A MERRY MADAGASCAR WITH CHRIS ROCK
On Tueday(today), November 17th at 8 PM ET on NBC, comedian Chris Rock will be featured in an animated holiday special called “Merry Madagascar”. Rock recently held a press conference to talk about his new television special and how his daughters Lola,7, and Zahara,5, feel about the Madagascar films.
On how his kids feel about the Madagascar series:
“Oh the youngest one was probably too young but the oldest one loved it. And they loved number two and they’re looking forward to this one. I haven’t let them watch it even though I got a little advanced screening tape. So they’ll watch it on TV like everybody else.”
On whether or not his kids influenced him to do Madagascar the movie:
“It’s weird, I started the first Madagascar, me and Ben, start the first Madagascar with no kids. You know, we didn’t have kids when the movie started. And I don’t even think we were even thinking about kids to tell you the truth the couple times we were in the studio together. You know, cut to the movie comes out we both have kids, cut to movie, you know, Madagascar 2, he’s got three and I’ve got two or what ever, you know, it just turns out that way.”
On whether or not his kids recognize his voice as Marty the Zebra:
“ They totally recognize my voice. And sometimes they don’t then I, you know, it’s because it’s not really like my actual speaking voice so I kind of turn it on and just the looks on their face it’s like wow I can’t believe it’s…”
“They get very excited. And my youngest daughter, Zahra, it’s a bragger. She’s very quick to tell people her daddy as Marty the zebra.”
Chris Rock, his wife, and their younger daughter are pictured at the Madagascar 2 premiere last year.

How cute. I am glad to see Chris with his lovely wife. I remember when his movie–I Love My Wife came out and I heard a lot about marital issues and rumors about him and co-star Kerry Washington–never could make heads or tail on what was the real deal.At any rate, the Madagascar movies are a cute franchise and good to see he got in on it as is turning out to be a good cash cow for him like Shrek was for Eddie. Nice to spread that portfolio around.

I do love Chris Rock. I am so happy to see pictures of his family again. It’s still so hard to believe that he is married as I always think of him as being so young.

His wife, Malaak, looks like a tan version of actress Emmy Rossum.

I wonder what Maalak thought of his movie,Good Hair? I would be a bit self-concious with a head full of weave married to him. He said he mad the movie for his girls, but they will take a better cue from their mother. If he accepts her natural hair, they are more likely to as well.

It’s called a change up in style. Just because she sports a weave doesn’t necessarily mean she has an issue with her hair.

I saw the film as a documentary on what we do to our hair and why some of us do it. Plus a way of letting us know how much money is spent by us as the consumers and not the owners. It certainly would be a lucrative field for Black folk. We should be keeping this money in the community.
