50 CENT’S SONG BABY BY ME INSPIRED BY A REAL LIFE SITUATION
Rapper 50 Cent says that the lyrics to his latest song, Baby By Me, is inspired by a real life situation, namely the demise of his relationship with the mother of his twelve-year-old son Marquise.
“When I wrote Baby By Me, I thought, in general, if the relationship doesn’t go right I literally will pay a million dollars before the child is twenty-one. So that line made sense to say, based on the financial space I’ve achieved.”
Though the lyrics to his song promise, “Have a baby by me, be a millionaire”, 50 says that in real life, he has spent “way more” than a million on his son. And until a year ago, 50’s child support payments were not made official by the courts.
“I filed for me to [give] child support. I filed in family court so I could go and they could tell me how much child support to pay, so my son’s mom would have a better understanding of what she’s entitled to. Because she had a sense of entitlement that couldn’t be met based on her being around me. And I’ve known her for about fourteen years. But there’s a point where you can know someone for a long time, and then they wake up someone new.

50 did the right thing taking her to court. I’ve known Shaniqua for years, havent seen her in a while, and I see she havent changed one bit. She’s still loud, lazy, and ignorant as hell. My sister is still in contact with her but I can’t talk or be around Shaniqua without shaking my head a few times.
It didnt shock me at all when she said the $20,000 a month, the house, and the cars he was giving her wasnt enough. Keep in mind, this man was not ordered to pay her support. He was giving that money to her for his son without any courts involved. She took her child support money and blew it on designer clothes. Shaniqua is very materialistic and for some reason, thinks that 50 should provide for her and her oldest child (a daughter) from another man, even though she’s with another man now.
Curtis is no angel either, he did his dirt in that relationship but that man loves his child. It’s just a shame when you see a man taking care of his child and the mother is ungrateful. Especially when there are mother’s out here fighting for some help in court, they really need the help and the fathers arent trying to help them at all. Here you have Shaniqua, who’s childs father was throwing money at her and she says its not enough smh

I get your point; but why should she be grateful that he is doing what he is supposed to do. It’s his child, he is supposed to provide for him. He doesn’t deserve a standing ovation for doing what he is supposed to do as a father.

Khrish, I thought I made myself clear with my first comment, guess not lol. I explained the kind of person she is and said there are women out here struggling to make ends meet. The fathers arent doing anything for them but giving them a check and calling it the day.
They were NEVER married so legally he’s not “supposed” to do anything but pay her child support and be a father to his child. Instead he bought her a house, bought her cars, took care of her, AND took care of her child from a previous relationship. Should she be grateful? Yes

I’m sorry. I obviously mis-read. I thought that you were saying she should be grateful that he supports his son. I apologize for mis-reading your post. However, If she is as smart as Anna Gordy or has a savvy attorney, she will sue for invasion of privacy if this album/song bases on his relationship with her. If she’s been with him for 14 years, he must have felt she was doing something right, don’t you think? Is this the same woman that he showcases in his film “Get Rich or Die Trying”? From what you have written about her above, they were a perfect match. Forgive me if I see this man as still a “thug”.
Khrish, he was not with her for 14 years. They were young, very young and she was just a girl in the hood that he was seeing, slept with and got her pregnant a few months after they met. It wasnt the long steady relationship that she TRIED to lie about in court to get palimony. They were fighting like cats and dogs when she was pregnant and broke up soon after Marquise was born. 50 (feels weird calling him 50, know him as BooBoo) tried to make it work because he grew without a mother or a father.
If anyone should be suing, it should be him. SHE started this mess. Her yelling in the parking lot at the courthouse in front of TV reporters and talking trash in front of her child. Bringing her new boyfriend and his friends there to fight him because he wouldnt let them shack up in that house he bought and live off his sons child support money.
She even threatened to call the police on him when he showed up to see his sons basketball games and refused to let him know where his son was because she couldnt get her way.
And don’t get me started on her mother. He mother is/was worse.
He refused to say anything bad about her when people tried to get him to talk about it. Now he’s talking about it and he should. He can’t let her make him look like a horrible father and not respond to that.
As far as you thinking he’s a thug, BooBoo is a business man. I know some REAL thugs and none of them know how to write books, invest money, direct movies, and start businesses like what he’s doing LOL!! It’s an image. The movie was not accurate at all. Nothing in Hollywood is.
Boo did a whole lot of dirt in streets back in his day. Karma came back and bit him in the butt with the baby mama from hell.
Now let me stop typing before I give out too much info and get busted. I could go on and on with this story and my sister would be pissed if she found out.
I just feel sorry for Marquise. Quise is a great kid and it sucks that he’s stuck in the middle of this crap.
Thanks for the insight, but I am not only going on film. When he speaks to the press and his actions, publicly sterotype his as acting thuggish. I know he was on one episode of America’s Next Top Model and his actions were deplorable. Even the model entrants were told to stay away from him. I couldn’t understand why they had him there in the first place. I’m certain he probably is a smart businessman, given his drug dealings without being killed; he has to have some smarts. He, though, to me, appears and speaks as a thug. The press can say many things and movies can portray many characters, but when you are on screen/press conferences, you are the one presenting yourself. But that’s just the impression he has put forth to me. Again, thanks for the insight.
@Tasha…Thanks for your insight….How is the relationship between Curtis and Marquise nowadays? Are they still close? I truly hope so. As far as Shaniqua…I don’t feel sorry for her at all. Some people just don’t know when they had it so good. Some people are just plain stupid.
DetroitCaliGirl, the relationship between BooBoo and Quise will never be the same as long as she’s talking trash in front of her child. When I moved, I stopped calling her. My sister talk to her all the time and from what I’ve heard, Boo’s relationship with Quise is not like it was before. I’m sure it will get better. Shaniqua calmed down, not talking trash as much as she used to. I guess that’s because she got her feelings hurt in court. Walking in there demanding thousands of dollars thinking she’s Kimora Lee or somebody. You’re a babymama, Kimora had a RING on it.
And I bet BooBoo is lying to people. Probably saying everything is great between him and Quise when it’s not. Thats how Boo is. He’ll smile, play it off and lie in a heartbeat. I saw an interview he did online a few months ago and shook my head like ‘that boy still full of sh@t.’ lol but I love him to pieces and wish his crazy behind the best with his businesses.

50 makes it sound like it’s something he really wishes he didn’t have to do, instead of taking the Russel Simmons approach and saying “I don’t mind spending the money b/c I love my kids, I want them to be happy, I want to make sure they never want for anything, etc”.
And as far as the whole ex thinking she is entitled, he should have went to court to settle things from the beginning.

I watched them shoot this video in downtown LA. Everyone looked like they were happy. 50 Cent is friends with Harrold Perrineau from OZ. He was there and the light skinned baby in the end with Kelly Roland and that guy is Harrolds baby.

As far as the song is concerned I prob won’t be listening, since not a rap fan. I must say however, the promo pic caught my eye. How nice is it to finally see a happy, smiling brown family portrayed in today’s rap/ hip hop videos? Maybe some young people who seldom see this type of image will be encouraged that it is possible. Now as for the song title “Baby By Me” ,that’s a whole other topic…

Wow. If all that drama is the truth, especially the part about the boy’s mother being a hookworm in human form, then I think 50 should seek full custody.

I met 50 and I must say he was the sweetest person ever. I felt so sorry for him every time Shaniqua acted stupid in front of cameras and stuff. And when she took Marquise to court(to a date she knew 50 wouldn’t be there, so he couldn’t see him) it broke my heart.
From private pics of Mia and Marquise on the Internet it looked like she might have moved to the hood or something after the house burned down. Bad move for the kids.

I would luv to be a fly on the wall in some of these know it all houses. They read and hear all this crap in the media and fall for it. If some of ya r that stupid, I know u believe all the lies the media tell u about the President/family. I dont know anything personally about 50. What I see is that he seems to be a devoted and loving father. He also makes beautiful children as does most not so attractive guys. Not saying he is ugly at all, just not a pretty boy, he is the kind I liked when I was a younger,lol. Little rough around the edges but know what he wants in life and gets it.
