FIRST FAMILY ARRIVE AT MARTHA’S VINEYARD

President Barack Obama, first lady Michelle Obama and their daughters Malia,11, and Sasha,8, arrived on Martha’s Vineyard on August 23, 2009 for their week-long family vacation.
The first family will spend this week on a 28 acre farm land called “The Blue Heron” near the town of Chilmark, once claimed to be one of the most expensive towns in America. It reportedly costs $35,000 to $50,000 a week to rent any property near the Blue Heron.
Bo, the First Dog, is also along for the vacation.

I vacationed on Martha’s Vineyard and he’s not a big place, so I hope the Obamas will have some privacy and get some much needed rest and relaxtion.
A weeks rental vacation that costs more than most people make a year. Yeah he’s for change alright, and vacation already? You became the president at the beginning of the year and taking a vacation already?
This entire family deserves a vacation. President Obama is available to his country and staff 24/7..and his wife and children have been uprooted away from everyone and everything that they know!
You know I get real sick of all the bellyachers about this President. The idea that we have a president who constantly have to tell Americans what it cost and that he is paying for it makes my stomach turn. The past presidents have done anything they wanted to and gone where ever they wanted to go and the American people never knew who went with him. But his president has to give an account of everyone who travels with him and what it cost and that he is paying for it out of his own pocket and the still moan and groan. You should have moaned and groaned when Bush added money to you tax base that your grandchildren will have to pay for to tell you a lie and go invade and occupy a country for the last 8 years. Where were your moans and groans then. If he never went on a holiday, there would be people in this country who don’t make that much. Is that President Obama’s fault. He’s trying to help us now with Healthcare and these same idiots who don’t read and listen to other idiots are working like crazy, why? Because they want the insurance companies to take their money. They want people who have no insurance to remain that way. Many Americans a just so stupid. You worry about where he goes and what he pays when you should spend time worrying about what is going to happen to you and yours if you don’t educate yourself about policies and the needs of the average American and stop listening to blow hards that make all the money because you listen to them and help them keep making it and leave you poor as a church mouse so that you will continue to make less than the President paid to rent his house at Martha’s vineyard. Envy is certainly one of the seven most deadly sins.

I’m glad they are on vacation and it’s nice to see a First family that loves each other. I get tired of people always criticizing the man for what he does. He is an AWESOME president…enough said…to all the haters…we say thank you because you are just motivators that keep him moving.

George W Bush took a vacation for 8 years!!! he deserves the vaction because he is busy cleaning the mess that BUSH made if you dont like the CHANGE he is making and working towards seeing as he just became PRESIDENT then go live in another country… see how you like thier policies!!!!

He’s been elected president starting 2009, but he has be running since 2007 and 2008… People quick to judge, YES! that man needs a vaK. If anybody knows politics…its a process to become ONLY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES… And you never know “even common folks” take their kids on VaK before school starts…GO OBAMA!!! I’m pretty sure that the Obamas aren’t vacationing anymore than Bush and his family did while the Bush family was in the White House.
While young people were being killed in Iraq under Bush’s directives, he was filmed playing golf at Kennebunkport or where ever.
Yeah, it’s a change. Why not allow a Black family to enjoy the fruits of the office of the President just as each and every one of his White predecessors have?
Why should we resent the Obamas? Just because they’re Black and having a good time? Is he supposed to have his nose to the grindstone 24/7? Isn’t slavery over? He’s working the Presidency no more or no less than the White men before him.
Bush took 2 sdministrations to get the country in the mess we’re in and we should at least give Obama more than 7 months in office to get us straight(er).
Sometimes when people look at the Obamas, I think they’re looking through glasses colored with jealousy and envy.

Amen! All the senators have been gone all of the month of August and I don’t see them talking about that. If “ole McClain had kept the pace of Obama since he started running for President and then took over the office, ole stupid Sarah Palin would be President now and we would have been trying to decipher her “word Salad” known as speeches, to find out what the hell is going on in the country. If President Obama gave every American 1 million dollars to restart their lives, the same people would still be moaning and groaning about one thing or the other. Go Play!
I pray that they enjoy themselves and get the much needed relaxation. I am glad that they know how to relax even with so much work to do. Everyone needs that, regardless of economic status. His income allows him to rent a week for $35,000-$50,000 a week, so be it… We can’t hate because ours doesn’t. He doesn’t have to down play his vacations, to please anyone.
@Khrish and all the fellow negative people on here…you say he makes it a point to say how much he pays for things and where he stays?? That’s where you are wrong…the MEDIA chooses to focus on that stuff! You have not once heard Obama on any interview say how much it costs to stay at Martha’s Vineyard. Just how the MEDIA chooses to make a big deal about Michelle Obama wearing shorts on VACATION with her kids??? WTF…what else is she supposed to wear?? A ball gown to her ankles and sparkling sandals? when you are a hands on parent you have to dress accordingly, furthermore it’s freakin 100 degrees outside I don’t care who I am I will have on shorts as well. I’m getting tired of people criticizing the smallest things when it comes to this family! And yes, he got in office in January and is taking a vacation already…YES he has been working since day one and even before he got in office. I blogged, rallied, sent money, knocked on doors, kept others politically informed and received an invitation to the Inauguration for President Obama. What did you do to get him elected? For all the Obama vaK haters out there, Bush spent 879 days (30% of his presidency!) on vaK. In August 2001, Bush took the ENTIRE month off. People are just going to be harder on Barack because he’s black, hate to say. We never cared about president’s vacations when wrinkly old white men were running our country, b/c that’s what we accepted to be the norm. People still have this idea that only whites are entitled to privilege; they “summer”. It’s why they badger Barack for every decision and why they tear Michelle apart for wearing shorts(wtf). They don’t match our perceptions of affluence,… yet.

As I recall, since I DID READ and respond, It was the poster WHATEVER, and the only poster on this site that had negative things to say about the President and his family. You need to understand everything that you read, as well as from whom you read it before you start to accuse ALL OBAMA HATERS ON THIS SITE, since there seeems to be only one. I guess the schools are still doing a less than adequate job of teaching Reading. Stop misdirecting your anger and acting more like the Birthers and Tea Baggers than an Obama Supporter. Every time I see the big daughter, why do I think she’s either 13,14, or 16? Only to find out she’s only 11. Boy! IDK what it is because it’s not like she’s dressed inappropriate or anything she just looks older or slightly grown.
It’s because she is so tall. She wasn’t much taller than Sasha when her father was elected, not it seems she has shot up like a beanstalk. She’s getting up there near her mom’s height. That’s probably what it is. Because I am amazed at how much she has grown in the past year.
And her height combined with her looking older doesn’t help Lol she’s a pretty girl though.

The president needs a vacation considering all of the work and traveling he has done.
Could you even imagine “ole” McCain keeping up with a schedule like President Obama has. That ole goat would be in hospital by now. I get tired just reading about all the work that President Obama has. Man, he will never worry about weight gain. But may I add, and I’m sure you will agree…..HE ALWAYS LOOK JUST FINE. Imagine to look like that and be brilliant.

Beautiful family!!! Glad they had a chance to spend time together on vacation. Malia looks older due to her height (which obviously isn’t her fault). When I was 9 years old I got my growth spurt. I was 5′6, with a c cup, and a size 9 shoe. The issue with my mom was finding clothes that fit and didnt look old. It can be a difficult period to go through so lets lay off her a tad…………..
Since her mother has a designer, I’m quite certain that won’t be a problem for Malia. Wouldn’t you?
If anyone deserves a vacation it is Obama since he has inherited one big mess from Bush/Cheney. Obama has three wars raging, the Health care system is in crisis, the economy is bad, unemployment is on the rise and there is a major flu epidemic. And then there is that big mess at Git Mo and the tortured prisoners.
What angers me is the people who keep criticizing what Mrs. Obama wears. She always looks nice; why do people pick on her when past first Ladies looked frumpy, messy and outdated, yet,no one ridiculed their clothes.

Your post is so true. Now I can see why Bush was hiding during his last days. He knew he had made a mess and he couldn’t wait to get out of there. At the Inauguration all the people were glad to see Bush leave; but I think that Bush was glader than all the people to get out of there. What a mess to have to walk into. President Obama is a strong man. I feel that he will continue to do a great job even though there are so many trying and praying that he will fail, but they will never live to see that day. He is the Chessmaster.
