WOMAN CLAIMS STEVE MCNAIR FATHERED HER CHILD

A Mississippi woman is claiming that slain NFL player Steve McNair is the father of her 17-year-old daughter. Clover Lee, the woman in question, wants her daughter to be made an heir to McNair’s estate. In court documents filed on Friday(October 16th), Clover and her attorney, David Pitre of Gulfport, Miss., said in a statement:

“We expect that questions of paternity and heirship will soon be conclusively answered by DNA testing, which is currently being conducted.”

Clover Lee  is asking the court for back child support and her daughter’s “rightful share” of the McNair estate. McNair’s estate is worth $19.6 million.

Steve McNair, who died tragically in July of this year, did not leave a will. As such, his widow Mechelle McNair is entitled to 40 percent of the net value of the estate. Mechelle’s sons Trenton, 6, and Tyler, 11, and  Steve’s sons from previous relationships, Steve McNair Jr., 17, and Steven O’Brian Koran McNair, 15, are listed as heirs.

Pictured above is Mechelle Mcnair and Steve McNair’s youngest son.

Is she serious? Why did she wait until he died to come forth?

    • ModelChic says:

      My thoughts exactly!!

    • Theyknow says:

      Exactly…the child is almost grown!!!

    • Latifah says:

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe he was giving her money on side. Now that he’s gone the checks have stop rollin in. My heart goes out to his wife. Husband is killed by his lover…then you got baby mama’s crawling out the woodworks. This is so sad.

Are there any rich successful men who don’t cheat?

      • Realist says:

Happy someone thought the same. Unless this woman is crazy, he was probably supporting the child & she was cool with being on the DL. Once he died, money stopped.

I mean seriously…he was getting around, so I wouldn’t be surprised.

These tramps aren’t being let off the hook either. A lot of women are so cut throat when it comes to men these days, like that’s the last man on earth.

  • Brooklyn says:

This is so sad!!!!! Marriage meant nothing to this man……smdh……:-(

  • Kinereth says:

Here come all the baby-mamas, crawling out of the woodwork. Some times I wonder if these women deliberately target these men for the baby-mama check. It’s sad that these people do not value marriage and proper family relationships, and instead have seemed to endorsed the baby-mama culture…

  • Giggles says:

Does anyone respect the union of marriage anymore? If the people who are married won’t, how can anyone else? This is a shame…such a shame.

  • onnum2 says:

Lord what else does this family have to go thru because of that man?

  • Leo says:

*eye-roll and sigh* I’m disgusted but not at all surprised to read of this.

  • trixie says:

Such a sad situation all together. It doesn’t make sense for her to come out some 3-4 mths later after his deathe asking for money. My goodness, let the family have some peace.

  • april says:

Mechelle is wearing the heck out of that hat!

  • Kierra Jones says:

It sounds like a lot of posters are finding fault with the alleged mistress with the 17 year old child and not enough with the deceased. I don’t know their situation but we can plainly see he was certainly no angel.

    • SweetDiva says:

I don’t think anyone believes Steve was an angel, but the stankaliciousness of waiting at least 3 months (if not 17 years) to come forward is hard to ignore.
At this point, Steve can’t do any more wrong. However, Miss Lee’s motives are up for debate.

    • Leo says:

I can’t speak for everyone else, but my reason for being disgusted/far from surprised is that it was his shuffling around that brought this on. I’m just upset that it’s his wife that has to deal with his mess, while he’s resting in the grave. It’s just all too convenient that he’s not here to face the music

I’m not letting the woman off the hook, though. Why didn’t she make her claim when McNair was still alive, if he is her daughter’s father? Is it easier for her to collect what’s due now that he’s dead? There’s also a mention of back child support. Not knowing the facts, I’m assuming not a cent was paid to her during her child’s 17 years of life…which makes me even more curious as to why she waited till his death to speak up. Suppose he hadn’t gotten killed until after her child became a legal adult? Would we have heard anything at all?

      • Khrish says:

That’s the line that seems strange, (back child support) Why had she not filed for child support before? I can’t believe that he was doing so many things and never took the time to make a will. That’s just dumb.

    • casey says:

you might note that the deceased was not married at the time he may or may not have conceived the 17 yr old daughter. He should have been in a relationship with the mother of his 17 yr old son.
Why come out now? Why didn’t she speak up for her daughter 17 yrs ago? One can only think - its about the money since she wants her child’s “rightful” share. Yet she didn’t want her daughter’s “rights” when the man was alive?

  • leisalle says:

that woman want to get her child paid like the rest of his kids. what you mean why is she coming out now. she want the money.. thats the only reason.

  • tia says:

he probally already knew about the girl and was giving her mother money each month, her child is entitiled to some money just like the rest of them children,if it was you child wouldn’t you feel like she deserved some of that money also. These married need to stop messing around on they wives cause you just might not know who you dealing with.

    • Khrish says:

Then she must have been ruled by love instead of common sense. You have to get things in writing. She knows that now if she didn’t before. Obviously if she was getting paid under the table, he wasn’t taking care of that on a regular basis as she is requesting back payments. That should have given her a hint. Being up front is always the best policy. I hope she has paternity tests or his name on the certificate of birth because we all know that people get real crazy when it comes to money, especially after a death.

  • mel says:

This story wont end. CBS is reporting today that the murder doesnt add up and that there are lot of inconsistencies. Very sad for the family to go thru all of this.

  • MsSapphire9800 says:

    Money + Death = Greed
Most families will go through this, but back child support?
Why not file for support while to person is living?

  • leilaray says:

Maybe he was giving them money.. But then their filing for back child support….. back like how far? Her lawyer couldn’t be so stupid to walk into a court and beg for child support from when this child was born because then the mother is to blame, and I doubt a judge will recoupe for support dating back to birth when there isn’t any prior record of request for support. This is a horrible way for these kids to find out they have another sibling…

  • AirForceGirl says:

If it is his child than of course she has a right to a share also. If one of ya’ll had a child by him, you would make sure your kid was taken care of too. Especially if he has been paying her under the table all these years and the money stopped.

  • Brooks says:

Not gonna pass judgement on this 1 cuz there maybe reasons y she’s just now coming out. Like some1 mentioned earlier he could have been paying CS to her directly and she could have been content with that. Now with him being gone the $ has stopped & he’s been gone since July so the back CS could be from that point on.
The 17 y.o may soon be going to college (a very big expense)If he were still alive he may have contributed to that as well so the mother wants what her child is entitled to.
Don’t know jus sayin a lot of questions 2 b answered.

  • coco says:

This woman needs to go back under the rock in which she crwled from under…if this is his daughter why didnt she want the “child support” when he was alive??? sounds shady to me!. Clover Lee is 17 years ols and that means for 17 years she didnt have a father and her mother wasnt worried about it. Now that he is dead she wants it to be known to everyine but the one person who would have mattered in the situation the most…Steve McNair

  • dree says:

all I can say is this is a shame, women need to be more conscience about who they chose to have kids with and so do men. Why wait all this time, is it cause he dead and he had wished to keep the child a secret so now she comes out, cause that’s what im thinking. He has destroyed his good name because of his actions, and so have the people around him that enabled him, shame.

  • cookie says:

Well,my thoughts is why did she wait until now to come forward, things should have been square away when the child was first born.Far as the marriage, the wife should not be mad because the child was conceived before he marry her,the thing she have a right to be mad is that he didn’t tell her about the child. The best way to go about the situation is to get both of his parents and do a DNA test.

  • Deedra says:

That young girl in the picture looks like Deion Sander’s daughter

  • Goodconsuma says:

This is truly sad. McNair was more than likely sending this daughter’s mom a monthly check. This man had more drama than a little bit. I feel for his wife and kids, they have to live with this embarrassment. “My husband was killed by his mistress” - Not a good look.

  • [...] A woman has come out claiming that Steve McNair fathered her child.  Peep game. [...]

  • AfroSunshine says:

She probably is his. The man was a cheat and a liar. And…for that he paid unfortunately. But if she is an heir she is deserving. Men spend years making babies then denying them. I bet he was taking care of her financially when he was alive…his dirty little secret. And when he died…he stopped. If she waited 20 years and came forward, what does it matter? Bottom line..if he made the young lady..hes responsible for the young lady…..now that he has passed AND he had a very valuable estate…she is entitled to it. Like his other children. She is no less his child thatn the children he had by his wife. The mother might have waited an abnoxious amount of time…but…the Daughter, his blood deserves to be supported at least fiancially since it seems she may have never been supported emotionally.
