LALA AND KIYAN
Television host Lala Vazquez and her son Kiyan Anthony watched the Denver Nuggets play against the Chicago Bulls on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009. Kiyan’s dad, Carmelo Anthony, led the Denver Nuggets in a 112-93 victory.
Last week, Kiyan and his dad went to the zoo. Click here to see pictures from his zoo trip.

Kiyan is cute but I thought Carmelo and Lala said they weren’t black ? Isn’t this bck?
Who is actually Black? lol The point is, they are of African descent and this site showcases children of African descent or children of Carmelo. BTW Carmelo is half Puerto Rican and half african american. Unitl recently, people didn’t know he was Puerto Rican. BCK had an article. You can do a search on this site and type in Carmelo or something.
JUST FYI LACY
African Americans do not have a monopoly on blackness. There are racially black people all over the world including Latin America and the Caribbean. I have never hear Lala and Carmelo say that they were not black, rather they stated their Puerto Rican heritage. Lala is obviously of African descent. I, myself am 100% Puerto Rican and proud of it, but I do consider myself to be racially black. Stating one’s Puerto Rican or Latino heritage doesn’t negate one’s race. Race, ethnicity, and nationality are not the same thing.
@ Blaise
Personally, I don’t know what Lala and Carmelo did or didn’t say regarding the original poster’s comments, but your assessment on race, ethnicity and nationality is correct.
Kiyan is so adorable. What a cutie!
They both look beautiful! Look at his blankey…happy and cute!
Awwwww! So, so sweet. Kiyan is such a doll (maybe I shouldn’t say that for a boy). He is just the cutest kid EVER. Lala looks great, and Melo, what can I say? The brother is FIONE!
kiyan is so cute. i think carmelo is half puerto rican and half black. so he not black. but he has black in him.
There are black PR’s so he’s still classified as black (according to his own mouth).
blaise’s message explained it.
awwwwww the handsome Lil Man !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lacy you are correct! Both La La and Carmelo who are obviously black but can speak spanish deny their blackness. This matters to me. I’m so sick of these other Black folks who act as if its irrelevant until it blows up in their faces. When you start feeling we go unaccounted for and people are taking credit for the things we’ve done and accomplished and trivialize it matters. Black folks are the only race that gives a pass for this kind of mess others call the self haters out. Yes, the Black dispora isn’t exclusive to the U.S which is Lacy’s point. The problem is the “others” want to be anything BUT Black until they get their asses in a bind and the Whites aren’t checking for them or reminding them of their Blackness. Again if this is a site for Black Celeb kids why give press to those who deny their blackness? even if they are the only ones who believe they aren’t black.
Raquel, I’m a huge fan of Melo’s, and he has never denied his blackness. As a matter of fact, he was surprised people even knew the other side of his racial identity (the PR side). He embraces his father’s side, but never has he denied that he was a black man. As a matter of fact, his father (from pics I’ve seen), was a black PR.
If you’ve heard otherwise, please correct me.
Lala is a different story.
