TRINA WANTS TO ADOPT A CHILD FROM HAITI

trina

Rapper Trina is considering adopting a child from Haiti. The Miami native has released a statement via her publicist:

“With the current state that Haiti is in right now; I personally feel like donating monetary and physical possessions is a enormous and vast donation…however I would like to contribute on a higher level for more personal reasons in addition to being ready to raise/nurture a child; by being involved on a day to day bases.

The tragic and untimely list of events that have happen in Haiti even before the recent earthquake have made me realize how blessed I am as a individual and I want to share that with a child; that is a victim in this disturbing time; in addition to adding on to my immediate family circle.

I am in the financial position to adopt; therefore I am taking it into deep consideration at this time, I have always admired other individuals for adopting children not so much for their celebrity status but more so because of the ‘nurturing’ and invaluable change and joy it will bring to a child’s life.

Lastly the fact that I am considering adopting a child from, Haiti is even more significant to me seeing that a great deal of adopted children that come into the United States are from larger countries such as China, Russia and Africa [sic]. I also have family members that are of Haitian descent.” (Source) – Trina

I commend Trina for wanting to adopt, however I’m going to need for Trina to know that Africa is not a country, but a continent.

Noticeably, there is the phrase: [sic], which follows the word Africa. Thus, Trina via her publicist was well aware that Africa is a continent and not a country when she released this statement. I’m going to need for you to refresh you English and academic skills before you comment. That is all.

Uhmm, i didn’t know that’s what [sic] means. I thought [sic] means that is exactly what Trina said.

This is what [sic] reportedly means:Sic is a Latin word meaning “thus”, “so”, “as such”, or “in such a manner”. In writing, it is placed within the quoted material, in square brackets – or outside it, in regular parentheses – and usually italicized – [sic] – to indicate that an incorrect or unusual spelling, phrase, punctuation, and/or other preceding quoted material has been reproduced verbatim from the quoted original and is not a transcription error.

Hmm, so i think Trina really thinks Africa is a country, but no worries. Many people think Africa is a country.

the poster should have also cut and pasted the use of [sic] which states its usage is to identify or acknowledge an error…anyways, i am no english professor but the above statement is cut and pasted from wikipedia…just give a sister her props she has a publicist to put these statements out at least she is doing something with herself. stop being so critical!

Lol. Trina, ummmm…. She just doesn’t seem like the best role model. Her intentions are good, but… No, not Trina! Just send your money, hun. Lol.

I beg to differ . . . please remember that Trina the artist and Katrina the person are two different people . . . believe half of what you see and none of what you hear.

Sounds like she wanted some publicity, adopting a child is something that you do not something you talk about wanting to do without actually doing anything.

People have public personas, that does not mean that they cant be good role models or parents…Look at Angelina Jolie, she went from husband to husband, kissing girls and her brother, and now she is a wonderful mother with three adopted kids and three biologicals. So I dont think you should judge how a person will be as a parent. Parenthood has a way of transforming people.

How do we know she’s a wonderful mother? We only see her public persona. Just saying.

I guess I am late to the party–I don’t even know who she is, looking like Lala Vasquez in this pic.

I agree with you though. The Jolie example was fitting, you could have easily subsituted Madonna, but from what I can see, they seem to be loving moms–so who knows really what she is suited for.

Wow, do the dang thing Trina, those children need the help. And who are any of you to judge whether she should adopt a child or not, you don’t know her home life. I hope everything goes well for her so that she is able to adopt a child. Some of you on here need to stop judging I am sure your parenting skills are not where they should be. Haters.

I commend Trina on her decision to possibly adopt a child from Haiti. As the commenter, Nikki, stated above we don’t know Trina aside from her public persona. We should be uplifting her and happy that she wants to do something as significant as this. While I don’t think something of this magnitude warrants a public statement…in looking at the big picture its always good when people want to do something for other people.

aw. after all her mom is Haitian so I can see why she would. dont judge a book by its cover. we dont know what kind of mother she would make but this is very mature and a very big step. Florida is a great place to raise these adopted children

u might be right. from what i understand her mom is Haitian and dad Dominican. either way i thought that’s what gave her more reason but any good reason is a mature one for whoever is taking a step like this. i wish her the best and wish people on here wont judge her.

I call bull. Why release a statement saying you’re going to do something you are most likely not going to do. Want some publicity huh. Im willing to bet major dollas fast forward a year from now she won’t even have begun the adoption process. Shame the things people do for publicity.

Ok I have been a lurker on this site for quite sometime now but THIS one post cut my eye, and my finger just had to type something lol. Please Trina stay from the haiti kids, as a matter of fact all the kids. She’s a pretty woman and I’m sure she has the potential to be a great mom BUT its not for you sista, your head is not screwed on properly ok especially someone who is still having emotional break downs over lil wayne.

I just wanted to say Trina I support you 100%! You are a beautiful woman inside and out; I truly believe you will be a great mother and provide the nurishment a child requires. Haiti has had so many tragedies and in my opinion you adopting a child would be a blessing not only to the you and your family but a huge contribution to the Haitian-African American community. So go ahead and do your thang mami…God bless and brush them haters off!
