First of all, I luv Mercy’s coat, gloves and hat…the outfit is too cute. But most importantly, I luv the fact that Mercy’s doll baby is black. So props to momma Madonna.

My thoughts exactly about the black doll and Mercy is just the cutest thing ever with her coat, scarf and hat.

If anyone on this site purchases a $98 hat & $130 scarf for a young child that will lose it before winter is over, something is wrong with you. LOL

I LOVE that Mercy’s doll is black! And her outfit is just adorable. Good job, Madonna.
I also loved the story about Madonna sending gifts and throwing a Christmas party (with a Santa) for Mercy’s friends at her former orphanage. All the gifts had a note to the children saying they were “From Mercy” and the children were happy to finally have a gift of their own. Madonna has also done that at David’s former orphanage and sent them clothes and gifts “From David” in the past. I really hope her children continue to learn to give back and hopefully take over for her once she’s no longer able.

This is a nice story and picture. Sometimes I just wonder what big sister Lourdes thinks about the whole thing? She is maturing into a beautiful young lady.
I wonder what the kids will think when they can look back at old photos of Mom wearing her pointed bra on stage and sprawled out over a bed simulating S&M sex with a bunch of trannies and half naked boy toys gyrating around her?
Well I guess we all gotta make a living some way. In this case, with all the good that Madonna is doing for her kids, the end justifies the means.
I mean, Michael Jackson used to grab his crotch during his act, but Madonna took it so much further than that. We just give her a pass, I guess even though her act is far from rated “G”.

Well, that’s her stage persona, it’s her art form and means of expression in the artistic arena regardless of whether we agree with it or not. There are many other women and men in the limelight who have done the same or worse, but I can’t judge them or label them as bad parents for their “art” on stage. I will assume she has and will continue to explain whatever she does or has done to her children. In the end, those are the only people she owes any explanations or justifications to.
I’ve never seen her doing inappropriate things when she’s out with her children or heard of stories of her doing anything awful or irresponsible to her children. I’ve only heard great stories about her parenting so far and I hope that continues. You can separate the artist from the parent. I think the older she gets, the more she will probably get into her humanitarian work and probably involve herself less in the artistic arena so openly. Her involvement in her humanitarian work will be good for her children too, in my opinion, as they come of age and I hope join or take over their mother’s work in Africa, the US, and South America (and whatever other places she might also involve herself in).

what a beautiful girl that Mercy is! Props to Madonna for being one of the few celebs to think of Africa. Saddens me to think how the meddling media gave her such a hard time when she was trying to adopt David and Mercy….it says a lot about her heart and spirit that she didnt give up!!!

Baruch Hashem Madonna! God bless your heart!

Agree…I love that she thinks of Africa, too. The end does justify the means in Madonna’s case.

I’m just making an observation, no judgment…with two divorces and not being married to her oldest child’s Daddy, and men in between like Dennis Rodman, Jose Conseco, and a lesbian relationship with Sandra Bernhardt, Madonna has been less than “pristine” as a role model for anyone in her personal life choices, in my opinion.
Not to mention her controversial coffee table book with nude and lewd sensational pictures.
All of her shock value reinvention of herself throughout the decades of her entertainment career has brought her a lot of fame wealth, and yes, some criticism. I think she will go down in history as one of the most popular entertainers in history just like Michael Jackson and Marilyn Monroe, and deservedly so.
I’m just pointing out that in my opinion, she gets a pass for behaviors that lesser public figures have been crucified by the public and media for, and it will be part of her legacy also in addition to adopting some kids from Africa.
And all of it captured in videos, interviews publications and on the Internet for the future edification of her children and generations to come.
But right on to her for softening her image in her middle years and God Bless her, too. This is not a put down or a judgment of Madonna, again just a statement of past facts of her life and career.

Well, to point out such things out, especially in a post about her children, is to make a judgment, whether inadvertent or not. I get where you’re coming from, but I would say she definitely did not get a pass and still doesn’t. In fact, her career was nearly ruined and she got lots of backlash, especially in the early 90s for things that most big stars get away with any day of the week now, but were considered ground-breaking then. It wasn’t until the Evita era years when her daughter was born that the press and public started easing off, until something else happened and everyone got riled up again. She gets a lot of flack for pretty much anything she does because of her reputation as a provocateur and for being outspoken and challenging convention. It all comes with the territory.
As for who she has dated in her youth and her not being married now, being grounds for her lacking as a role model. We’re all flawed- we’re human. There is more to being a role model than one’s dating choices as a youth or a failed partnership. Her independence, strength of will, perseverance, intelligence, open-mindedness, work ethic, survival skills, and her dedication to charity throughout her career are all positive qualities she can pass on to her children. Here’s to hoping she is, and we are as well, passing on good qualities to children rather than the bad.
Is her dating situation unique and why should she we judge her more so for that than others? What I find curious is that any male rocker or male rapper has probably had more affairs in a year than she has had in her lifetime, but they are not attacked for that, it’s almost encouraged actually. How many men are posted about here that have multiple baby mamas and how many of them actually see their many kids every day or even bother paying child support? How many actors have romantic scenes and nudity with partners they are not married to in their movies? How many males sing about denigrating, hitting, and abusing women and others and treating them like objects, which could encourage and influence our youth, especially children of color? Even comparing her to other women, there are actors and singers who have done nudity or provocative performances. How do we know she is an inferior parent or role model than any of these other people, and are we making these comments in their posts?
Going back to Madonna, perhaps she has mellowed out as she has gotten older and will maybe focus even more on her charity work as she takes steps away from her public musical career. In end, the only people she really has to answer to and explain things to are her children. Maybe she isn’t ashamed, maybe her children understand or will understand, I really don’t know, but well, all I care about is that she’s focusing on the less fortunate and her children seemed to be doing and maturing well.

@Emma, thank you and I love all of your comments..very thought provoking and civilized. I enjoyed our exchange. I think we are both in agreement that Madonna is another superstar that will never be forgotten for her talent and charisma as an accomplished consummate entertainer, among many of her other deeds on this Earth.
If she ever performs again in Vegas in this lifetime, I won’t miss seeing her. Again thank you so much for the thought provoking exchange of words.
You and I are not sparring, we see eye to eye about Ms. M.

What difference does the color of the doll makes when her mother is still white? jeez.

i never comprehended the concept behind madonna and angelina jolie’s adoption of children from africa. are they trying to teach their children how to interact with a race of color or black? is that so difficult to do in america that they had to go to another country to do that?
