LIONEL RICHIE HONORED AT UNCF GALA

Singer Lionel Richie and his family posed at “An Evening of Stars: A Tribute To Lionel Richie” hosted by UNCF on September 12, 2009. Lionel was honored for his musical achievements and for his work on behalf of UNCF(United Negro College fund).
“He is a national treasure,” said UNCF CEO Michael L. Lomax in a written statement, “and we’re proud to claim him, not only as a graduate of our storied member school, Tuskegee University, but as an artist of international renown and longtime supporter of UNCF and the work we do to make sure that every child in America gets an education that starts in preschool and doesn’t end until college graduation.”
Lionel’s son Miles Brockman (born May 27, 1994), his daughter Sofia (born August 26, 1998), his ex-wife Brenda Harvey, and his second ex-wife Diane Alexander, were all in attendance. Not in attendance was Nicole Richie, who recently gave birth to Lionel’s second grandchild.
I know Nicole is not his bio daughter but his daughter Sofia sure does look alot like Nicole (hint hint) another Tom Cruise situation?

Connor Cruise is adopted but he looks A LOT like Tom. People suspect that he is Connor’s biological father or is some how related. Not only do they look alike but their mannerisms are similar. Who knows?

Is Sofia’s hair dyed blond? If so, I didn’t realize girls that young were dying their hair.
Hopefully the little girl hair isn’t. But being mom appears to be a material girl and I’m basing that on what the media revealed about him paying her to maintain her lifestyle (CRAZY), I wouldn’t be surprised!
Seems women like that sometimes try to either live through their children or be their child’s friend & grow the child up to fast. Now I’m not saying that’s the case with them but just making observation.

Yes she did. And the media reported that for months afterward women used to give Brenda standing ovations when she would enter places.
Brenda was beating him up and the girlfriend (then) jumped into the fight and Brenda beat her.
i would have gave her a standing ovation too shoot women are tired of getting cheated on. and i heard the second ex wife cleaned him real good in the fivorce
Yeah, he had to maintain the lifestyle he had GIVEN her. He and Brenda had been together all through University. But the news said that Brenda gave him a good whipping and the girl too.
What?!?! The First Wife and the Mistress (second wife) were all in attendance together!?!?! Amazing!
Besides their coloring, I’ve never seen a similarity between Lionel’s daughters.

That is because Nicole isnt Lionel’s biological daughter…Sophia is, so you cannot really expect a similarity b/n them.
Its weird, but I see them lloking like sisters though.

I just love this…Brenda is a strong black woman, they need to be amicable and even friends if possible. Her and Lionel have history and share a daughter and now grandchildren together. I applaud her and this entire family for being just that, FAMILY!

Way to go Brenda, she has class, Don’t take no mess, but a classy woman to attend with Lionel and the ex wife. The kids are innocent. Her and Lionel started speaking again when Nicole needed them druing her drugh rehab days. Lionel should remarry Brenda. So she can get all that money and make up for cheating on her. The kids can get some too. LOL
I think that Lionel and Brenda both come from families that have money. So while he may have made millions in recording, he was never poor. Neither of them.

Yes! I love seeing ex’s and currents getting along especially when children are involved. It’s shows much maturity and the ability to let things go. I guess it also depends on the circumstances, but way to go, Lionel and Brenda.
I agree Terri…look at Will and Jada and how well they get along with Will’s ex-wife Sherri and with thier son Trey.
They all get along so well with each other and that’s the way it should be.

This is going to sound a little silly, but I think it’s adorable how Miles is posing with his head inclined towards Brenda’s. It’s not very often that you see a child posing with his father’s ex-wife who beat up [the child's] mother. lol I’m glad they’re over that piece of history. They all seem to have pretty solid, stable relationships now.
The children learn from their parents, and it appears that the parents are leading by example and acting like mature adults. Not that they asked for it, but I applaud the whole gang.
Well the child was not born when the beating took place.
But would you think highly of someone who’d beat up your mom, regardless of whether you were born before or after the incident? lol
My point is, they’ve had some serious, well-publicized disputes and they appear to have gotten past all of it.
I am amazed that they are together today after Lionel cheated on Brenda with Diane and Brenda beat him up!

i read somewhere that Nicole’s bio-logical father is the brother of Sheila E. Sophia’s hair is not dyed it’s natural. I saw a picture of her when she was a baby and it was the same color as it is now. ex’s can get along especially when there are kids involved I don’t see why it would have to be a problem

No, sophie hair is NOT dyed blond and she is Lionel Richie biological daughter.It’s HIS child. Sophie is biracial and as many know and understand biracial comes in many different shades and eye color and hair color. Pretty little girl!

And by the way,Lionel was not cleaned out financially by his divorce. He is still super rich - fills arenas all around the world and his albums still hit the Top 10. Also money still comes from royalties from all his old hits which still get played all over the world.

the mother is putting lemon juice to lighten the hair. Babies that are born blond usually turn dark as the get older especially since both parents have dark hair naturally. So mom is doing something to create the blond hightlights. My daughter is biracial and i did the same thing. Anyway, kudos to Brenda, Lionel’s creativity music wise took a beaten when he dumped her for a woman half his age. Damn couldn’t he see he was just going through a 40’s mid life crisis? Furthermore Brenda withstood insult to injury because she was incapable of baring her on children. Shame on you Lionel! Would he be standing there with her man if she had left him and had children for him if he was infertile…I doubt it.
