UPCOMING: IS ZEWDY THE NEXT BEYONCE?
Is Zewdy the next Beyonce or better? Zewdy Awalom,19, is an up-and-coming R&B singer whose voice has been compared to that of singer Beyonce. Here is mini-bio of Zewdy courtesy of Absolutepunk:
Born in New York City, in the early morning of July 4th, 1990, to an Ethiopian mother and an Eritrean father, Zewdy grew up in Union, New Jersey, where she polished her natural vocal skills, singing with her R&B vocalist/song writer/guitar player father and her sister, using Karaoke machine at home and singing along with the radio. Even at the age of two, she had a perfect pitch and could learn a song after only a couple of takes. At the age of four, she used to amaze visitors at home by playing any tune on the piano by ear.
Although Zewdy names Beyonce Knowles as her idol, there’s a host of other artists she admires, such as Stevie Wonder, the late Donnie Hathaway, Mariah Carey, and Christina Aguilera, to name a few. She confesses, ” I like the contemporary stuff, but my true love lies in the old school.”

Imitation is the perfect form of flattery. She is close,she sounds pretty good actually– but Beyonce’s timbre is a little sweeter and control better. But Beyonce also has more experience and has been a show biz pro for some time.
I wish this young lady luck. My advice is not to tie her image too much to Beys. Take note from her little sister who has cut her hair and is trying to get out of that wide cast shadow….

Furthermore…..why do people keep comparing everyone to Beyonce’? She is my fave artist…but no one can touch what she does…in a class by herself…give people a chance. By mentioning or comaparing another artist when presenting a new one, you kind of take away from their shine.
BUT it is obvious she has listened to Beyoncne and Rhi Rhi and this could create a problem for her…..someone needs to put a bug in her ear and hip her to this.
I think she sounds awesome and with hardwork, dedication, and consistency she probably can go as far or further than Beyonce in her career! Keep up the good work!

She sounds pretty good, but I wouldn’t go far as saying she’s the next Beyonce. She definitely has a style all her own and will definitely go far!

BCK shame on you! The title “Is Zewdy the next Beyonce” invokes negativity from even the slightest Beyonce fan. How about “Zewdy, A new singer inspired by….”. That way you give props to both the new singer and the established celebrity.
I have seen Zewdy’s videos on YouTube and am delighted she is making a path towards her goals. It is good to see fresh new singers who break the mold. Beyonce, EnVogue, Mary J Blidge, Mariah Carey, and others were all young girls at one time imitating Minnie Ripperton, Donna Summer, Natalie Cole, and countless others. It is certainly an honor to be imitated.

The next Beyonce? Hmmmm don’t know but def not now. There will be no room for the next Beyonce until Beyonce loses her shine or calls it quits.
She is very good. Check out Haben Abraham and her sisters they have a group called Eriam. They are very good.
She has a pretty voice but should create her own image and songs.

I think she sounds good although she does have a way to go before she is really considered great. I dont know why BCK is comparing her to Bey, there are many female singers who sing better than Bey but havnet gotten the recognition.
