Love the cake design! Very creative as well as timely and symbolic.
The fleur-de-lis can be a symbol to represent Justin being part of the Sean Combs dynasty, and it can be a symbol of unity for Haiti being that it’s a French emblem. Very smart and interesting representation on the birthday cake. Perfect for a maturing 16 year old.

Oh, after reading the caption under another photo from the party, I realized his Dad was crowning Justinthe Prince of New York City. I get the emblem thing on the cake, now, but I associate the fleur-de-lis symbol with Louisiana or French related stuff.

It beats Power Rangers but with his beautiful pricey new car, I would have thought he’d have cars as a theme. He is regal and obviously the apple of his Daddy’s eyes.

Ok, wow. Look at the celebs, the bling, that car–is that a BMW? Ok, I am gonna start hatin’ on a 16 yr old in a minute ..lol. But really, good for Justin. These are some nice pics from the party. The pic of the check for Haiti relief is the nicest one bar none though, very nice.

Diddy now, I know I am just about as old as you, but will you adopt me,–surely you can afford, I don’t eat much :-) .

What recession, no signs of recession in that house!!! A maybach for a 16 year old? Come on, does he even have his liscense yet!!!! You have it flaunt it but what will drive these kids to work hard if they are given such luxurious gifts at 16. Puffy worked his butt off to have what he has however for him it’s always about the flash because no child “deserves” or needs a gift that grand! And no I am not HATING, just a parent!

I find displays of wealth like this disgusting. I don’t believe in extravagant parties for a 16 year old. I also think P Diddy is extremely arrogant and unpleasant. I have met him a few times and have dealt with people who work for him.

I can afford to buy quite a few extravagant things for my children, but I don’t. There is no way I’d get a 16 year old a car.

There is nothing worse than being given any and everything you want.

    Flag this

    • KHRISH January 24, 2010 at 6:38 pm

Well he’s the father and he knows what he wants to do for his kids; but I agree with you that it is such a tacky display of wealth. The children will have nothing to work towards. It seems sometimes when people grow up with very little they work at giving their children all the luxurious things that dreamed about but couldn’t afford, but I do find this garrish. There used to be another word that Black folks used but I’ll pass on the use of that one.

      Flag this

    • Pisces January 24, 2010 at 7:16 pm

Alina, I see your point. Even Michael Jackson left directions not to give each of his kids one of his 3 Rolls Royce’s until they marry. Even if they never marry, they’ll be good and grown when they receive them.

    • gtsa January 24, 2010 at 7:14 pm

Diane, you know I thought of that, but didn’t want to say it…

It was still nice that they gave. Perhaps Diddy is planning on giving a bigger donation in his name on top of what is being given in his son’s name as displayed here.

Yes, I had to look up the car and a basic one is around $300 grand. That could buy a decent house in many parts of the country.

I read at a different site that the car came with a uniformed driver to take Justin wherever he wants to go. Justin is still working on getting his drivers license. The site goes on to say that that repairs for the luxury car are huge as well as insurance (of course).

My nephew informed me that some of these cars come with a chauffer as part of the package deal when you buy the car.

The article also said that Justin didn’t get any presents otherwise and that guests were asked to give donations to the relief effort in Haiti.

The whole thing was very grand in typical Diddy style. Well, you only live once, and you can’t take it with you! My philosophy is I don’t want to leave a bunch of money and material things behind that I didn’t use. Give people you love and care about the roses while they can smell them, because tomorrow is not promised to you or to them.

I think natural disasters like the one in Haiti remind us all of that.

Diddy is such a legendarily shrewd business man, that I wouldn’t be surprised if he negotiated with MTV to pick up most of the tab for the party in exchange for airing it on the Sweet Sixteen series.

Diddy already has a contract for his show on MTV already. I hope he did sign a sweet contract. Schooling Justin the art of the business deal would be a great rite of passage gift from Diddy. Sort of like what Donald Trump does for his offspring.

Pisces, I was thinking along those lines as well–I thought about Oprah and her now legendary gifts to her audience–the publicity alone pays for those nice gifts, sponsors, manufacturers & the like are practically willing to give away for the exposure and that “O” effect. She isn’t paying out of pocket for them even if she can personally afford them.

Yes, this is good publicity for MTV as well as endorsement and publicity for all the goods, the venue used AND that Maybach car manufacturer. I didn’t even know about this car and how ubre luxury it is until now…lol.

But it is still a bit over the top & flashy and I am sure he came out of pocket for a good chunk of this show–because at this juncture it is no longer just a party, even if part of the bill was footed by others…

GTSA.. are we psychic twins? I totally agree with everything you commented. And like you, I had never heard of this car before. Now I know. Diddy participated in the Haiti Now relief program the other night taking phone calls. I also researched a little and found out he has Haitian in his background so maybe he’s doing more that we don’t know about.

(Please don’t tell Khrish I told you, because she’ll be mad at me for outing Diddy as having Haitian roots (smile)!)

It’s so sad to read some of the comments here celebrating this nonsense. Diddy did it just for that reason. To make people talk about him and to make them envious of his supposed wealth. His whole goal is to outdo the parent of every other spoiled brat who’s been on that show to make himself feel important. I guarantee it’s all BS and that boy will not use that car. It’s all for show. Like what logical purpose is there to purchase a luxury, chaufeur(sp) driven car for a 16 year old. Where’s he going to go in it? Basketball practice? Please don’t be so gullible. This is like all of the rented houses and whips rappers and singers used to profile on Cribs. It’s all about a FAKE image.

I say supposed because it was proven several years ago that he, along with Master P, had greatly exaggerated their net worth and the value of their businesses. Sure he’s got money, just not as much as you think or he’d like you to think.

      Hey.
I do believe you make a good point on some levels…But instead of thinking its all about the FAKE image and Diddy just spoils his kids for publicity cant you just think he really wanted to give his sons a blow out bash because he had the money…?
Im not saying your ideas are false just try to have some postivity.

and about diddy giving justin a 300 grand car while people in Haiti could use that money for the simplist nessiciaties…
I think that is quite vain. But its funny because in this crisis everyone immediatly picking on the Combs family for not donating 300 grand. (even though 300 grand is more preforred). Instead of nit picking say wow this kid is giving 10,000 of birthday money (yes, it was justins donation not diddys because im sure he has given more) to Haiti. With all the money that family has he could be giving that car money to Haiti…BUT i dont see any of the people talking about him, giving 10,000 to the haiti fund. (if you have sorry for my assummtions).
Im just trying to stay postive(:

Wow! I can’t believe that someone would waste that much money on a barely 16yr old child. Whatever happen to giving your child something to strive for in life. I have no problem with loving your child, but spoilin them with expensive gifts that’s just ridiculous. He should have donated the price of the car to Haiti and gotten his son something cheaper to start off with,he doesn’t even have a drivers license for goodness sake.
Why do we always have the need to show off and do everything over the top.

Plz……tell me some of u arent serious? nice of him to donate only $10,000 to Haiti, but buy a 16yr old who cant drive a $360,000 car. You can take em out of the ghetto, but ya cant take the ghetto out of them. Name one white person with money that have bought their kid a car that expensive for their 16th birthday? u cant, because they arent that ignorant. Didnt see or hear anything about Donald Trump doing that for Ivanna’s sweet 16th, nor Prince William or Prince Harry and they make Puff’s money look like pennies. Why oh why r some black folks so ignorant and foolish? it isn’t cute at all, especially the $10,000 check to Haiti. A middle class person could and probaly have given that. A rich person getting into Heaven is like a camel getting through a needle. I am yet to hear Beyonce,Jay Z,Puffy, etc giving hundreds of thousands to Haiti or any poor country, even in America, so sad…..They sho luv materialistic stuff though and all u fools whom agree are just as foolish. Let me see if this agree with BLC comments.

While I agree with you that it is a garrish show of wealth; I’m sure that I wouldn’t use the measuring stick for Diddy with “white people”. I would rather use the example of Cosby by donating some of the money to something else in addition to Haiti. I feel certain, however, that this is not Diddy’s contribution to Haiti, but his son’s. I can’t tell anyone else how to spend their money but it does seem rather inane to give a teenager a car of this caliber. What is he thinking? Oh, and by the way Trump’s daughter is Ivanka, the wife is Ivanna. But let’s not forget the outrageous nursery that he had set up for his new baby; which was just as garrish as that car.

Bernie Ecclestone bought a £50 million pound house each for his two daughters and although they are not 16 that is a lot of money to spend on a house so white people can be just as extravagant. Anyway Justin’s mum has said she is looking for a downgrade for him and Maybach will remain in the garage, Justin will be alright because his mother has sense.

  • MY OPINION January 26, 2010 at 11:26 am

I AGREE WITH SOME ON THE AMOUNT AND STYLE WITH WHICH HE GAVE HIS SON THIS CAR. INSTEAD OF THESE CELEBRITIES GIVING SUCH EXTRAVAGANT GIFTS. TAKE YOUR CHILDREN TO THESE DEVASTATED PLACES AND DONATE TIME AND ENERGY THAT WAY. THIS WILL ENSURE THAT THEY UNDERSTAND THE LIFESTYLE THEY LIVE IS A BLESSING.SOMETIMES WHEN KIDS ARE PAMPERED TO MUCH, GIVEN TO MUCH, THEY DON’T TRULY UNDERSTAND THAT THEY ARE FORTUNATE TO LIVE THE LIVES THEY HAVE. A CAR WAS A GOOD GIFT, BUT HOW ABOUT A CAR THAT HE COULD ACTUALLY DRIVE TO SCHOOL AND FOOTBALL GAMES. THIS CAR IS FOR SHOW ONLY. I AM A 35 YEAR OLD ADULT AND I WOULD BE SCARED TO PULL THIS CAR OUT MY DRIVEWAY, THINKING I MIGHT GET A SCRATCH OR DUST ON IT. REMEMBER THE CHEAPEST PRESENTS KIDS GET ARE MORE APPRECIATED THAN THE MOST COSTLY ONES. THAT’S IN MY HOUSE ANYWAY. MY KIDS ARE MORE APT TO PLAY WITH AN EMPTY ROLL FOR PAPER-TOWELS, THAN THE SET OF DRUMS PURCHASED FOR CHRISTMAS. PARENTS PLEASE REALIZE THE COST IS NOT ALWAYS IMPORTANT, BUT JUST THE GIFT ITSELF OR THE THOUGHT BEHIND IT. JUST MY OPINION.

I really believe everything for the party was over the top for purposes of it being filmed for the MTV Sweet Sixteen Show. Remember? He had Quincy’s on that show too. The whole point of that show is to show how the wealthy spoil their kids rotten.

Diddy has a show already that has him contracted with MTV. He may have negotiated a sweet deal that had MTV paying for most of what was filmed at the party, if not all of it. It’s not like the party was filmed for free..it’s part of a series that’s being televised and it’s part of a business deal. Diddy had to sit down and talk with the people at MTV before it happened.

Hopefully Justin was part of the learning process in negotiating aspects of the party being filmed.

I hope he doesn’t get car jacked.
