I had the opposite problem my son had a head full of hair everybody thought he was a girl. He wore little boy outfits and had blue blankets. If I had a baby girl I would not buy it for her. Bald headed babies are cute.

Wait folks black people can’t take the credit for this! Just look at the baby in the pic and click on the website link! And folks had the nerve to point out that black people are too caught up in their image and appearance! Hmph!

Ditto. With all our hangups regarding hair, I just assumed this came from us. (Shame on me for stereotyping–on my own people at that!) It does look like something that the moms on “Toddlers and Tiaras” would buy though. Just sayin’….

so did i – with both my boys!! and they would be dressed in their high top sneakers and basketball/football tshirts and still people would tell me how beautiful “she” was with all that hair! they each had a head full of hair.

but a hairpiece for a baby – that is just too much!!! there is nothing wrong with a bald little girl. i think they are so cute!

No. Absolultely not. I would not trust a baby to wear this. There would be nothing more embarassing to the mother than to be in public and the baby gets tired of wearing it and throws it off their head for everyone to see that their must is trying to make them into something they are not. Usually babies who are born bald end of with a lot of hair eventually.

  • Pisces September 29, 2009 at 2:39 pm

It does seem that it could be a potential safety hazard if you lay the baby down and the wig slips off close to the baby’s mouth or nose.

The style looks old timey to me, too.

@Khrish..Hi there! I wondered where you’ve been. Hope all is well with you and yours. I’ve read your comments today and they’re good as usual.

I’ve been confronted by the same tired dialogue from an angry half breed after I posted about the book for interracial kids written by Kim Wayans.

Just like the race question about Michael Jackson’s kids (btw, which I agree with your response there), the interracial debate goes on forever at BCK with the emphasis of some on maligning and putting down African American women.

As always, I just roll with it because this is a fun site and I enjoy coming to it.

          Take care.

Wouldn’t a wig make the baby’s head sweat after awhile? I get shudders just thinking about scalp diseases putting this wig on a child’s head could cause. You may as well just put a pink cap on the baby’s head! Or just put the earrings and the headband on.

      Flag this

      • Whataboutsweat? September 29, 2009 at 5:20 pm

Mothers have enough to worry about with their baby’s hair or head issues… like cradle cap, psoriasis and the proper closing of the babies skull at the top of its head.

Putting a heavy, nasty wig on a baby’s head cannot be healthy at all! This can’t be real.

  • Realist September 29, 2009 at 2:54 pm

    WTF?????

If they don’t knock it off. Who in their their right mind would even come up with the thought of making a baby wig? Now I could understand if it were for little children with cancer or a sickness of such. What baby do any of us know that would actually keep that mess on top of their head without pulling it off and eat or play with it?

This is just lame! It’s a gimmick, and a stupid one at that. Can’t anything be sacred and natural anymore? A baby is the one thing in this world that should be as is and is perfect left natural!

I have a niece who is 4 mo. old, and everyone thinks she’s wearing a wig, because she has SO MUCH hair, it doesn’t really look like it’s all hers…but with these stupid new baby wigs now people really aren’t going to believe my sis when she tells them it’s real!

I really do hope this is a hoax. My oldest daughter didn’t have much hair as a baby, but she’s always had very ‘girly’ features. I would never have considered putting that rug on her head, either! Have always been more concerned about her mental, physical and spiritual nourishment than a lack of hair.I can totally understand children who wear hairpieces, wigs, etc as a result of alopecia or chemotherapy. But a WIG for a BABY? SMH. I hope we have not degenerated so much as a people that there is an actual market for this.
The baby in the picture looks gorgeous in the before pic, that wig is totally unnecessary.

I had a little girl in my pre-Kindergarten class who was 4 years old and she wore a wig to school every single day. They child would play and the wig would be all different ways on her head. It was just a big annoyance for the child. It was ridiculous. The mother did it because the child’s hair was short. We never could talk the mother into leaving that wig at home. It was the first time I had ever seen a child that young in a wig. This is even worse. I can’t imagine. The way babies move about, how in the devil would they keep it on the baby’s head.

I have to say I think the baby is beautiful with or without the weave. I would put earrings in b4 a weave if anyone mistook my baby girl for a boy. I say all the weave would do is start teaching your child self hate at a younger age instead of putting your pride aside and knowing that her feelings of self-worth are far more precious than you being upset because someone thought your she was a he. Hell all my kids were born with heads full of hair. I have 3 girls and 1 boy and people mistook my son for a girl and it didn’t bother me, because the people that made the mistake didn’t know me or my child so what they thought didn’t matter.

Ridiculous, the baby looks less cute with all that unnatural hair. I mean what baby has hair like that anyway. What happened to lace headbands and bows? duh! I don’t even like earrings on girls and especially boys. But idk when I was young I looked like girl but my mom put me on headbands and bows. This bang thing is ridiculous, but some idiot, vain parent would try it.

It’s a sad day when the beauty industry is trying to improve babies’ looks. What is cuter than a little bald headed baby. What is next, press -on-nails for your toddler, a little blush for your pale pre-schooler? Again a sad day.

LMFAOOOOOOOO oh man…people are crazy. Why do that to a baby? Let that scalp breatheeee. The hair will grow…just take care of it when it does, and your baby will have a head full of hair before you know it. I’d slap my nieces mothers and call CPS if I ever saw any of them with that thing on their heads.
