Actress Thandie Newton and her daughters Ripley (b. 2000) and Nico (b. 2004) attended the premiere of Wes Anderson’s latest film, “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” premiered at The Times BFI London Film Festival, yesterday.

In a recent interview with Independent in September , Thandie spoke of her love for her daughters.

“I cannot believe how much I love them,” she said. “I fed them both and carried them in me. When I see women who have plastic surgery done to their boobs I think, ‘How can you when they have fed your children?’”

Beautiful!! Now THIS is the way to do a nice, nappy afro. Angelina and Heidi take note! Your cans can be natural with groomed hair. Genetics is funny, these girl’s are only a quarterblack but they look much more. Gorgeous!!

Beautiful kids with a beautiful mother who happens to be a very talented actress. I think Ripley looks like her father Ol Parker and Nico looks like a miniature blonde version of Thandie. Gorgeous family.

I see no difference in this child’s hair and Zahara or HEIDI’S SONS’ hair.As a matter a fact Nico’s hair looks just as dry as Zahara’s

Her youngest reminds me of my daughter with her mannerisms. I wish my daughter had this hair texture. Hers is blond and straight down to her butt. I LOVE afros on little girl’s though. Oh well, maybe our next will be so lucky. Gorgeous family!

Her girls are simply beautiful, Nico is her mom’s mini-me, though Ripley resembles her mom a lot too. I think Thandie has a face with quite unique features, so it would be hard not to pick it up if you’re her kid, lol.

I don’t see the difference between Nico’s hair and Zahara’s hair and Henry’s/Johan’s hair- they have natural afros that look slightly messy. In fact, I think Nico’s is the messiest of the four I just mentioned- her sister’s hair isn’t neat either. I was shocked to see so many positive comments about it, after reading so many negative ones about Z’s hair- they are no different in my opinion. I personally like it slightly messy, gives it character.

Basically people give Thandie a pass because of her heritage. Angelina can’t ride on the same ticket.

I think the kids look really cute :)

Thandie is half English/white (father) and half black/african (mother). I heard somewhere that her mom was an african princess?

The father of the children is an english/white film producer or director I believe.

I remember this actress from way back when she was in a film with Nicole Kidman–I forget the name–they were teens.

Not as big a fan as I use to be–no particular reason but will always love the name Thandiwe (beloved)–her given name.

Even if the kids dad wasn’t white, the kids
would be biracial because Thandie is a mix
of a African mom and a white father.

But the kids are mostly white because their
only link to blackness is the half from their
mother. Doesn’t matter to me though. Pretty kids.

I didn’t like the little girl’s hair at first but then i saw the close up pic and i liked it but her hair is dry. Very few people let their children wear their hair in it’s natural state but if more did, what reaction would they get from others? Some on here don’t like Heidi’s children hair and Zahara’s hair and some may not like this child’s hair. If there were more black children that wore their hair like this, i don’t think it would be acceptable to many people.

Like Jazz says, what’s so different about Nico’s hair and Henry’s and Zahara’s hair? If you can’t see anything wrong with this child’s hair, you can’t see anything wrong with those other children’s hair. If this child’s hair is acceptable, Henry and Zahara’s hair has to be acceptable. There are no major differences between these 3 children’s hair.

No calls for their hair to be combed ‘properly’? Wow. *tear of joy* There’s hope for us yet.

Thandie has adorable daughters. Her genes are strong; I see so much of her in them.

    Adorable kids.
And Im glad there wasn’t too much fuss about the hair. AND since we have both Thandie and Liya Kebede with kids with natural fros, unsymmetrical, untamed large dos, ya can’t go blaming white women’s ignorance for the hairstyles. BOTH are women who aren’t just black, but African.

And um, people get off the whole “their hair is dry” thing. Natural hair, especially very curly coily hair does not have natural sheen or shine. All this talk of unhealthy “dry hair” when Zahara, Henry, Johan and this child ALL have LONGER hair than the average AfricanAmerican woman.

We cant even see the irony. Pointing fingers at these mothers whose kids have more hair than most African AMericans and accusing them of not knowing how to take care of their children’s hair.

    • Flukey October 16, 2009 at 11:22 pm

Quality, not quantity! It’s silly of you to suggest that people can’t comment that these kid’s hair is unhealthy simply because it might be longer than theirs.

Tbh, I don’t see anything wrong with any of the kids’ hair. What’s it got to do with me anyway?!

      • Nina October 20, 2009 at 5:19 pm

Duh, I am not saying all short hair is damaged or long hair healthy. Im saying that damaged hair rarely grows long and stays long. It almost always breaks. So um, whats unhealthy about any of the kids hair? Its not falling out in patches, it still grows, it doesnt appear to be broken off, no one appears to have traction alopecia from overly tight braids or ponytails.

HOW is their hair unhealthy again?

Meanwhile, hair breakage and the resulting inability to obtain the desired length is a pretty common complain of black women in the US.

So it seems to me that the people whose regime doesnt work are attempting to correct those who seem to have a handle on how to take care of hair in such a way that it doesnt fall out or break off.

Thandie is one of the most beautiful women in hollywood. It is not just her physical beauty but her humility and shyness make her attractive. Her girls do look a lot like her, especially her baby she looks just like her except for her hair and eye color. Beautiful..Stay blessed
