Chairman Nick Cannon and singer Mariah Carey plan on definitely having kids one day… soon.

“We absolutely plan to have a family,” Nick said to MTV.com. “But we gotta prioritize, because that’s a major, major priority. That’s like the only priority in life, when you think about it, is starting and raising a family. We wanna make sure everything is out of the way and that we don’t have any distractions.”

Currently, both Mariah and Nick are distracted with with work.

“She’s on tour right now, I’m doing a bunch of stuff, so eventually we want to be able to say, ‘It’s time to have a kid,’ and set everything up,” he said. “But we’re definitely moving toward [having children]. We got our house in L.A., and we got a house [in New York], established and close to schools. So we take all of that stuff into consideration.”

The couple will celebrate their second wedding anniversary in May.

I wonder if she will have a surrogate carry the baby. She’s already considered high risk at her age. I wish them luck.

According to the people on this site, she has nothing to worry about. On the last post about Beyonce and babies everyone was saying that women have into their forties to start trying for children. SMH. The study just came out sayng we already lose 90% of our eggs by 30. I guess Beyonce’s eggs are made of gold so she has nothing to worry about though.

AJA, I just followed your link, thanks for sharing. Its plain to see that you were merely being informative, not hating, not using scare tactics just stating what research and the medical community have shown. While I still think it is a very personal decision at what time a person feels it is right to have kids and there will always be women who defy the statistics naturally and without medical intervention, I still think women should educate themselves on the scientific and medical consequences of waiting later to have children. Not to mention other variables beyond conception.

A lot of ordinary folk are mislead by what they see the stars doing. They aren’t letting you in on the big money being spent on fertility treatments, egg donors, surrogates and the like. Not to mention the heartbreak involved on failed attempts and the like.

I myself am split about the increasing trend for women to wait to start bearing children later in life. Medical science is growing in leaps and bounds making it possible, though usually its by egg donor, for women in their 60s & up to bear children…

Oh Please! Beyonce is 28 years young (just turn 28 not that long ago infact) and Mariah is 40, so the comparison is invalid. 2nd pregnancy at any age is a risk so you might as well get over and stop paying attetion to “statistis”. 3rd I don’t get why everyone pretends to be concerned about when these celebs chooses to have kids, especially when it comes to Beyonce. SMH.

There’s a big difference between 28 and 41. Very big. I did hear the study that we lose 90% of our eggs at 30. The problem with studies is that next week they’ll say we lose 90% of our eggs by 25, but that if you drink milk and stand on your head you can keep 50% of those eggs – blah blah blah. I’m sure Mariah will have access to any medical help she may need if she needs any at all so that she can pop out a little Nicriah (plz don’t name the baby that)!

Funny! If Halle Berry and Gabriel did it, Mariah and Nick should be able to get pregnant, too.

Halle Berry had a VERY HARD time getting pregnant!! she talked about it in an article – she tried everything! and had to finally get pregnant by artificial insemination. so it was not easy at all at their ages.

Two years-that’s a record in Hollywood these days-lol.

I like this couple. People harp on the age difference, so what. Men do this all the time-going beyond a decade or more gap in a number of cases.

Mariah seems young at heart and happy with Nick. I hope they are able to expand the family if they wish to do so. Her clock is ticking loudly now though, no negativity, just facts. Best to ‘em.

I personally believe it is all up to God! I was 26 and needed fertility drugs, with both of my sons. Then at 33 years old I got pregnant on my own. So, it is funny how the eggs would not release at 26 or 30, but at 33. lol So, it is all in God’s timing. These doctors can not tell us anything. The power of life and death is in the hands of the Lord.

But God also gave us five senses to use. The info that AJA provided in the above post was informative. Like with anything, there are always exceptions to the rule. Some heavy smokers will not die of cancer, that doesn’t give me a green light to take upon a tobacco habit without considering what the statistics show.

We mustn’t leave everything in the hands of God. Somethings we should handle ourselves by using information given us and common sense.

gtsa–thank you. On this post I was sarcastic but on the last one I definitely was not hating. I saw some posts from women in their 20′s specifically asking if they should wait to have kids. I just thought it was not right the advice they were getting that waiting is better than not. In the end everyone makes up their own minds, but I hate that so many women have bought into the fallacy that it’s EASY to conceive as you age. Sure, we all know women who have, my grandmother had my mother at 38 in the 50′s, long before fertility treatments. But she’d also already had five kids before then and that plays a role in the ability to conceive in later years. If you’re trying for your first at that age there’s a good chance you’ll run into some problems. I just think folks need to know the real deal.

Remember, if u miss your chance to have children at a reproductive stage, there are always kids awaiting to be adopted. If u r a loving individual, you can love any child just as much or equally as u would love your own.
