I read in another magazine that she is going through a Tomboy phase and one of the kids accidentally knocked one of her front teeth out. Also, she wants to be called “John”.

It’s unny that she wants to be called John. My son went through a phase where he only wanted to wear pink shirts and told everyone his name was Patrick Star – as in Patrick Star from SpongeBob Squarepants. Too cute. She’ll grow out of it.

I thought Brad said in an interview that she was obsessed with the movie Peter Pan. I don’t see anything wrong with it. She’s a tomboy. It would be one thing if that’s the way her parents dressed her, but I suspect Brad and Angie let her pick her own clothes most of the time.
As for Z’s hair, I love it! I wish I could get my hair like that. I was worried for a while when they kept it pulled back all the time. But, one thing I noticed about white people who raise black kids is that they often let the hair go natural, as opposed to press n curl and relaxers on the girls. I’ll be curious to see what Heidi Klum does to her daughter’s hair, if her hair is like Henry’s or Johan’s.

@K- Shiloh kind of reminds me of how her dad dresses so maybe in her “tomboy” state she wants to dress like him. I think it’s cute! She’s still young so I’m sure she’ll become the prancy pants everyone wants her to be..or maybe not! I don’t think we should put a label on a 3 yr old…JMHO.

Cute! These girls are precious. Angelina used to be a tomboy and dress like this as a child. I guess that’s why she’s cool with it. Zahara’s smile is gorgeous. I could care less about the children’s look. I just think it’s beautiful that they are both different colors but they can hold hands and love each other. I love the idea of their rainbow family.

I really love this family but I’m sorry, it’s enough of little Zahara walking around with her hair not combed!! All she needs is a few braids and she’d be good; her hair is going to start breaking off because they are not caring for it. I love how they are letting the kids be kids and not caring about what they wear, etc… but this is too much. She has different needs than the others in regard to hair care and they need to embrace that as one of her unique factors. Plus, its going to be a rude awakening for her when she gets of school age and the other little black girls are like “what’s wrong w/ your hair”

I never once mentioned her hair being in a million little barrettes, perms, straightening combs and such… but this kid does need to have her hair maintained. She’s the only African child they have and she does have different needs when it comes to her hair–why is that a problem or me saying that she shouldn’t embrace her “natural” hair. Just because she has a natural curl doesn’t mean that her hair won’t mat/tangle and cause breakage.

Can you pls tell me how do you know Zahara’s hair is not being taking care of? How do you know someone does not wash, grease, brush & fluff it out to make it look like that everyday?
She’s only 31/2, please leave the precious baby alone. As long as your children’s hair are kept the way you want it, so what about Zahara.

Zahara has the most beautiful, wide, brillant smile ever on a little girl. So precious.
The one thing that stands out in this picture is how the two sisters are holding hands. There are holding hands so tightly as the get off the van & as they walk. To them, it doesn’t matter the color of their skin, their nationality nor the manner they dress, all that matters are they are sisters. Simply wonderful.
I know people love WIll & Jada, but I love Angelina & Brad more. They do not have to adopt all those children, the fact that they want to, makes it all the more holy. Praise God.

Angie and Brad might want to consider hiring a black nanny to care for Zahara’s hair; they obviously don’t know how to care for it. Our hair has special needs.
Madonna keeps her little African daughter’s hair in cute corn rows. I doubt if Maddona does them herself; she probably hired someone to care for the litte girls hair.

Our hair only require “special” care because we’ve been taught to think that way. No other race makes such a big deal out of their natural hair. Her hair is fine. Maybe she’ll be one of the only black girls to grow up without a hair complex. It’s so not that serious.

Enough already with people talking about Zahara’s hair “not being combed”. This little girl is beautiful! Her hair is natural, appears to be healthy and thats what matters! So what she doesnt have a million barettes and pig tails sitting on top of her head. Shes a kid…and isn’t thinking about vanity, unlike some of the adults who have such an issue with her hair. People, particularly African American women, constantly feeling the need for hair to look a certain way, is the exact reason for many young girls grow up being obsessed with their hair and suffering from low self esteem if it doesnt look a certain way. Chill out and leave this beautiful little girl alone.

Just be happy that she was adopted and has parents that love her and take care of her… Besides Zee is Ethiopian and has a different hair texture than most blacks b/c Ethiopians are mixed with caucasians (middle eastern, white). Her hair probably has to be washed evry few days. And by the way her hair is beautiful unlike the perms we subject ourselves to

*sigh* As soon as I saw these photos on another celebrity baby blog, I sighed. I just knew that people on BCK would be up in arms over Z’s hair yet again. I wish we’d get past the idea that Black hair only looks good if it’s braided, cornrowed, twisted or permed within a strand of its life. Her hair looks healthy and clean, and so does the rest of her – that’s all that should matter.

It’s sad so many of us still have a complex about hair. Newsflash… braids and ponytails do not help your hair grow, protect it or qualify as “hair care”. They are hairstyles, period. If cornrows, braids, and ponytails help to produce long, healthy beautiful heads of hair, where are they? 75-80 percent of young black girls wear their hair in those styles throughout their childhood and most don’t end up with long healthy heads of hair. It’s 2009, time to explore other options and let the hair complex go. Natural beauty, no restraints, set your hair free.

The reason most little black girls hair isn’t long and healthy is because by the time they get to middle school their hair gets permed. By the time they get to high school the perm/relaxer has broken off their hair.
Curly hair is fragile and too much brushing and combing will break the hair, so braids help keep the hair safe from damage caused by daily grooming. This is also evident by the fact that black people with dreadlocks having some of the longest and fastest growing hair partially because they aren’t constantly brushing/combing their hair, but just twist the new growth into the lock and keep the hair moisturized. Also, braiding helps lock the moisture into the hair so it won’t become dry so quickly; another problem with curly hair.

Zahara has the “good hair” that some blacks still harp over. I am surpised to see it downgraded on this blog. I love my fuzzy halo of wool, but I wouldn’t mind having Zs softer, slightly more defined curls either. Bet her hair is even prettier in person, a picture distorts a bit and doesn’t tell the whole story.
That said, I have to admit,I wouldn’t mind seeing a change up with Z’s do’ every once in a while –a loose pony or two–nothing too greasy, tedious or tacky.

These are some cute pics and i like Zahara’s purple dress she looks good in that color and she has a pretty smile as well.I don’t think i’ve ever seen her so happy. Shiloh looks like a little fisherman with that hat on and i think she is cute with her tooth missing. The picture of the two sisters holding hands with Shiloh’s eyes closed is real cute. I don’t find anything wrong with her hair this style actually fits her and i do like that her hair is natural.

I definently agree. NOTHING is wrong with Zahara’s hair. I have hair just like Zahara and my mom hates the way i keep it out. shes always arguing to me how she can’t keep it up with natural hair and I cant leave it out. I refuse to think that us black people need “special needs” for our hair. If a white or asian person can leave their hair out; SO CAN I!

every single picture that i’ve ever seen of Shiloh, she is dressed like a boy. It’s like Angie and Brad are encouraging her to act and be like a boy…. I mean what’s up with that? At that age, psychologically, children are trying to understand their sex and who they are.. Shiloh will end up growing confused that she’s a boy, and then next thing you know, we’ll hear she’s gay.. I mean.. bad parenting.. and I don’t care if they adopt and help people less fortunate or not.. it’s called bad parenting..

I’ve been a fan of Zee since she was adopted. She has a strong physical resemblance to AJ. Look at the forehead, nose, mouth and smile. I truly believe they chose each other. Zee tend to be a tiny AJ. She is a daddy’s girl, always being carried by BP. She has middle eastern curls which are not nappy. it does not braid well & untangles/frizzes quickly. Many women in my circle of acquaintances have taken up a similar style of ‘fro”. It takes maintenance but the natural styling is healthier for “our” hair no matter what type it is. This kid is too cute.
