Last week, singer Ne-Yo premiered the video forĀ  song “Never Knew I Needed”, the pop theme song from Disney’s upcoming animated film The Princess and the Frog. In the video, Neyo works as a waiter who falls in love with a rich girl. The video, which was shot in New Orleans, was directed by Melina.

    like the song

like the video, however it was a child story so i think neyo could have keep the sexual scenes out of his video, i understand sex sells but this is for children, and totally inappropriate

    • Joy says:

When you say sexual scene are you refering to the kiss . . . If there was a different scence I did not see it. You do realize that the charaters in the movie kiss. There was nothing wrong with the video and its not selling sex. Yes this movie is for children. Have you watched disney lately. Have you seen the videos they show. This video is very pg compared to others I’ve seen. From the Miley Cyrus to the Ashley Tisadale videos just to name a few.

Is The Princess and the Frog an all Black cartoon? The first thing I think of with Disney is Uncle Remus. Hopefully it’s not filled stereotypes.

    • getagrip says:

I don’t know about the rest of the cast in this movie, but I do know that the prince is Latino/Hispanic. It really bothers me that we finally get a black princess and she just can’t have a black prince. WTF is that? I wouldn’t take my kid to see this movie; what does that subconsciously tell little black girls? I know its a cartoon but to have to had wait all this time for a Disney princess in color (real color, Jasmine was even watered down), it just seems to me like they could’ve gone all the way.

Isn’t Louisiana the setting for this film? If so, then the Prince would be creole, wouldn’t he?

      • Anna says:

It would teach little black girls that they should date/love whomever they want regardless of skin colour.

      • Victoria says:

I caught the preview for “The Princess and the Frog” when I saw “This Is It” a week or so ago, and I can definitely say that the Prince is a Black man of Creole heritage, as this delightful-looking film is set in Louisiana. I think this is a WONDERFUL step forward for Disney as there has never been an animated film with a princess theme aimed at Black girls–of ALL colors. The best I got when growing up was Jennifer Beals in an episode of “Faerie Tale Theatre” called ‘Cinderella’, and she was playing a White character. Just knowing she was half Black though, was good enough for me, LOL. Paired with the return to Disney’s charming hand-drawn animation and a great score (and Randy Newman is pretty great), I think this will be a terrific movie. Although I’m not a kid or have one, I’m a Disney fan and am going to be there for the animation alone.

  • Khrish says:

I am anxious to see this film. BCK do you have pictures of D.L. Hugley and his family. That’s the only celebrity family I have never seen on this site and would love to see.

Neyo’s song is ok but this movie needs a “A whole new world,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Colors of the Wind,” or “Reflection” type of song too. Who’s recording that one? Disney better break out some of their award winning songwriters and create something great. Neyo’s a good songwriter but where’s the Oscar winning writers at?

  • g says:

I’m with hahahaha. I want an awesome plot as well as soundtrack. the better disney movies are known for them and I’ll be completely disappointed if disney does this half-$$$ and doesn’t deliver.

  • machelle says:

the song is nice, can’t wait for the movie. and i also want to note that it was very nice seeing princess tiana for the 1st time at the magic kingdom, orlando. i took the kids there for halloween and she drew a huge crowd with her show. it was set on the steamboat with a new orleans like celebration. and it was also very nice to see her new items in the front of one of the stores at downtown disney. finally!
