Reality stars Reverend Run, Justine Simmons, and their son Russell Simmons II,12, were photographed outside of Barnes & Noble on August 25th in Paramus, New Jersey. The husband and wife team are busy promoting their new book “Take Back Your Family: How to Raise Respectful and Loving Kids in a Dysfunctional World”.

This dude has a lot of kids..
I get the whole namesake idea…and that’s cute in many ways. But, why did he name his son Russell Simmons II? I mean, isn’t that kind of weird, conmsidering that he isn’t Russell Simmons’ son? What if Russell had/has a son that he wants to name Jr.?
He is not a Jr.Rev Run just want to honor his brothers by naming his sons after them, as Diggy is named after their older brother Daniel.If Russell has a son and want to make him a Jr. He can.
Naming him jr. is usually reserved for the son. The 2nd is for the namesake.
I think it’s cute too how the older Simmons each have a namesake in Rev. Run’s family.
I like it too. It’s always fun watching this family on TV.
My son is named Michael after his grandfather. I just did not get it as there is already another grandchild named Michael after the grandfather too. When I went to register the birth, I left him holding the baby and said that I was going to the supermarket. I registered Michael as a middle name…..

Rev. Run’s name is Joseph Simmons so Russy can’t be a junior. JoJo is Joseph Simmons Jr. after his father. Russy is named after his uncle so he would be the second. =)

There is a difference between the 2nd (II) and being a JR. If Russell Simmons has a son and wants to name him after himself he can be Russell Simmons Jr. I still think it’s weird, they could have made Russell and Daniel their middle names but whatever.
