Meanwhile, the New York Times has traced the first lady’s ancestry back through five generations and found that the first lady’s great-great-great-grandmother was a slave and that her great-great-great grandfather was a white man.

“She is representative of how we have evolved and who we are,” historian Edward Ball said. “We are not separate tribes of Latinos and whites and blacks in America. … We’ve all mingled, and we have done so for generations.”

Who cares. I praise Mr. and Mrs Robinson and Mrs Obama herself for their values instilled that make her the successful, beautiful, elegant, brilliant, inspirational, wife, mother and First Lady that she is today.

They are truly such a beautiful family. As far as the article is concerned, I’m not really sure anyone would be shocked. Interesting, yes? Surprising? Nope.

    I love the Obamas!

Well I’m glad to see the BCK readers are staying positive. I’m surprised they aren’t eating this article up, as much as they bring up race, complexion, and hair texture. I didn’t want to be the one to bring the “race card” up but I just wanted to give props to the readers for taking the high road =)

The family looks very happy, I wish them the best!

It seems that since the night he was elected she just jumped in height. You are so right, she’s almost as tall as her mom. She was barely taller than Sasha on election night. She is certainly President Obama’s “Mini Me.”

Wow, if you click that link that leads to the NY Times article, it leads to a family tree that show pictures of both of her parents when they were young. Malia looks just like her grandmother!! I always thought she looked more like her father but she definitely takes after her mother’s side.

If you see a picture of her Paternal grandmother and great-grand father, you would have to rethink that resemblence. I put the pictures together of President Obama, his mother, his grandfather and Malia and it’s like the emerging of one face.

OMG. That is the same thing I said. They call Obama Bi-racial, which technically he is, but a few years ago he would have been just black. How hard for is it for people to accept that they are Black. Yes the president of the United States is married to a black woman *SMH* Hell I am sure almost all black people have white in them a few generations back but you don’t see people trying to call us mixed, we are just black *SMH*….I hope she says she is black.

She never says anything about it so I suppose it doesn’t matter to her. He has always classified himself as Black. I don’t even know why they printed that stuff. As you said, unfortunately or fortunately, we all got hit with that stick some where in our lineage. Who cares! it doesn’t make or any more nor any less. She is still a beautiful first lady.

I hope the Obamas continue to visit churches in the area and not select just one church to become members. As soon as they saw them at this church they started writing about the pastor and his beliefs. It seems the first family always get in trouble about his pastors. If they stay aloof and just visit churches, the press can lay off the choice of ministers.

I must say they is a cute family, and obama has so cute kids. So what if Malia go be as tall is her dad, smh, their are millions of Tall Beautiful women out there, and Malia and Sasha or just as pretty as any other young girl.. tall and all..

Black must really be important because it is always a topic when individuals start talking about someone important being this or that racially. Whatever the obamas are physically, did not hinder them from aspiring. Seems as if it the mind that matters, and everything else is bull.
