Five-year-old Daniel Julez (Juelz) Smith, the son of singer Solange Knowles, went onstage with musicians Rihanna and Jay Z after their hit “Run This Town” scored a Grammy win for Best Rap/Song Collaboration.

When singer Rihanna asked young Julez if he wanted to speak into the microphone, he replied emphatically, “No Thanks!” Click here to watch the cute moment with Julez.

Julez’ Aunty Beyonce was, of course, in attendance. She won a slew of awards. Meanwhile, Solange could not make it and tweeted the following:

“Gave away my Grammy ticket to eat Brazilian food and wear zebra leggings and a Biggie t-shirt.” She later added, “Rewinded Julez saying ‘no thank you’ fifty eleven times.”

This lil boy is so blessed. He goes everywhere with his famous family!! He is adorable!!

  • Deedra says:

He is such a cutie. That is one lucky little boy.

  • FashionedByGod33 says:

Little man with his bow tie. How cute!! He resembles his grandmother so much.

*sidenote* Rihanna’s dress is pretty. The drapey part is really gorgeous. Personally, I still cannot get into this “trend” with the breasts revealed like that. It really cheapens a look to me. JMO.

  • Shanice says:

Julez stole their moment. Lol. He’s lucky. He was there front and center when his aunt made history.

  • Kishakisha says:

Solange is doing such a good job…
her son is soooooooooooo handsome and WELL MANNERED :-)
    Love it!

  • gtsa says:

I saw that darling moment with Julez. He looks a lot like his mom’s side of the family.

Beyonce looks beautiful and glad to see her get grammy love, though she missed out on album of the year. This dress featured though beautiful had too much cleavage exposed for my taste-that look is best in the bedroom or on the beach.

  • siara says:

He is so cute! So handsome and well mannered

  • Justina says:

    He looks like David Militelo!!!!;))

  • KHRISH says:

I just don’t get it. There was domestic violence that included Rhianna AND Chris Brown. While I think he was ever so wrong in hitting a woman, I do think that the woman had some responsibility in this thing too. I want to know why his career took all the hits for this horrible incident and her career went on as planned. It seems a bit unfair to me. Maybe no one else agrees with me but this man has gone into rehab and the whole bit and she has done nothing but contiue to boost her career. She has been in this relationship and she needs to have gone into rehab as well for allowing herself to remain in this type of relationship. It seems this punishment thing has gone one sided. I am a bit upset with how they doled out the punishment.

    • PlainMean says:

So are you suggesting punishing the victim? I don’t understand people who blame domestic violence on the victim. There are a lot of reasons women stay in abusive relationships. You don’t know what she experienced growing up as a child or if she was just too afraid to leave. Who cares why she stayed? It scares me when women and particurlarly black women (don’t know if you’re black) make such excuses for our males. We continue to hold them to such low standards. What about challenging our boys to be men? What happened to teaching our sons that a man NEVER puts his hand on a woman? Period! Chris Brown could very well have been facing a murder charge, thank God that it ended when it did. Maybe his career has taken the small hit that it has because there are still people with certain morals!

    • Trisha says:

I agree w/ everything you said. I like Rihanna & Chris Brown, but she didn’t own up & everything fell on Chris Brown…She even joked about not performing at the awards because she ruined it last yr. She did look BEAUTIFUL last night & super cute moment w/ lil Juelz & Jay Z

I think Chris Brown should of been apart of the MJ tribute. (in my opinion)

      • gtsa says:

Usher tore it up. He also was a big MJ admirer and credits the man for the big influence on his career every bit as much as Chris Brown has. He and the rest of the artists that performed during the tribute were more than enough. Sorry and nothing personal against Chris.

    • gtsa says:

Khrish, Rhianna’s career also took a bit of a dive. BUT I think it is important to note that Chris was the perpetrator, not Rhianna. No matter what she said or how much she irked him, he had no right to go there. I don’t have much sympathy for that reason though I do hope that at some point he is able to pick up his career and get it back on track.

His saving grace is that he was so very young at 19 when this happened and is talented and should be able to share those talents. Just may take a little more time.

      • KHRISH says:

@PLAIN MEAN:By no means or strech of the imagination, am I excusing what Chris did. It was horrible. I just feel, as Rhianna had said that he had hit her before; for her protection she should have gone into a program too. This would exposed to her the reasons she stayed in that relationship. I think that they both needed help and the career of both should have been curtailed as they are in the eyes of the young folk. This should not have been onesided. He, of course, had to do the criminal aspect of it, but she needs counseling too. As I also believe that Tiger Woods wife should have been held accountable for hitting him with a golf club. In his case had it been the other way around it wouldn’t have mattered whether he pressed charges. Just as Rhianna didn’t want to press charges but she had no choice. I don’t like the fact of men nor women hitting each other. Both are wrong.

    • Keepin' it real says:

Huh??? She should be punished for getting beat up?? Boy, I have heard it all now. Wow!!

      • KHRISH says:

That’s not at all what I meant. She admitted that he had hit her before and had she not been at the mercy of that state I don’t think that she would have pressed charges on him. I’m simply saying that she should have been assigned to therapy to find out why she would have stayed in that kind of relationship. If you remember, they were spending time together even after this horrible event. If he has hit her she has probably been in other relationships where she has endured the same kind of treatment. She does need some help and I will not retract that. He defintely has his problems too. But he was the only one with the criminal element. If you don’t understand what I am saying, then this is all a waste. or as Roseane Rosanada would say “never mind”.

        • Keepin' it real says:

Krish- Her career should not suffer b/c she was the victim of violence. we all tolerate things in our lives that others would not. The goverment should have no say in what someone else chooses to tolerate. I am just glad she finally woke up. She is young and is allowed to be temporarily stupid! That is how we learn and grow. She did not commit a criminal act..Chris did. I do however think she sent a horrible message to her young fans bu staying, but then again, I don’t look to Rihanna or Beyonce to teach my kids anything.

  • ndsteph9 says:

People need to understand that taylor swift’s album came out way before beyonce’s album and sold more than beyonce’s album…she was big before the kanye west situation…obviously some of you wouldn’t know..why?? because you didn’t know about her before the incident nor did you ever listen to her music to know who she was….so kanye west had nothing to do with her winning grammys, get up to date with the music industry.

P.S congrats to beyonce…but i’m not quite sure why she won so many awards her music has not matured and quite frankly her CD was garbage…..she’s a good performer though

    • gtsa says:

I have listened to a few of Taylor’s songs off Fearless. That she wrote all of the songs and her studio trusted her to do so and then the album ends up topping the charts can’t be overlooked. But I am not sure that her album was as strong as Beyonce’s effort overall.

If I Were a Boy, Halo, Sweet Dreams and the anthem Single Ladies were chart toppers for a reason. And though I find a lot of songs these days have a very transient/throwaway feel to them (I liken it to Chinese food-tastes good, but leaves you hungry a few minutes later) for what it is and the current climate, Beyonce’s album was on point, not flawless-I kinda agree her music could stand to mature some, but she is trying to keep it fresh for the younger folk who are downloading music etc and really changed the game out here for artists so she is trying to cater accordingly for her musical livelihood –can you fault her?

And when it comes to vocal prowess, Taylor is way out of her league. She completely botched the Rhiannon song last nite.

    • KHRISH says:

@NDSTEPH9: Well you are on the one with me. I had never heard of her before the West incident. That’s when I did listen a bit to her. Her voice is lacking, I’m sorry if you are a fan, but she does NOT have the voice. When you put her in the bunch of people that were up for that award, to me, she was out of her league. I still say that I think that West made her more famous than she would have been. I certainly would have never listened to her until after that incident. I love all kinds of music……but she was out of her league with the people she won over and that wasn’t just Beyonce.I will continue to feel that way.

    • FashionedByGod34 says:

*standing ovation* You hit it on the head for me ndsteph9. I will go further to say and this is my opinion that Beyonce is overrated and gimmicky. I never got the hype but hey that’s just me. I did not even watch the awards because it has become so boring and redundant.

      • KHRISH says:

But she wasn’t just up against Beyonce. That’s what you guys seem to miss. There were other artist and she just didn’t fit into the whole caliber of them. She was too light weight to be thrown into that group. I still maintain that she was out of her league and they were still trying to compensate for the incident with West. She just doesn’t have the voice….in my opinion, that is.

        • FashionedByGod34 says:

Who else was in the category? In any event as we see, these types of things for the most part are subjective:). Does anyone know the criteria in which a person is judged to win a grammy?

      • gtsa says:

@FashionbyGod, Beyonce is merely keeping up with the times and the current climate that is today’s popular music scene. Gimmicky-as are most of the acts out here. They are trying to top the other with showy costumes, antics, and the like–Lady Ga Ga ring a bell.

I don’t blame the artists entirely, the music industry has changed radically and the attention span of the youth are getting shorter and shorter. Sometimes a little spectacle, hype and flash will hold it just a little longer, or at least I assume that’s the thinking.

Look at all the electronica in the voices–ala TPain, everybodies doing it. Rehashing classics, throwing in a few sound effects and voila…

I get that Beyonce is a matter of personal taste. Some people find her much of much and much ado about nothing, but I am one of those who believe that hype can only get one so far-her back up is talent, good looks and the intangible. I am a fan and I am not, but will give it the girl has been many years in the biz now, sold many many records.

        • FashionedByGod34 says:

          Hi GTSA,

You are absolutely right, there are a lot of gimmicks out here and they all try to out do one another. Even some of our seasoned artists (i.e. Toni Braxton) be trying to overdo the “sex appeal” I believe to stay relevant which she doesn’t have to do IMO. Yes, the music industry is shady but the artists have some culpability to.

Yes, there is a lot more sampling, electronics and less originality these days. Many of these songs sound so much a like these days. It’s like everyone goes to the same producer(s) or something for that current signature sound. It becomes indistinguishable real quickly.

Yes, it’s definitely a matter of personal taste:). She has sold many records, this is true. I will say this though, Dr. Cornel West always talks about success versus greatness. There’s a difference.

          • gtsa says:

As you’ve noted, it is mostly subjective. Love her or hate her, Beyonce has made her mark, on a different generation of music lovers, she has got little else to prove. Only time will tell if she will be revered or looked at as a music legend or icon 20 or so years out i.e your reference to success vs. greatness. Sometimes the two do go hand in hand.

Totally feel you on the rest of your perspective about today’s music scene.

  • Pisces says:

Juelz is cute, but in a couple of the pictures he looks like Alfred E. Newman of MAD magazine. Is it just me, or does B look as though she has implants?

  • pontiac says:

b may as well took out her ta tas or gone out there without any top on since we can almost see them. she don’t know it but jz is allowing her, since she does not know any better, to be exposed to the world. tina, soso, anybody should not have allowed b to come out dressed like a ho.

    • KHRISH says:

All of these young singers go overboard to me with their dress. It just doesn’t look professional, except for the world’s oldest profession. I know when she perfomed with JayZ before they were married and he spanked her backside….I thought, my father would have given me “whatfor” and her father was in the audience watching it. They go just a bit overboard for me in dress and performance. It used to be when you had to do all that it was because you had very little talent or looks. She has them both and I just don’t understand why she has to dress and dance like that.

      • FashionedByGod34 says:

        Hey Khrish,

I agree with you about the way these singers are dressing and presenting themselves. Gyrating around; legs cocked open. I am 34 and I know this is not the 80’s or 90’s, but it was real singers back then and there was diversity. I was just watching Alyson Williams on the Monique show last week and was just floored. Girlfriend looking lovely and classy as ever, standing there just sangin’ (lol). Then Miki Howard was on the next day. I was in heaven. There is nothing wrong with a little choreography or whatever well I guess Beyonce is more in the entertainer category. I don’t believe that her voice is particularly good. I actually think the reverse of your comment in that she does all of this flash and dazzle to compensate for lack of real talent in my opinion. I even remember when Destiny’s Child did that lap dance in their performance with her parents right in the audience. That was creepy and inapppropriate to me even if the parents weren’t in the audience. This is just how I feel.

        • KHRISH says:

Wasn’t that lap dance disgraceful! I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. My mouth was gaped open. It’s just too much. And I don’t even know why they put Lil Wayne and the rappers on last night. I thought something was wrong with the reception on my TV then I realized that they had to bleep the words. If the song can’t pass the decency rating what is the use of putting them on there.

          • FashionedByGod34 says:

I am surprised that CBS would even allow that. Stuff like that is usually reserved for BET and MTV. Yes, also Magic should not have agreed to be a participant even if Cookie was okay with it and if it wasn’t pre-planned, he should not have been approached. I just didn’t get it. Leave some stuff for the bedroom and to the imagination.

        • Pisces says:

FashionedByGod..I agree. I also wanted to add that poor little Julez at his tender age has seen enough cleavage, booty, legs and God knows what else between his Auntie and his Mom to last him for a lifetime!

          • FashionedByGod34 says:

LOL. I know right. His mom is not too bad though right? Yeah, she likes her little skirts. This is the only site I visit relating to “celebrities,” so I don’t see her that often nor do I see her perform on television much.

        • gtsa says:

FashionbyGod, lets keep things in perspective now, slipping in the ol’ old school vs new school stuff :-) Let’s keep Beyonce safe and sound in the company of her contemporaries–J-Hud, Christina Aguillera, Mariah and the like to keep it fair -lol.

On that note, she is leading the pack IMO. And it is one thing to say you don’t prefer her voice, another to say she can’t sing–even most of her detractors wouldn’t go that far. Have to come to her defense in that regard. Many times she is singing live or mostly live in her performances, and not lip synching, that says A LOT these days. She puts a lot of heart into it, and I can feel that most times.

Some people just prefer the richer, deeper altos ala J-Hud. But I love me some sopranos, albeit Beyonce is more a second soprano, her voice is still strong yet sweet, she’s got good control and she can hit the high notes as well as the low and mostly everything in between.

I love me some J-Hud too, but I actually prefer B’s voice over hers, will I ever declare J-Hud can’t sing because of this preference. No.

          • FashionedByGod34 says:

LOL. I am keeping it in perspective. I know how to play fair now. I know things change, everyone is their own person, and there will never be another Diana, Chaka, Teena, Rachelle Farrell, Angela Winbush, Phyllis Hyman, etc. Trust me, I wasn’t putting her in that category (lol). However, sometimes I just note the differences in quality of music from different times in comparison to now. That’s all who I can speak for. Don’t get me wrong, there are talented contemporary singers that I do like and support. You stated your defense of her and I stand by how I feel regarding her voice. There are others whose voices I don’t prefer but can they sing, sure. Others detractors don’t have to go that far but I am:). I am just one person voicing how I feel.

          • KHRISH says:

You are right. We must keep her with her contempararies. I love Beyonce’s voice and many of her songs, the lady can sing; there’s no doubt about that. And because she is such a wonderful talent I don’t think she needs to do all the vulgar stuff in her performances. Even the videos that she turns out since she has been a solo act I don’t particularly care for. I know the young teens and the men love them, so I just don’t tend to watch her videos, but I do think that she is extremely talented.

          • FashionedByGod34 says:

I am keeping things in perspective:). Let me be clear, I wasn’t comparing her to the artists that I mentioned or any of those that come from the true school (as I like to call it). Generally speaking, at times I reflect on the quality differences between now and some other period or musical era. I still stand behind what I say regarding her voice regardless of what even a majority of her detractors will concede to. I know the distinction between the two because there are other artists whose voices I don’t prefer but can still sing. There are contemporary artists that I like, support and believe are really talented.

        • gtsa says:

I hear you and respect your opinion FashionByGod even if I don’t agree with it, so we agree to disagree on Ms. B.

There is a lot of talent out here currently regardless that some of the originality and creativity seems to be impacted adversely sometimes in the mad rush for the “big sell.” I have a few favorites too and B’s just one of them but I am 30 something as well, and totally feel you on the Mikki Howard tip. That’s one thing we can agree on here-now all Monique needs to do is get Regina Belle on :-).

          • FashionedByGod34 says:

Yes, we can respectfully agree to disagree regarding Beyonce and I respect your opinion and enjoyed our spirited discussion:). I wouldn’t be surprised if Regina Belle appeared on her show. That would be awesome. I also agree that a lot of other talent doesn’t necessarily get their “just due;” goes back to my success versus greatness and I agree with you also that sometimes, the two do go hand and hand are not necessarily always mutually exclusive. Just look at MJ.

    • Pisces says:

Pontiac, I agree. I am a fan of Beyonce and have seen her perform at Las Vegas Mandalay Bay resort twice, but I agree with what you said about Jay-Z in your comment.

I hope she dumps him before she decides to have children. I couldn’t believe the simulated crotch grabbing she did as part of her performance on the show.

      • FashionedByGod34 says:

Simulated crotch grabbing? OMG!! But when is she going to learn better for herself? Let’s forget Jay-Z and everyone else for a minute. She’s not a minor now. I don’t know, but she’s never come across to me as particularly bright. She seems to have a lot of influence on young girls, so she should maybe reconsider her overall presentation and let our young girls know that you can do what you love but always carry yourself with some dignity.

        • KHRISH says:

And I thought that Pink had stripped down to nothing. It just goes too far. Every time I think that have taken it to the limit someone else does something that looks even more vulgar. Women in the business seems to have lost all sense of being ladies. I can’t even imagine how much farther they are going to take the vulgarities. That’s one of the reasons I truly enjoyed the Golden Globes last week. I could admire the beautiful gowns that the ladies wore. It was such a refreshing change.

          • gtsa says:

Khrish, I digress. I liked Pink’s performance. Some how she was able to pull it off without seeming trashy to me, even in those barely there ribbons parading as attempts at coverup:

Got to say, didn’t know if I was viewing Cirque de Soleil or the Grammy’s there for a minute :-)

          • FashionedByGod34 says:

You are right. It still shocks the conscience for me. I just don’t understand why being a dignified lady has to be abandoned. I like to check out like honor or walk of fame type of award shows as well as the Celebration of Gospel shows. I did not check out the grammys. It has gotten so boring over these years or maybe I am just over it all.

      • gtsa says:

Yeah, the simulated crotch grabbing was for shock and awe. All it managed to do was turn me off. I thought it was beneath Beyonce.

      • KHRISH says:

I really think that she loves Jayz and I’m happy for them. I’m not really sure that he is the reason she does all that. She wasn’t married to him when they did that lapdance. I’m not trying todown these girls but I just think there needs to be a limit. I just don’t think it takes all that but that’s just my opinion. I like the voices of many of the singers. They have good voices and know how to carry their songs, it’s the way they have to dance and half strip to get attention. And just think, they tried to make Janet Jackson pay out money because she had a wardrobe malfunction!! Something that she couldn’t help. I remember Diana Ross said the same thing to them the night she was honored by the awards. It’s just vulgar, whether you like it or not. I could never imagine my daughter going to those extremes unless she was an exotic dancer. Just as my son would embarrass me if he carried on like Lil Wayne and his ilk. You can do things with class and be just as effective. I mean you don’t have to give you soul to make money. I know the guys like it because that’s just the way they are, but I just think there should be a limit because it gets worse every year.

        • FashionedByGod34 says:

Here’s an amen from the church choir. I was going to reference that comment Diana made in another of my posts. It definitely goes for the men and women. I am not a fan of her or Jay Z professionally, but I am a proponent of marriage and wish them a lifetime of happiness.

        • JustOutDone says:

I agree with you Khrish…and that’s the problem…they are selling their souls for fame and money….and it gets worse and worse every year. It’s so sad because it offers NOTHING of substance for our children…in fact it is destroying them. We really need to take a step back and see how entertainment is changing the world for the worse. I know people don’t want to hear it but there is nothing even resembling an ounce of God in most of these artists and it’s becoming more clear that they don’t even care….

  • ashley says:

    He is too precious
So over the Chris and Rihanna situation, but Chris owned up to it so I respect for that. Beyonce’ nor Taylor should have won. Now Lady G should have got it hands down.

    • KHRISH says:

I thought THE BLACK-EYED PEAS should have won. While I like Beyonce, the only song I really liked from her album was that Single Ladies……And I really, really like it when the little female Chipmunks sing it in their movie. Did not like the dance that went with the song in the video though.

  • KEEYSHA.J says:

I LOVED HIS COMMENT HE SAID NO THANKS SO POLITE.

  • Tiana says:

Um…Keep in mind this post is about Julez. NOT the Grammys necessarily. With that being said I thought he was absolutely adorable on that stage especially when he said “No, Thanks.” and I also though it was nice of his Uncle to bring him up there. I’m sure that made his night and possibly heightened his popularity with his playmates. Lol

  • BrwnSantiLove says:

    Aww thats wonderful and cute

  • TOKEN BLACK GIRL says:

B AND RI WAS ON POINT LOVED THERE LOOK THE ENTIRE NIGHT THAT BABY IS GETT’N SO BIG SO FAST BUT HE’S A CUTE BUT OH BOY DID HE NEED A HAIR CUT LOL

  • KHRISH says:

Just saw a film coming to theaters with all the boys in it. Can hardly wait for that one. TAKERS, Chris Brown, T.I. Mike Easley and my man Elban using his real English accent. I love films where he doesn’t have to speak the American English.
