a part of a singing group called the OMG girls, of which she is a rapper.
On treating Kids with respect:
Reginae admits that some kids treat her differently because Lil Wayne is her dad. So how does this young celebrity’s kid know how to pick out her real friends from the fake ones?
“It’s when they don’t–like, when I first come [and] they find out that my daddy is who he is, and now they want to be my friend.”
As for kids who want to be friends with her because of her dad, Reginae says that she treats them ” real good, ’cause if they treat me with respect then I will treat them with respect.”

Where I her mother, pushing her to be a part of Tiny’s singing group would only come if she was excelling in educational things. Because Tiny certainly would not be my choice to lead my child anywhere. Her parents have the finances to get her into places that the average child can’t and I would certainly like to see her mother pushing her in that direction. Singing groups are fine if you are looking for a way out and up, but her father, though not my choice in music, has done that one thing for her. I like that she selected a field of medicine and would like to see her making ready for that career instead of singing in a group. Best of luck to her.

well seeming how this went from talking about her to talking about her father. now what I can say is this from personal experience my father slept with alot of women and that didn’t make me love him any less. I still to this day don’t judge my father. Because even though he cheated on my mother and had a baby with this woman he taught me what type of man not to fall for. Have our expectations dropped so low that we feel it necessary to compliment a father for things that he is supposed to do. But Natalie the things you’re saying should be overlooked is part of the problem. Yes he came from a bad upbringing but the choices he’s making is directly linked to that, yet we’re suppose to cut him slack/applaud him for continuing the cycle with not just his daughter but all of his kids? Bettering yourself isn’t just doing as others mentioned here already, what you’re suppose to do in spite of coming up in bad situations. It’s not doing that which made your situation so bad in the 1st place. A hard life may make certain things more difficult but doesn’t make a person exempt from learning, growing and doing the right thing in their own life. If not we’d have to excuse every murderer, rapist, molester etc. who link what they do with things they’d experienced in their life no we expect reform from them so why not these cases too? We can empathize with people more that’s been through difficult situations and the things that they do because of it but we still stand on the side of right and at the end of the day who we are is based on our own actions and choices not the things done to us, being only what’s in us, that is what’s in our own nature came come out of us.

It’s clear that Wayne is not a good example for his daughter, i.e. having different babies by different women, and like Khrish said - allowing his daughter to be on stage while he and others sung that deplorable song about f’ing every girl in the world. What kind of message is that for a young girl to hear. Trust and believe she hears his songs all the time. Are those lyrics you’d want your son or daughter to hear? That’s why some people here are questioning his parenting skills. No, we don’t know Weezy personally, but people do make assessments based on what they see, and it ain’t looking good. If you didn’t make assessments or in your word, judgments, you wouldn’t be able to live life.

I think the grammar may be more of a geographical, dialect type issue more than anything. That’s that deep Louisiana coming out…I understood what she was saying but then again I spent a lot of time in Charleston where the language/dialect/pronunciation would have you thinking you’re in another country.

Believe it or not..when I went to New Orleans for the Essence Music festival I heard people “for” in places it did not belong all the time. Not to mention her mother does it as well..for instance when she denied saying Lil Wayne may not be the father of Lauren London’s baby…she wrote “I never said Lauren London baby wasn’t for Wayne”…I remember thinking…what school did she learn that at. Maybe it’s a culture thing I am not sure. I grew up in Michigan and we do not talk like that.

I have learned from being around individuals in the industry that everything is not always as it seems. Yes LiL Wayne has some issues with using condoms but that’s his business. Now as far as his lyrical content, that doesn’t neccessarily depict the type of man he is and it definetly doesn’t portray what type of father he is to his children. His records sell and that is the whole point. Yeah there are definetly better things he could be talking about but that is whats working for him. I have saw artist who portray themselves as hard gansta thug type rappers and in reality they are soft as butter. They have never really experience half of what they talk about. Not saying this is the case with Wayne I just saying you can judge his relationship with his child by his music and the public mistakes he has made. All I’m saying is that you have control of one person in this world and if you were all that great a person you wouldn t take the time out of your day to tear down a complete stranger.
I don’t think we had to tear down LiL Wayne, he’s done a real good job of that on his own. How do you know that parents who you consider judgemental are the worst parents? Do you really know these parents. Your mother instilled certain values in you during your formative years and you chose to follow them. Lest you forget, this is a site for posting and those of us who come here choose to engage in conversation. You are on the site, does that mean that you couldn’t find something better to do with your time. You can’t scold people for being judgemental by being judgemental.

Umm yes silly person I had some free time time so I came to this site to pass it. If I didn’t know these judgemental parents I wouldn’t have made the comment.And yes we all have a right to express our opinions no matter how illogic, uniformed, biased, or just plain ignit that opinion may be.
