NAS ORDERED TO PAY UP
A judge has ordered rapper Nas a.k.a Nasir Jones to pay his soon-to-be ex-wife, Kelis, and their four-and-a-half-month old son a sum of $51,101 a month. The ruling comes after both Nas and Kelis gave detailed testimony about their finances on Wednesday(December 9th).
Though $51,101($40454 in spousal support and $10647 in child support) may seem like a large sum, Nas’ attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, said on Wednesday that the rapper benefits from the changes because he will no longer have to pay an additional $13,000 a month for the estrange couple’s Los Angeles home.

I didn’t know Nas had it like that financially. I am not hearing much of his music making a splash these days. Maybe he managed his money well when he did “blow up” initially and has other business endeavors ala “Diddy” and Jay-Z.
That still seems like a lot of money. $51K is what the average person hopes to makes in a year.
Rarified world, rarified world indeed. Also, the spousal support?–why so much for such a short lived marriage–and for someone who had/has her own career? I can somewhat understand the child support part. I am not a lawyer so maybe this is all “fair” in the end?…

He was probably smart and invested his money and she was smart and knew it. I happy for her. Since most of us don’t live the lifestyle of these people, what seems like a lot to many of us is merely equitable for them.

I TOTALLY agree! She was probably plotting to get married, drop a baby, and collect a check eventually because she knew it wouldn’t last. It’s obvious considering she saw first hand that he’s a deadbeat with his first daughter- she accompanied him to his court dates with his other “baby mama” for goodness sakes! SMH

uhh, huh–agreed! I like Kellis–so hopefully she is as smart as she is attractive/talented. I hope NAS is able to make out ok too.Too bad they couldn’t work it out as I thought they made a cute couple. The payments seem large but we don’t really know how much of a fortune the guys amassed.

Wow that is alot however he has to be able to aford it for the judge to order him to pay it! I wish them the best and wish things could of worked out with them. I love to see true black love. They got married in 2005 which means they were only married for 4 years and if I’m not mistaken I believe you only have to pay spousal support for half the time of your marriage or up until that person gets remarried which ever comes first. So I think he will only have to pay spousal support for 2 years I could be wrong!

That’s a lot for you and me, but let’s look at it this way. That’s a little over $600,000 a year, and I’m sure with tours, royaltys, etc. He makes and this is a VERY low estimate at least 2 million a year so he won’t starve ya’ll… I promise!!

Considering his net worth is well over 50 million that is not a lot of money. Plus, she is the mother of his son and was once his wife. I say he should pay up and help her with the upbringing of his son. Although, if she remarries there is a good chance spousal support will end and all he has to pay is child support. So, in the meantime and between time it seems fine – P. Diddy pays that much for several children a piece so I think NAS should be blessed he only has to deal with one large sum a month.
