WOMAN MUST REPAY CHILD SUPPORT PAYMENTS TO EX- NBA PLAYER

A U.S Judge has ordered a woman named Karen Russell to repay former NBA player, Jason Caffey, $57,470.50 in child support payments. Karen Russell is one of eight women who has a child with the ex-NBA player.

Last year, Caffey , who used to play for the Milwaukee Bucks, Golden State Warriors, and the Chicago Bulls, was arrested for failing to pay child support payments to Karen. Caffey negotiated his release by paying $80,000.00 to Karen and her attorney.

Here comes the twist: Caffey filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy at the time and  notified both Russell and her lawyer.  Experts say that once someone has filed for bankruptcy, he or she can not be forced to pay child support. Karen, therefore, should have put a  stop to the child support payments once she knew that Caffey had filed for bankruptcy.

Jason has ten children in all.

See the video below to hear about this bizarre case.

    DANGGGGGGG!! Loser.

  • LadyK3734 says:

This is the craziest thing I have ever heard… I guess that is going to be men way out NOT to pay child support…just file Bankruptcy…Crazy!!!!!

  • onnum2 says:

wow. I hope she still has that money, or she is gonna be filing for bankruptcy!!!!!

  • Amerie says:

what the hell …so because of him being irresponsible and making bad decesions the child has to suffer. This law needs to be changed the children still have to eat and be clothed and have a roof over their heads. This law needs to change ASAP.

  • Monique says:

OMG!!!! Just trifling!!!!! He should be embarrassed to be seen in public.

  • Sherley says:

I understand he needs to be shot for having so many children by so many different women, however the women deserve to be shot as well. All they were thinking about where dollars signs, not the fate of the children.

If I am with a man who has 2 kids by 2 different women & not paying child support for either of them, not only will I not have children by him, but I will run away as fast as I can.

He & his many baby mommas are trifling. Disgusting.

    T—R—I—F—L—I–N–G!!!!

  • Wth! says:

    Wow….thats crazy!
I live in the state of Pennsylvania and child support payments can not be considered in bankruptcy…thank God!
When my childrens father filed for bankruptcy I attended the hearing to protect my childrens best interest and the judge informed both of us and our attorneys that child support or any arrears cant be written off in bankruptcy in the state of Pennsylvania.
Thankfully my kids dad wasnt trying to claim any child support in his bankruptcy but I still made it my business to make sure that I was looking out for my kids.
I feel so bad for this lady…and disgust for that ball player!

  • BB says:

Oh Lawd!! I started not to post.

Such stupidity simply takes my breath away. 10 kids!!!

HOw many baby mammas? Not to be funny, just curious. What was this man’s situation. I know he was getting paid alright even if he was a bench warmer and he couldn’t manage any better.

I can see one, maybe two kids—but quit it already–spreading seeds all over the place like some mad bee spreading pollen around.

Nature will take care of its seeds, now you take care of yours –Mr. Bull (and bull it is)

The bankuptcy law needs to be changed when child support order is involved. Anyone with half a brain knows it takes more than love to raise a child–esp. these days….

    • BB says:

just reread the article and see that there were no less than 8 baby mamas for his 10 children.

Cautionary tale to wanna be mack/player studs and women with get- knocked-up-4-payday-schemes. I can’t pretend to know the real motives or intentions behind the hook-ups of any of these folk–but surely a couple of the baby mamas had to have a clue?—or was his game that good—-well a-PARENT-ly it has caught up with him and I do hope he is made to own up to his responsibility.

  • truth says:

Child support and Alimony is not subject to Bankruptcy. There is something that was not shared here. Otherwise all men would use that as a copout. Under this law those are the only things that ARE PROTECTED under chapter 11.

    • BB says:

truth, I hope you are right. The chidren didn’t ask to be here and the law should be there to protect the interests of these faultless children.

This story is shameful and sad. I hope this guy had a back up plan beyond the “hoop dream.”

  • Lady Troublesome says:

    Ten kids. Eight women…Shameful!

  • Toni says:

I’m mad they decided to back track to get his money back! Smh. Trifling!

    • Khrish says:

Wouldn’t that become a “catch 22″. He is not paying because of the br. but when she gives him back the money won’t he have to pay her then? Because then he would have money.

      • CurlsN'Kinks says:

That is the same thing I said. I would show my tail if I was that mother. He wouldn’t see a dime of that money and I would tell all of them upfront that I am not paying nothing back.
Those children are his responsibility. I bet you he wasn’t thinking about money and bankruptcy when he was sowing his wild oats. I wouldn’t care if he had to get three, four, or five jobs to support his kids but I know if I was that judge he would pay that child support *SMH*…shame

      • Toni says:

        Exactly! So confusing!

  • SweetDiva says:

The law is crazy. I understand that someone who is bankrupt is to be released from debt. At the very least, support should be reduced. Shouldn’t he be the one to petition the court to cease payments upon filing for bankruptcy? Why should that be the responsibility of the mother?

  • Lori says:

What a disgusting MESS!!!! smh :-(

  • tony says:

Well I’m all for the child getting financial support from the parent who the are not living with, but I think the kind of child support that these celebrities are paying should stop. Not only are they paying child support but they also have to pay for private school as well, trust funds too. These women should not be granted that much money you cannot spend the amount that they get every month.Celebrities get smarter not dumber have babies by the one you want to marry, because these people and their lawyer are out to get you.I think Diddy needs to take all 3 of his babymama’s to court to bring their child support down.

    • Khrish says:

Well when you have more you owe more. Private school is a part of the child support and so is college. But I totally agree with you, maybe if they have to shell out this kind money they will learn to control their urges, hence lessening the number of partners they select for bedmates.

  • Leo says:

I’m only sorry for the children in this mess. I question the judgement of some of these women. I say SOME because I can’t determine how many of them were genuine in their expectations of a relationship and how many were just looking for pay day. However, I am frowning hard at the father’s shenanigans. You’d think he’s have grown a flipping clue or two after the first two children and nipped all future situations in the bud (pun very much intended).

  • Jolie says:

Irresponsible looser, going around having a bunch of out of wedlock kids only shows that you are not a real man. Just come out already.

  • luvbug says:

That judge need to resign, wth? 10 kids by 8 different women, triflind, know he have some diseases. It is thousands of athletes and the only ones u ever hear having all these kids by different women r black men.

    • BB says:

That point is like the elephant in the room. Nobody wants to come out and say it, but it sadly appears to be true. Yeah, there are plenty of responsible black men/fathers, but there are still too many playing games with not only their lives, but the lives of others and when its children involved, I see red.

We need to clean up some of our own problems in our communties along with continuing to stand up in the face of racism.

Unfortunately, this “stud” mentality is partially a left-over from when black men were literally studded out in slave days and families were separated, marriages not always encouraged, plus it was the only thing with power–the sex and making babies–some were relegated to have. Time to stop blaming “massa” for some of these issues….

I don’t mean to get on a soapbox. There are things I wish I could have done differently too. At the end of the day it is about taking ownership and responsibility.

  • Zogie says:

What in the world??? What state is this??? Apparently he had the money to give to her.. So why does she have to give it back???

  • MADE.IN.NY says:

10 children in all? 8 different females? How many of these females was he actually married to? Did he even marry 1 of their behinds? I can’t, not today . . .

  • BCKay says:

If she has to repay him, i would’ve taken the money to. Just because the law says that she has to repay him doesn’t mean that he has to take the money from her. Since he is the father of the children, he shouldn’t force her to repay the child support regardless of the law.

10 children by 8 different women. I can see if it was 10 by 1 woman and he was able to care for them but 10 kids by 8 women. This wouldn’t be acceptable even if it was Bill Gates.

10 children by 8 women is ridiculous.

  • Felicia says:

Jason Caffey needs to make and appointment with his doctor and have a VASECTOMY as well as getting tested for STD’S. IT’S very clear that he does not believe in condoms. The ladies that he conceived the children with were clearly out of their minds as well because no women in her right mind would have even considered having any physical contact with a man like Jason Caffey who plays RUSSIAN ROULETTE with his life as well as others. THE MAN HAS 10 CHILDREN WITH EIGHT WOMEN. ENOUGH JASON YOUR BABY MAKING DAYS NEED TO COME TO END. MAKE THAT APPOINTMENT FOR VASECTOMY ASAP.

  • LACY says:

I quite sure the second baby mama knew about the first and the third knew about the second and the fourth knew about the third and so on ..This what happens when women have kids instead of working for a pay check..I’m sure that money is long gone , she spent all of it ..

One theory to consider is , we will always have this problem as long as the poverty and underprivileged workup class exist ..When women can’t get ahead in life they resort to tricks like this ..

  • Antoywn says:

Well i think the brother made a smart move because there are alot of broke, sorry and trifflin women out here i over paid $15,000 dollars do you think the court system cared if i got my money back but quick to put a [person]in jail……….

  • AfroSunshine says:

Ok….acording to my reading on Chapter 11. Child support payments can not be forgiven. So, with that being said, I hope she files an appeal to the court and bring up this obviously overlooked fact in the case. Pay him back!!!…..in the end she’ll get to keep the money.
