Here is a summation of the reality show courtesy of A&E :

“Behind the headlines lies a captivating family, whose lives have been unwillingly played out before cameras for decades. After 40 years in the business together, Jackie, Jermaine, Tito and Marlon have sold more than 250 million albums worldwide. Now, the brothers allow unprecedented access into their world as they record new material and rehearse for a concert celebrating the 40th anniversary of The Jackson Five. The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty will chronicle the brothers’ relationships with each other, their parents and their children, while also balancing the demands of their professional commitments and celebrity.”

I wish Jermaine and the rest of the Jackson family would just go away, they haven’t done anything but milk Michael Jackson’s death. I think the way some of them especially Joe Jackson have behaved has been down right triflin

This reality show was planned long before Michael passed away. Should they cease to exist because apparently everything they do from this point on will be considered as “milking Michael’s death”?

I watched the first hour of the show last night but then had to go to the Christmas Special with Oprah and the First family. Does anyone know what happened on the second hour. Can you fill me in?

Talk about all the media and magazine that diss micheal when he was alive. When he died they all jump on his death like rice. The Jackson family shouldn’t have to go hid some where because of a death. They are celebrities in their own righ.

I will be checking this out. Jackie, Jermaine, Tito and Marlon were on Larry King Live the other night and I can’t wait to see the show. I am sick of the “reality” show phenomenon, but there’s no tomfoolery going on here from the clips that were shown.

No one Jackson member or most of the entire roster of past, present or future celeb is likely to eclipse the greatness that was MJ.

That said, the Jackson Five as an entity in its own right is something to celebrate in terms of a 40th anniversary. Yes, MJ was the star of the group, but the brothers were all talented AND handsome and contributed in making musical history in their own right. I still love the Jackson Five’s old ditties and intend to pop in their classic Christmas CD to spin for the holidays.

I won’t be watching the show, but I hope it is done tastefully and doesn’t have much of the exploitive ring to it like so many other reality shows out here.

      Hi GTSA,

I definitely agree with you and that was a point the brothers were making when they were asked if they were ever jealous of Michael and basically they were like the J5 was the foundation and that they were so very proud of their brother. This was in the making before his death but some of the later episodes (I assuming because there are only 5) will incorporate a bit about his death.

I agree with that. There are some too young to really remember the ground breaking emergence of the JACKSON 5 and so they can only appreciate MJ as a single act. But you are telling the truth. It used to be THE JACKSON FIVE and they were a fiercely hot ticket. I don’t really think that the children are trying to ride on the coat tail of MJ’s children. They are relatives and some of them live together. Hopefully, that will always tie them together as a family. To me, family is fiercely important.

I wanted to add that I won’t be watching the show, not because I don’t think it will be interesting to see what the remaining Jackson 5 have been up to and are doing currently.

Not a big cable watcher, on the internet for my media mostly, but who knows I may have someone record it or look up snippets on youtube down the line. I did check out the website and what I saw looked pretty good.

I am looking forward to seeing what the 4 brothers lives are like. I think the show will be quite interesting. I am sure Michael Jackson would have given them his blessing to keep moving on with their careers. Regardless of what families go through they still love each other and want the best for each other. I think the 4 brothers tried to rise to the forefront long before the tragedy but what their brother ( Michael ) was going through over shadowed their success at times. So, I am sure he is looking down on them and wishing them well. They are not to blame for having successful careers or not. The music industry is not the way it used to be and older artist have a tougher time with those changes. And, Jackie, Jermaine, Tito and Marlon are still learning to adapt to those changes. It is tough. Because, new artist have to talk and showboat themselves to stardom whereas before your talent was all it took. Now you must have a desired image or you will not succeed. So, I send the brothers my support and many blessings.

Just be nice. Pretend that they are Halle Berry and her daughter and say nice things. No one in the Jackson family would want to replace Michael–that is a dumb statement. They are an entertainment dynasty–not just Michael. This show was in the works before Michael died.

The Jacksons are a beautiful Black family. I do not intend or want them to crawl away just because Michael is in Heaven. Michael’s childrens’ cousins are that cousins, I’d hope and pray that they are close.

The posters on this Website should be more responsible in their responses. I expect better; otherwise, this site is helping to kill another generation of Jacksons and I am sure that that is not this site’s intention.

Well, I know the reality show will be distasteful and I hope it is off shortly after it comes on, but it probably won’t be….The Jacksons epecially Jermaine and Joe Jackson live their lives like their on a reality show. Jermaine sleeping, having kids with and marrying his brothers girlfriend/mistress/wife or what ever she is. Dumping her for the woman he was cheating on her with. Joe Jackson having a secret love child. It is a mess, they are a mess. I bet Michael Jackson is turning over in his grave for all of the mess that has went on since his death. The Jacksons would have faded a long tiem ago if it wasn’t for Michael Jackson.

I beg to disagree with you on that point. There are cartoons, lunch boxes and lots of collectibles that concern The Jackson Five. I think maybe the younger you are the less you know about the popularity of the Jackson 5. I agree that Michael went on to make even more history; but it all started with 5 little guys and their father. Even when they play the flashbacks, the Jackson 5 is always there. I don’t think they will ever be forgotten.

I really liked the reality show featuring the brothers. I like the way Jackie, Marlon and Tito presented themselves. I wondered where Randy was.

It seems that Jermaine is as egocentric as some people think he is. Marlon is sexy and Tito seems a lot like Joe.

Thanks for the update on the show. Marlon has seemed the most well spoken one of the brothers. I won’t soon forget his words at the public memoriam about his brother, so sincere and heartfelt.

I was listening to Give Love on Christmas Day from their Christmas album all those years ago. I was a little young to witness first hand the phenomona the Jackson 5 were at the height of their fame, but I am glad their music lives on, many younger generations DO know of them and the MJ pre-Off the Wall and Thriller.
I do hope the show brings in good ratings. I don’t see it as blatantly opportunistic thing at all, but a celebration of their lives and a sharing with their fans. If they make money and gain more exposure great–as long as they don’t exploit MJs legacy in doing so–fine by me and I do hope the older generations will keep the Jackson 5s legacy and music alive.

@GTSA…so far th show is pretty high grade. I hope it doesn’t decline. And like you, I love playing the Jackson 5 Christmas songs.
I loved them pre-Michael going solo, too.

If you get a chance, I hope you can watch the show. Take care.

I watched the first part of the show and thought it was quite interesting. It was good to see all the other brothers along with Jermaine. Marlon is still very handsome. I enjoyed seeing Tito with his boys. Those guys are just too handsome. I wasn’t aware that they all had those big homes, except for Tito. I thought that Marlon was at the Family home. Guess I was wrong.

Khrish,HAPPY HOLIDAYS and MERRY XMAS! I only watched the first few minutes of the Jacksons last night, too, because this time around I could not stand watching Jermaine for too long.

You and I were on the same page while watching..I said wow, nice homes. But…if Michael was renting a home they could be too or getting a place to live was part of the deal they signed to to the show.

It had been previously reported that Randy and Marlon were respectively working odd jobs at a car repair shop and stocking merchandise at a store to make ends meet. This was reported in mainstream news (CNN) not the tabloids. I’m going to google for more info on this at reliable sources. Will get back to you on this one.

Talk to you again soon! Once again..enjoy the holiday season! I am very much!

That’s what I had seen on mainstream news as well. I’m not too familiar with how these reality shows work. I know I read that those women on that Atlanta Housewives thing were all in rented homes for the show. Maybe it’s not reality after all. But I did love seeing Marlon and the others that seem so down to earth. I didn’t see it last night because they had the show from the White House and the Obamas will win out with me every time. LOL……Hope you have the greatest of holidays. We had snow here and it was a winter wonderland. Stay safe.

Hi Lady Troublesome. I’m glad you liked it to and I agree with you. The Jackson family is proving to be prolific in siring male offspring. Their family line should go on for eternity. (smile).

Which brother is holding up best physically best to you?

I grew up listening and watching the Jackson’s and no matter what the media says about Joe jackson, he built the dynasty out of talented kids who were never in trouble growing up due to performing as a family. It is very hard these days to raise kids and many kids are too busy with games to do anything as a family. Michael was always different and made it bigger than his siblings, but still, their start was as a group and the group was great. Even if there was problems later, they are still a family. I hope the show does well and that instead of comments on ‘milking Micheal” we can give our sympathies to the family for I can imagine Micheal is missed more by his family than his fans.
