DJIMON, KENZO AND KIMORA COVER EBONY MAGAZINE
Kimora & Djimon are opening up about their family and marriage in the latest issue of Ebony magazine. Here is a snippet of the interview:
For high-profile duo beauty maven Kimora Lee Simmons and actor Djimon Hounsou, the term “marriage” is not defined by an official license. The two, who sealed their relationship during a “commitment ceremony” in front of Simmons’ daughters, Ming and Aoki Lee, while in Benin, Africa, said they are married.
Armed with their new baby boy, Kenzo Lee, the two say they feel very fortunate. In fact, Simmons says her ex-husband and father of her two daughters, Russell Simmons, is actively involved in her bicoastal life. “I feel like my life has fallen into the right place in a great way,” she said. “I’ve been very slow and deliberate, and I feel like it has paid off for me in ways that I could not have imagined.” (p. 68 in Ebony Magazine February issue)

Russell does not pay Kimora spousal support of any kind. Kimora has her own money, and though Russell came up with the idea of having a woman’s line, she was the one that grew it from that T-Shirt into what it is today. I don’t know where some posters have been but babyphat sells even more now, than before. Not to mention that Americans as a whole are a very indulgent society so lots of us spend even when we don’t have it, LoL! People also say Kimora is just about money, but if she was just about money, she could’ve stayed with Russell, and been unhappy in her marriage, all the while shopping away.

F.Y.I. Russell no longer even runs Phat Farm. Kimora does as well as Baby Phat(which Russell never ran). They are two people that realized that they where better friends then a couple who also happen to run a multi-lined company. It’s not like she did what alot of other women do when they marry or have a baby by a man who has a little pocket change and look to see what they can get. She came into their relationship with a “JOB” which means she had bank coming in already. She also learned from him and use that information to better herself in the business world. She was and still is self suffecient. Hence why when they got divorce it was never talk about her asking the court to have him pay for her everyday living. That really bothers me when women do that(no all, but the ones that take it too far) Futher more if anything, the reason might be because they live in C.A (and their other locations) and if she did marry Djimon he would be entile to “Half” (think Jessica and Nick since no pre-nup and he was making money when they got married and she made money while married , she had to fork it over . .. just an example). So to the “Misinformed” and “Assumers” who take infor at face value vs fact checking word of advice… (Remember you don’t have to take it)Before you open you mouth(or type messages) Make sure you know what you are talking about. Check your sources and make sure your facts are just that facts. Like in school you had to read the book before doing a book report.
On that Note . . . it’s 2010 … why not focus on the good of someone rather then look at and pick and assume their flaws. . because no one is perfect nor can one judge another’s life path. Instead of looking at their wrong doing use that time to better yourself and make your life what you want it to be. Be Pro-active vs Re-active.

I thought Kenzo looked young on that picture. He is about the same age as my girls, maybe a month younger. Oh wait, I went and checked he was born May 30th so a week difference. Yeah he’s not looking 7 months at all. Pretty photo though.

Why would Kimora need spousal support she has her own fashion line?

Also, K is about $. I think she wont marry Djimon bc if she does then her payments from Russ will stop. In many millionaire divorces, remarriage ends payments.
Im surprised that Djimon is okay with this. K loves him, wants to be called his wife, but not legally his wife so she may still receive payments from ex? Very uncool to me.

But Kimora has her own money. Remember she helped Simmons with that business and then pulled in her line. She also made big bucks all those years as a model and she started that at a very young age. I don’t really believe this has anything to do with spousal support. Mr. has made some pretty good movie dollars himself plus he was working even before the film. I don’t see Kimora as a golddigger who would give up a marriage to keep some money. That just doesn’t sound like Kimora.
So what if her neck is airbrushed im pretty sure there are sometimes you wish you could be airbrushed! this is BCK BLACK CELEBRITY KIDS… i get so irritated when people always point out the obvious in a negative way… grow up ladies

Djimon is African and has an African myself I understand that an African wedding is the most important for us especially since Kimora had a baby with him.
Our family tend to only recognise you has someones wife or husband (and your children)if you have had the traditionally wedding(in your home country). It’s just part of our culture.
We believe that you must ‘HONOUR’ your parents, family, and community. You need these people ‘BLESSING’ in order for your marriage/children to be a success. And God say for us to obey and honour our parents.
Traditional weddings are done first, So maybe they will have a church/registry (US)wedding later.
If she officially gets married, then she’d lose that spousal support payment from Russell.
I can total concur with this comment. As long as they were not legally married in the US, the US will not recognize their union. However, now I begin to wonder about Djimon. How are you going to let your wife continue to be supported by ex. I have no problem with the child suppport. Russell should continue to pay the child support. I guess Djimon does not have a male pride or ego problem becuase I think most men would not want to see their wives continue to receive support from their ex no matter how much the payments are.
It does seem a bit strange. It’s not like he doesn’t have the money himself. There must be some other reason that we are all missing. Maybe it has nothing to do with money at all. As if we need to know. LOL I’m just nosy!
well, who knows if she even takes spousal support payments…I personally have never heard anything about- but then again-why would I?? (hint-hint) lol

Like I said before……she will lose out on the spousal support if she re-marries. She will still get child support which is still lots of money to us. But Kimora will not have that, she wants it all as you can tell.

Oh, and maybe it’s a finance/prenup/too much trouble to get government certified. I’m a Christian but before man-made marriage licenses were created folks made God-recognized commitments to each other. I think Christians tend to forget that that piece of paper is just THAT. Just I can have church in my house with just two other people, two people can get married without heading to a courthouse/church or whatever.
